Another chilly long run today. I was a bit tried after my Park Run effort yesterday. Did I mention I went to Park Run yesterday for the first time in ages. We did an out and back along the beach front. Today's long run was also chilly and very wet underfoot. There were lots of interesting fungi to look at as I ran. I found myself smack in the middle of a Back Yard Ultra at about my 10km mark so had to extract myself pretty quickly. I don't think spending the night in the forest in a tent would be much fun this time of year. The two racers I saw were still smiling though.
Right onwards, I have laundry to sort and stitching to do. I do hope your Sunday has more sunshine than mine has.
Managed to go on an early morning run today. (6:20 am)
Park Run saved my mental health <3
Did a 5k race this morning and got a new PR!! Ran a 5k at 7:50 pace. I was DEAD at the end though damn! My first two miles were in the 7:40s !! Yay!!!! So tired though and need a nap!
Ran past a beautiful bluebell wood today ☺️ I love seeing these woods become such a beautiful colour every year! Such a good run today, definitely helped to clear my mind from uni stress, even though I tripped on a root and fell flat on my face at one point 😂 (My dog seemed very confused as to why I was on the floor) Finished mission 3 of Zombies, Run as well!
Last one I promise!
Did my long run on Wednesday because it's the only day I have off from the lab this week, so I thought I could use the run to shut off my brain a bit in the morning then work on thesis in the afternoon. I picked a route with significantly more downhill than uphill to give my body a bit of a break, but still kept it really slow and walked quite a bit. It took me ages to get settled into a rhythm but when I finally did it was so blissful.
Also what the hell was this weather :'D sooo misty out in the peaks. These trails normally don't feel very remote or wild but the fog gave them a completely different feel. And that waterfall that I essentially had to ford is normally a tiny stream. It rained quite a bit at the beginning of this week, clearly.
The rest of the day then didn't quite go to plan because I was super tired after this, but at least I enjoyed the run haha. I'm going to parkrun tomorrow morning because I'm for once not long running on a Saturday, and there's a vegan runners meet up I want to attend. Might try and go for a speedy one if I feel like it but considering I've run 48 km in the last 4 days (which is a lottt for me) I might not feel it 🤣
Park run done
The rain stopped just in time for 9am and the hail didn’t start till I had just finished and was sheltering under a tree! I visited a new parkrun for the slightly dubious reason of not being in peak running form due to last weeks illness and not wanting to not get a pb, if that makes sense. But also good to visit a new park and learn a new route. Good run and now I will feel good for the rest of the day. Also long hot showers after a sweaty run are the best.
