Makima is a devil, not only that a horseman of apocalypse, not to mention the head of public safety. To put it simply she's incredibly strong, way stronger than any normal human and definitely strong enough to open a normal soda can

So she's not only surprised that it's taking her this much, but also annoyed, not specifically at the fact that she can't open a soda can but at the fact that she can't open a soda can that you asked her to open, you, the most important person in makima's life, she swore to do everything for you and she's not breaking that promise for a damn soda can

"You don't mind if I'm a little rough with it right?"

"Huh? No sure go ahead I guess"

"Good, thanks"

She places the can on the table and backs away

She eventually gives up and calls denji, when even he in his chainsaw man form can't open or hurt the can at all of you start running to aki thinking it's a devil or something

Death unsummons falling devil and looks at the can actually mad at this point, it's the first time you've seen her with anything resembling anger on her face

You see her summoning the guillotine devil this time and just sigh, glad that you decided to get take out because she would have totally done this in public too

When even guillotining it doesn't work death is fed up with the can and just throws it out of the window and resumes eating

★ first post! i wanted to tidy up the blog before uploading anything, but i already had this written beforehand, so sorry if it isnt as pretty as it could be !! T-T

Aki

He knows what it's like. It's been a constant his whole life; he comprehends it, and so does he comprehend you, at least to the best of his abilities. He wouldn’t say much; he’s not exactly good with words, and he wouldn’t really bother. But he’d sit by you, accompanying you without bothering, without overstimulating. He’d only ask if you needed anything; he’d be quite insistent with it, but he still respected your space, even to sink in your hollowness. His flame was enough to keep you afloat, and he'd make sure of it.

Power

She would not understand it; she would not get it, nor would she feel it. To her eyes there was simply something wrong with you that she couldn't fix. Perhaps that was enough for her to grow bored and look for something else, but if you had truly dug your way into her heart, she’d try to be more “extreme,” and you’d always laugh at her antics, and laughing was good, right? She’d make a fool of herself just to bring that spark out in your eye, even if it was for a little bit. She had never cared so much for anything; she could not comprehend why, but without your joy she felt powerless.

Denji

Denji hadn’t necessarily experienced something similar; his feelings were often muted and dull. Sadness just wasn’t something he had to deal with. He had a hard time trying to “fix you.” It was HIS responsibility, and it was HIS duty, and it was something that he had to do above anything else. That's what a good boyfriend would do, right? Denji would try to learn; he’d tried to learn so much. To clean, to cook, and to take care of you, of course. However it all had little effect, it was simply too difficult for him, but the simple gesture made it all worth it. He’d ask around, he’d seek help from others, and in due time the stress would slowly suffocate him as well.

Makima

At first, it was a hindrance. You wouldn't work, you wouldn't listen, and you wouldn't do; it was a delicate situation that could only be solved by means outside of her control. But Makima, with due time, would learn that with her constant love and affection, you would slowly start to rely on it to escape your reality. She had become your safe shelter where, eventually, only in her arms would you feel alive, and soon enough, you would only rely on her. No friends or family could make you feel the way she did; no one else could. It would be just Makima.

Angel

He wasn't a human; he was a devil. What would he know about feelings? But somehow, your situation could relate to his own thoughts, to his own mind, and in a way he could understand, he could care. To him, his priority would be to open your eyes to the beauty of life. He would take you along to follow random people, to see their day, and to observe who they were. To breathe in a park and eat ice cream together. To let you sleep softly in your apartment, it didn't matter; he'd watch over you, he'd feel for you, wishing that he could only take what dragged you down and not rip away what made you beautiful.

Reze

She’d never stop bothering you. She'd force you to eat healthy, she'd force you to leave your house, and she'd force you to live, and at times you'd hate her for it, but you never stopped feeling as if your entire world depended on her. Reze never opened up about herself, but she would always let small things shine through within her actions. You were more important to her than you could ever realize; you were her first and only real choice, the symbol that she could truly live. She would never let you go.

Himeno

Dealing with Aki had made her develop her own little protocol where you never really had too much room to breathe. She’d never leave you alone despite how angry you felt at, well, everything. She’d take the frustration, the sadness, the screaming, and the chaos, and she’d quench it with her own words, her presence, and the habits she passed onto you. She didn't want you to end up like her; she'd get stressed just thinking about it. And with every bottle and every cigarette, in due time you started to pick out small mannerisms from her until you both started to sleep together, passed out.

Kishibe

He did not know how to handle it. He could barely look at you. He saw himself in every meaningless stare, and it terrified him. It took him some time to muster up the courage to tackle the issue, and though it was gradual, he learned to never leave you alone. You were too much of a danger to yourself, and Kishibe could not take any more loss. Every one of your failures left him a sharper and sharper pain in his heart.

