#Repost @fitnesspainfree with @get_repost ・・・ Really cool post from @chicagosportsdoc ⠀ .⠀ You can see just how close the acromion is to the rotator cuff muscles (infraspinatus, supraspinatus). Our current understanding of rotator cuff damage (tears and tendinopathy) is occurring from a combination of excessive tensile loading (muscle contracting) and compressive loading (pinching) with arm movement. You can see just how close these tendons are to the acromion and how compression is likely to occur. ⠀ .⠀ Keep in mind that these tendons were made to take both compressive and tensile loading and normally take wear and tear over the course of our lives which is most likely normal and generally doesn't lead straight to pain.⠀ .⠀ From chicagosportsdoc - Rotator cuff anatomy - A tear into one of these tendons is a common cause of pain and disability among adults. Each year, almost 2 million people in the United States visit their doctors because of a rotator cuff problem.⠀ .⠀ #performancetherapy #prehab #fitness #exercise #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #DPT #DPTstudent #physio #physiotherapy #chiro #chiropractic #mobility #fitness #correctiveexercise #movebetter #movement #sportsrehab #athletictrainer#strengthandconditioning #personaltrainer @powermonkeyfitness @championptp #crossfit #powerlifting #olympicweightlifting #olympiclifting #shoulder #shoulderpain#rotatorcuff (på/i Lund, Sweden) https://www.instagram.com/hybrid.ma.swe/p/Bqh9dXOAUfC/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=p8ckrm0xxn1x
