Wow who remembers these craszy ass rocks?
I think a lot of the hatred towards therians and furries comes from ableism. The same goes with how people treat any other “cringe” interests because society will always use disabled people for emotional gratification. Whether that be using us as inspiration porn or mocking us for entertainment.
A lot of therians tend to be neurodivergent, lots of therians are therians because of neurodivergence and trauma. Expressing nonhumanity is a way of coping for so many people. From childhood I’ve always been someone who communicates through animalistic body language and sounds, it’s how I interact with my environment and how I regulate myself. Before I could communicate properly and when I struggle with communication now it’s how I establish boundaries and show love or discomfort.
I’ve always felt this way, being autistic means I think differently, I feel differently, I frame myself and the world in an entirely new lens. When you know this then you know that it is entirely possible for someone to have the mind of a nonhuman entity.
Neurodivergence is not the only reason for nonhumanity, but it is a large part of it for a lot of people. Often times anti therians will have no good reason for hating therians besides “ew it’s weird” or “they’re crazy theres something wrong with them” which is both deeply rooted in ableist views.
When people dismiss therianthropy as “just kids doing things” it reminds me a lot of how the identities of autistic people are seen as insignificant or childish, something that we are expected to grow out of.
This rant is a little disorganised, but I’m thinking of writing a proper explanation and description of this at another time.
Sooooo since I'm non binary and want to spread anti-transphobic/exorsexist messages, I'm gonna be making some badges and leaving them around my college campus.
So I'm holding a mini competition! I don't have any prizes unfortunately, but I need some pin designs made! Give me your best anti-exorsexist or anti-transphobic pin ideas!
You can draw them, make a rough plan, or just describe them!
@thisisexorsexism I'm hoping you'll promote this for the cause LOL🙏♥️ no pressure tho
The "Treachery of the Blue Books" was a report made by a commission of young English jurists who visited Wales in the late 1840s. Its full name is "Reports of the Commission of Inquiry into the State of Education in Wales". It was made in response to rising political violence as a result of land enclosures and the efforts of the Anglican church to proliferate and control schools for the poor.
It lambasted the Welsh language, saying that no Welsh literary tradition existed worthy of the name. It reported that the Welsh people had potential for "progress" and a strong perceptive ability, but were held back by their "backwards" language, called a source of moral decline. It criticized the nonconformity of the Welsh church.
It recommended banning publications in the Welsh language and establishing state schools that would teach only in English, to rid the region of cultural distinctiveness and forcibly assimilate the Welsh people into English culture to prevent labor uprisings in a valuable coal and steel producing region.
It served as a blueprint for cultural genocide elsewhere in the British Empire. The report should be read to get a glimpse into the nature of the methods employed by colonialists and the thinking that underlies it.

Björk bringing the heat! 🔥🔥🔥
just thinking about how the whole “anti-conformity” / “labels don’t mean anything” arc actually fits steve better than nancy — especially when framed romantically.
nancy doesn’t need jonathan to teach her that societal norms are bullshit. she already knows. she learned that lesson early, as a girl who was dismissed, talked over, and underestimated at every turn. her rebellion isn’t theoretical; it’s survival — just like jonathan’s.
steve, on the other hand? steve “the hair” harrington was treated like a king for years. he benefited from the system. he fit the mold perfectly.
which is exactly why he’s the one who would actually need a romantic wake-up call.
the duffers were smart to tease us with the stobin straightbait, because steve only considers dating robin after he gets to know her — after he realizes dustin was right and popularity is bullshit anyway. but the nonconformity that draws him to her (platonically don’t come at me) comes from her outsider perspective as a lesbian — something steve couldn’t have known at the time.
steve is the only one of the three who has to unlearn something — to be pulled out of the lines by an outsider who forces him to question rules he never had to notice before.
nancy already knows the cage.
steve has to realize he’s been living inside one.
and that realization — that shift — is just a much more compelling romantic arc to watch.
(wanna read it? here’s a chapter index)

nonconforming women are hated for rising above their station. for having too much self-respect.
nonconforming women are stereotyped as aggressive feminists, spinsters, lesbians, mentally ill, or wanting to be men... just because they want to be treated equally.
when a woman refuses to wear makeup, shave her body, or wear high heels, and instead dresses in a typical 'male' way, she's not any less clean, but is treated as a dirty even though she's meeting the standard men are held to. she's refusing to do all the little extras because they serve only to demean her for men's enjoyment.
ask yourself this: what would happen if men were asked to do all these things (makeup, shaving his body, wearing heels, not to mention all the social things like raising kids etc)? they would laugh! so why do women do them?
