First coining post!
Oriented Asexual
This flag was requested by a friend of mine, here’s what that friend gave for a definition:
“Oriented ace - very similar to oriented aroace, essentially for those who are ace but also have some sort of attraction/orientation outside of their asexuality.
Examples of possible oriented aces: allo(romantic)aces, aces who have a significant tertiary attraction, aces who are quoi/nebula/idemromantic or questioning their romantic/platonic / other identity but still feel like they have a non-ace orientation of some kind, non-SAM aces who still might want to label parts of their non-ace orientation, anattractional aces who have a non-ace orientation, partnering aces who feel like they have another orientation, people who know they are ace but don't want to split or categorize any attraction(s)/orientation(s) other than mentioning they exist, and probably more that I'm not thinking about but fit the guidelines
Oh yeah, also this can be combined with other things, so you can be pan-orientated ace, hetero-oriented ace, etc
There are literally only two general guidelines: a) ace (otherwise why would you be an orientated **ace**?), and b) have a (non-ace) orientation or attraction or affection or any other feelings that you feel are well-described by oriented
Some examples of orientated aces:
- Cody is a quoiromantic ace who feels a complex set of attractions they don't want to parse out and explain to other people, so they use the label omni-oriented ace
- Belle is ace but is gay for women in most other attractions, so she calls herself a lesbian-oriented ace
- Red is aroace but has a strong platonic and aesthetic attraction, so she might call himself an oriented ace
- Blue is anattractional but is also partnering and open to romantic and platonic relationships, so they use oriented ace to explain this
- Linda is an asexual woman, but he realizes he also attracted to other people. Linda's not quite sure who he's attracted to and how, so he decides to use this label
- I (the coiner G.E.) know I'm firmly ace but mostly don't label my attractions and disidentify with a romantic orientation because It's Complicated (TM). However, I still feel like I have an orientation based on non-attraction factors.”
So yeah, that’s that! I hope someone out there enjoys this flag :)
Bonus! Oriented Aromantic! The same as explained above but for aromantic instead of asexual! I could also make tertiary attraction versions, and feel free to make one yourself if you want! :D

oriented aspecs or aromantics,
does anyone else feel like less of a ‘person’ compared to other people?
my autism and mental health issues etc. are definitely a factor but
in the context of being unable to ‘properly’ fulfill romantic feelings or obligations in a relationship the way you’re expected and supposed to.
and that these expectations aren’t unfair to be asked of you like. so it feels like there’s something wrong with you for finding it difficult or being unable to fulfill a romantic role, the traditional amato/heteronormative sociocultural role at least.
for me, being romance- or romantic relationship favourable (to a degree, sometimes), seemingly not reciprocating with others the ‘right way’ is honestly so disheartening and ruins your sense of self worth.
being in a situation where you do try but you don’t or can’t offer the right kind of love or affection or intimacy or anything that they do deserve and are right to want, idk. you just come to find you aren’t good enough and your personhood is also not enough. in a way.
like feeling less than for behaving wrong or *being* wrong
i understand communication is the best way forward for this kind of issue, but that doesn’t change this feeling you have and the comparisons to others/other ‘proper/normal’ relationships ifykwim
like what do you do when you want something but you really aren’t good or enough for it. lol
maybe qprs are the way to go /lh
this is a bit all over the place but. i'm not exactly looking for advice but if you relate please lmk 😭
Angled Opalian + Oriented Opalian
AroAce + Opalian combo flags!
Angled Opalian
Someone who is a mlm, mlnb, nblm, and nblnb, meaning someone who is non-binary and a man who is attracted to men and non-binary individuals, while also being both ace-spec and aro-spec.
Oriented Opalian
An aromantic asexual (aroace) individual that is non-binary and a man who experiences a form of tertiary attraction towards men and non-binary individuals that they feel is significant enough to warrant a place alongside their aroace orientation.
The flags were made by combining existing flags. Credit for the original flags that inspired these go to: Angled aroace flag by black-aros, oriented aroace flag by @biaroace, and opalian flag by @nlmgalaxy.
Being loveless and an oriented aroace at the same time is so weird. One side of me wants to find a queer-platonic version of The One™ to live and die with while the other scuttles away from the slightest mention of love, sex and romance like a terrified beast
I love being an oriented aroace
