How did you come up with the idea for them?

I hope you don’t mind this whole info dump I have to share on how this freak came to be.

It all started in the summer of 2022…

My best friend as well as my boyfriend had told me to watch the Rottmnt movie on Netflix, as it had just came out. I was hesitant, as I knew nothing about the turtles other than some media I’ve seen briefly throughout the years. But I decided to give it a go.

And I loved it. However, getting into Rise as a show was a challenge. I’m not sure why I was convinced I wouldn’t get into it fandom wise. But look at me now. I haven’t LEFT!

While watching season 1, I had found a tiktok video about someone making a rottmnt sona. And I promptly sent the link to my boyfriend. This is where everything started.

The TikTok no longer exists sadly, I cannot credit who gave me the inspiration to make them.

The iconic white mask was a random idea. Yellow is my favorite color, so it would be my first choice, however I ended up settling on white since I was practically forcing my boyfriend to also make an oc along side me. We decided on the idea of black and white, ying and yang.

(He has since left the fandom and so now it’s not really that anymore. I tend to tie the white to them growing up and learning to become the ideal version of themself. A happier and new turtle compared to their past)

For species, I probably just looked up turtle species on google clicked the first link, eventually landing on one that stood out. That being, a Bog Turtle.

I was more enamored with the look of the neck markings. But the more I learned about the species, the more I loved them.

They’re the smallest turtle in North America and are critically endangered. They also live in the North east, covering New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania! I found out after Marcel was made that the Bog turtle was also my state turtle??? I did not know that state assigned turtles were a thing.

Then. There was picking a name. I wanted to go with the naming theme of an influential late artist. They were a turtle after all. I gotta stick with the iconic theme!!

At this point in time, I was studying Graphic Design in my second year of college. The spring before, I had a class called Modern Art History. Its final project was a 5 page essay about our favorite artist from one of the eras we studied.

This is where I discovered my favorite artist was a French painter and sculptor from 1900’s named Marcel Duchamp. Why do I love this artist? His career was skyrocketed because of spite.

If you have studied art history and know about the conceptual and pop art era, you have definitely heard of a sculpture called “Fountain”

Yes it’s a urinal with some guys name painted on it. Marcel Duchamp hated what art was defined as, so he went to change it. He threw shit on the floor and called it art. And while people found him annoying, I thought he was cool and hilarious as hell. This was all because his painting “Nude descending down a staircase” was rejected from an art show btw.

Plus, he had a drag persona. So I say he was kinda iconic for someone in the 1910’s.

And so, I bestowed the name of Marcel to this oc. I couldn’t draw turtles at the time, so I grabbed some screenshots from the show and created this.

It was a proof of concept. And a messy one at that. I had traced it because I never intended to post it anywhere.

I soon made an original full ref in October, creating an official design for them. (I still couldn’t draw turtles imo)

Their design was slightly changed in April of 2024. And it was kept ever since.

I desperately need to redraw their ref. But I mostly draw them the same way as they’re designed here.

Mars was quickly separated from the “sona” idea. They’re now just an Oc I project onto as a neurodivergent adult living in this era of hell. It’s probably why they quickly rose to be my favorite OC over the years. They’ve gotten me through a lot personally, and they still continue to.

This was the last time I fully drawn them in the rise style. They grow up so fast 💕💕

A Timeline for Saadrah

I saw @hedwigoprah's timeline for Veryl, and even though I technically did something like this already for Saadrah back in October, as "The Life Cycle of a Dragon," I thought it might be nice to do a timeline version of it. A lot of this is very similar to that post, just with years instead of Saadrah's age, but there's some new stuff too. So thanks for the inspiration, hedwigoprah!

(I didn't do music, though, because I don't usually make up character playlists. Imagine whatever music you think most appropriate. 😁)

9:17 Dragon — Isskari (a Ben-Hassrath relic-seeker) and Saarebas (one of the saarebas escorting her expedition) escape the Qun with the help of Isskari's friend Ashkaari, who buys them time. Because Isskari took one of the saarebas with her, the Ben-Hassrath continue to hunt her in order to make her answer for this trespass, and to bring the "dangerous thing" back under guidance. Because of this, they're frequently on the move.

At Saarebas's suggestion, they take new names: Hissera (hope) and Adaar (weapon).

9:20 — Hissera and Adaar have their first child, a son they name Meraad.

9:24 — Saadrah is born in early autumn. She is a handful from the moment she learns to walk, as she begins climbing on everything and playing hideaway games. Her favorite person is her older brother. Her second-favorite is her father.

9:28 — Meraad's magic awakens, and he accidentally injures Saadrah with it, leaving permanent scars on the right side of her face and down onto the right side of her torso. He feels awful about it, and she spends a week terrified of him.

