Alfred offering that Bruce should let him take care of it. Bruce refusing, insisting it's his responsibility.

Bruce, clenching his jaw, forcing back the tears while he works, trying to ignore all the evidence of torture that mars his partner's—no, his son's—armor: the tears from the barbed wire, the dents from the crowbar, the bloodstained chestpiece, the tattered cape, the destroyed right boot, the bits of skin still clinging to the back of the cracked domino mask. The video replays in his mind against his will: Jason's dead eyes and voice as he says he hates Batman, the J branded into his cheek, pulling at his skin as he speaks...

Racking sobs rip from his chest, and the ruined armor falls from his hands as he crumples to the floor in agony. His body quakes with the force of his sobs, the vast hole in his chest widening as invisible hands of grief tear at its edges, peeling it back until he's crushed beneath the weight of that emptiness once again. He presses his forehead against the floor of the cave and weeps into his hands, begging his son for forgiveness until there are no tears left to fall.

My soldier. My partner. My son. My fault. My failure.