9:28–9:34 — Saadrah and her brother receive training in both dual-wielding (from their mother) and magic/how to deal with mages (from their father).

9:31 — While living in Seleny, Saadrah meets and befriends a Crow fledgling she only knows as "Crow." Her family is forced to leave, ending her two-week friendship with the boy, but she gives him her Qunari dagger and he gifts her a Crow dagger in return, to remember each other by. Unbeknownst to her, this fledgling is twelve-year-old Lucanis Dellamorte, grandson of the First Talon of the Crows.

9:34 — Saadrah's father finds work with the Valo-Kas mercenaries, and the family is able to settle down for a time in the village the mercenaries are based out of.

9:40 —They move again while Adaar works a job for the Valo-Kas with a small team. During this time, a young man in their new location appears to take a liking to Saadrah, and starts courting her, to which she's receptive. However, he pushes for more physicality with her, and lets slip that he wants to be able to brag that he's "conquered an oxman." Unfortunately for him, Hissera's children are not defenseless, and he's lucky that he only ends up mildly injured (no weapons).

Saadrah's parents hear what happened. Within a day or two, they're packed up and moving again, without explanation. Not long after, the Ben-Hassrath pick up their trail again, but the family manages to evade them.

9:41 — Adaar goes with a contingent of the Valo-Kas to provide security for Divine Justinia's Conclave at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. The Breach is opened, and Adaar is killed in the event protecting others.

9:42 — Ben-Hassrath agents once again pick up Hissera's trail, and this time Saadrah splits off to draw them away from her family, leading them deep into the Tevinter Imperium. When she finally loses them, she has no idea where her family is (since Meraad's job was to lead their mother somewhere else for safety), so she instead fabricates a false backstory of being adopted by a human family and begins to build a life for herself. She sends letters to the Valo-Kas periodically in the hopes that one will reach her family.

9:44 — Saadrah finally receives a letter in return, letting her know that her family is safe, and her brother now married to a Rivaini Vashoth woman named Mira. Saadrah begins sending small gifts and money she earns to her family to help support them, with promises to visit when she can.

9:45 — Saadrah is tapped to join the Shadow Dragons, and within the year she earns a reputation for her skills at improvising under pressure, as well as her self-trained assassin skill.

9:48 — Saadrah earns the unofficial title "Ghost of Minrathous" for almost single-handedly taking out an entire cell of Venatori (Tarquin helped a little) including a high-ranking magister. With the title comes a reputation among magisters and common folk alike for her efforts in liberating slaves and fighting blood mages.

Saadrah learns via letter that she has a nephew, Idaarah. (Saadrah's family can be seen in this post here.)

9:49 — Saadrah is given a job helping Varric Tethras to investigate a slavery ring. Saadrah once again goes against the plan when she determines it's faulty, only this time her identity as the Ghost is revealed and the Dragons' presence in Nessus compromised. The Shadow Dragon leaders strongly encourage her to leave with Varric to protect herself and deflect attention away from the Shadow Dragons for a while.

9:49–9:52 — Saadrah helps Varric and Lace with their search for the Dread Wolf. She finally gets to visit her family again during their travels, and meet her nephew in person (they hit it off immediately).

9:52 — Saadrah returns to Minrathous with Varric and Lace as their leads point there, and the events of Veilguard take place.

(Since we aren't given a strict time of the year, I like to think they kick off sometime in midsummer, and wrap up right around the year's end, putting Saadrah's birthday halfway through.)

(redesign of motm Mugs) + Vixy timeline

So I wanted to make a reference sheet for Mugman (The way I draw him lmao). I wanted to give some cup = hair treatment to him because I always thought it was weird in qftim that Mugman didnt have hair unlike Cuphead. I wanted to give him a similar look to my oc Trevor (who I heavily based off of Mugman). I also wanted an excuse to draw a beefy, strong man again.

I can't believe I had Vixy for eight years now XD. She'll always have a soft spot in my heart.

Vampire Knight Rewritten Tiiimeliiine baybeeee!!

1100:

Kaname is born in what will later be England.

1120:

Kaname is bitten and after committing a massacre of people, escapes to a ship and tries to sleep forever.

1637:

Kaname wakes up in Japan, eats the people who find him, walks into the sun to try and die. It does not work.

1643:

Kaname meets the “Hooded Lady”, Tani Kuran, a fellow vampire and an oiran. She gives Kaname the name Kaname since Kaname forgot his original name (Cain I.) and he takes her surname, Kuran. They fall in love (very weird codependent love) and have a son named Christopher/“Krist” (he’s dead).

1646

After the Hooded Lady attempts to kill the current vampires in charge to stop infecting Japan and influenced Kaname to join. While Kaname is fighting with the leader, Tani steps in between the two to protect him. This allows Kaname to kill his opponent but, in doing so, he unintentionally impales Tani also. Tani tells him she might’ve done this on purpose.

Kaname burns the rest of the current council down but decides to seize control in their place before leaving Japan, thus leaving Vampires having no power there.

Though this is throughout time nearly all of Kaname’s descendants inbreed and die, except for Juri and Rido.

1761:

The dhampir and future revered vampire hunter Kaien Cross is born in a British colony (he’s Irish).

1779:

Kaien throws a rock at Kaname’s head in anger at the bourgeoise. This causes the two to meet.

2002:

Yuki Cross/Kuran is born.

2003:

Zero Kiryu is born.

2004:

Ichiru Kiryu is born.

2005:

Emi Yagari is born.

2007:

Juri Kuran-Tomita, Kazuya Tomita (Juri’s husband and Yuki’s father), and Rido Kuran are killed. Yuki is turned into an amnesiac pseudo-human and taken in by Kaname before being given to and adopted by Kaien.

2014:

Toga Yagari (33 years old) mercy kills his wife Babette after she’s bitten and turned, she begs him to kill her before she goes berserk.

Emi is nine when her father comes home and frustratedly says her mother isn’t ever coming back because she is dead.

Toga would later lose his left eye a few months later.

2015:

Ichiru is bitten and conceals this using illusions.

Zero and Ichiru’s parents are killed in an orchestrated killing by Ichiru and Shizuka Hio. Zero is bitten. They are taken in by Kaien after Kaien saves them from dying and kills Shizuka.

2021:

Part one begins.

Late 2021:

Ichiru Kiryuu kills Kaien Cross. Vampires are exposed to humanity.

Zero gives up half his humanity to evade execution with the help of Kaname.

2022:

Society collapses. The world goes to shit after vampires are revealed, The Council only does stuff that will get them more power. America and Russia nuke each other, Japan closes itself off, groups of humans live in city zones like Half Life, the sky is permanently grey so vampires aren’t affected by the sun. The Japanese military splits off and joins either the Hunters or the Catholic faction known as the Templars, the only successful human colonies outside of the City Zones.

Zero fights Kaito Takamiya and leaves Kaito behind with a magazine of silvers. (A Light Novel I planned)

2023:

Part 2 begins.

Zero saves Emi from a club in which she is a sacrifice. Though Emi kills the other half of the club.

Zero, Emi Yagari, Toga Yagari, Kaname Kuran, Hanabusa Aido, Ruka + Akatsuki Souen, and the hunter army kill the council and dismantle the council’s reign.

Zero and Ichiru fight each other while Kaname kills any remaining councilmen. Ichiru dies. Immediately after, Zero is speared by Yuki out of spite and Kaname sees Zero’s body before killing Yuki, his final descendant, in vengeance.

Kaname blows up Cross Academy, and he almost dies. Albeit Kaname is given Yuki’s heart so he is comatose.

Emi Yagari resurrects Zero Kiryu with help of Toga Yagari by getting his metabolic processes back on with magic, which takes weeks.

A day or a few hours after Emi Yagari resurrects Zero with help from her father, The Templars nearly kill her for this as this would make her equal to or above God/Jesus. Aido quickly diverts their attention to “other pressing matters”. Emi resurrects Zero in hiding.

Yuki Cross is dead. Ichiru Kiryu is dead.

2024

Part 3/Post-Series

5 months after, Zero wakes up.

Emi has become Cross Academy’s headmistress, though she’s more of a “Mockingjay” situation.

Cross Academy is rebuilding. Zero isn’t given any credit by the government due to a lot being done and is given an apartment in one of the city zones as well as his charges dropped. Zero goes back to being a hunter, but this proves repetitive because not much happens, and he can’t exactly be used to nothing happening being good. Everyone is kind of annoyed at Zero reasonably not being as nice as he is.

Zero wakes Kaname Kuran up out of boredom due to his repetitive life. He keeps Kaname in his house.

Kaname’s pissed off zero brought him back but then Zero isn’t taking his shit. Zero instigates them banging, so now they’re a weird casual relationship where Kaname loves Zero but Zero doesn’t care if he leads Kaname on, not that Kaname cares.

Waking Kaname up results in what remains of the council coming to get Kaname, and now Kaname and Zero are in a deeper rabbit hole than they afforded.

Sarah Bercea goes after Kaname and Zero.

2040

Emi has her son Mei. The father is unknown.

20?? (A few years after Emi has a child, but now I don’t know when because their relationship is a lot more complicated now when I write it)

Kaname and Zero get married.