Kobeni

The two of you did not mix well. You were her emotional support, her smile at the end of every day, and when she saw that side of you, her own guilt led to your own, only leading to an unhealthy cycle that would leave the two of you emotionally ruptured but needing each other more than ever. Days would be spent in bed until your melancholy only became another aspect of a troubled relationship.

the concept of a rift being created between both universes, identified by the public safety when devils start retreating into a cut in the atmosphere to escape multiple battles. devils appearing in the dc universe, being handled by heroes and forces who aren't knowledgeable in what these devils are, and how to deal with them.

public security that sends their experimental special division into the universe to deal with the threat to protect (other-worldly) civilians by sending the devils back to the original universe, and identify the cause for this rift.

fiend reader who's a part of this division, and can't for the life of them take anything seriously during the whole thing. these people, this world, they're all so similar to the foreign comic books they indulge in back home! sure the names are a bit off, and you don't remember some of these -mans and -womans, but it's so sick to see these flashy old fools anyway!

devil hunters who are also seen as threats by the justice league, since they can apparently summon monsters of equal danger, have a slight sense of disregard towards casualties and infrastructural losses, and use strange abilities to presumably help the monsters escape through some strange portal.

the story that goes over different cities and different batches of characters per "arc", if i extend it out that long. i do want a focus on constantine (for the occult), zatanna (for magic), superman (some devils are kaiju-like, right? and science) and batman (for the technical elements) 's mythos, but i'll skip around the other characters too.

for the chainsaw man view, i'll have to take a few liberties. unlike dc, and like most manga, csm follows a story that's already there. i'm going to kind of pull them out of that and probably miss out on a number of character defining things. i think it might be a bit awkward too since i can't exactly pinpoint at which place in the timeline i pull them out. the starter csm character rotation will however have denji, power, aki, beam, kobeni, galgali, angel and kishibe, so it's somewhere around and about the katana-man arc.

fiend reader that the devil hunters vote into an "ambassador" type of role but because they can't take shit seriously they're just loitering around like a bum irritating everyone. think; isekai story where the (somewhat) all-knowing protagonist doesn't really gaf.

maybe there's an aki and rose wilson thing, maybe power and batgirl (from power's thing with the bat devil) and maybe denji and fiend reader mistake constantine for kishibe from a distance, i dunno i'm still getting there.

anyway i just want to write this real bad because i'm getting really attached to csm. let me know if it's interesting and i might just indulge in it... its always better to have people to chat about it to than to just write into the void,,

You were never the type to call yourself lonely. You enjoyed spending time by yourself, it never bothered you, despite the hole that often formed in your chest when you were lying awake in bed. During those moments, you'd remind yourself that this made you safe, that in a world with Devils it was never smart to get close to people. But another part of you couldn't help but envy the friend groups that walked in your store. Regardless, you'd never call yourself lonely. 

The only person you could call a friend was your boss, Yuta, though it might be inappropriate to call them that. They owned the book store you worked at. They were eccentric, wearing odd clothing and styling their hair and makeup in unique ways. They seemed to take a lot of pleasure in making themself look just unique enough while still appealing, you couldn't deny that they were beautiful--but strange nonetheless. Yuta's an old soul who seemingly knows everything, having an answer to all your questions no matter how strange. All together, your boss was a quirky person, but one that you've come to care about. They're seemingly the only person who actually enjoys spending time with you, often inviting you to eat dinner at their apartment above their store. The nights would go on as you ate and drank, often falling asleep on their couch and waking up to them making breakfast. 

During those moments, you'd like to pretend like your relationship with Yuta was more, that they weren't your boss and you weren't their employee. They always acted like there were no lines in your relationship, bugging you during work with hugs and draping themself over your shoulder when needing attention. Maybe you would be a little more receptive if they weren't your boss and there were more boundaries in your relationship. Their presence was just so overwhelming, a small part of you could even say dangerous, but you felt bad even thinking that. You'd often push those thoughts to the side, choosing to focus on your work instead. 

Or at least you could--if there wasn't someone staggering into the store covered in blood. 

You swore you recognized him--perhaps the blood was a bit too much. His blond hair was the only thing that wasn't covered in blood, instead dripping in sweat that caused the strands to cling to his forehead. He was panting, but for some reason didn't look in pain, instead he looked almost tired. You were supposed to lock up soon, of course when a bloody guy walks in, Yuta is out of the store. Awkwardly, you rushed up to the man before he could get any blood on the books, watching him stumble into your arms and he nearly passed out, just conscious enough to follow your lead outside of the store. 

You made sure to lock the store up before leading the limping man towards your apartment. "Is this kidnapping?" was your only thought, as dumb as it sounded, probably the result of the adrenaline and fear coursing through you. The guy must be a Devil Hunter, no normal person gets like this--and he was wearing the uniform. 

It didn't take long to get to your place, pushing him past the front door and into your bathroom, watching as he took an awkward plop into your bathtub. Cleaning him was pretty awkward, since you didn't want to take off his clothes, and since he was mumbling things you barely understood as you learned his face. Eventually he passed out, still breathing however, which calmed your anxious heart. For a moment you thought about letting him sleep in your bathtub, but when you noticed he wasn't waking up to any of your attempts to rouse him, you chose to move him--albeit slowly, to your couch, where he awkwardly sprawled himself across the whole thing. Only after this whole thing did you realize how sick you felt. 

You didn't sleep at all that night, waking up early in the morning and feeling your heart quicken at the sight of the man on your couch--it wasn't a dream. He must've moved at some point, because he was curled up like a baby under the blanket you awkwardly laid on him. Maybe you should wake him up--but maybe that would cause more problems? Your mind was racing a mile a minute, and before you knew it, he was up himself. He seemed confused for a moment, not recognizing where was, before he locked eyes with you, a sense of relief washing over him.

You were quick to bombard him with questions--which was probably not fair since he was the one to wake up in your apartment randomly. After what seemed like hours, you learned that his name was Denji, and that he was a Devil Hunter living in the apartment next to you--oh...now you feel stupid about bringing him here. He lived with your neighbor Aki, which is probably where you've recognized him, seeing him in the hallways occasionally. You didn't really know Aki that well, sometimes you would catch him smoking on the balcony next to you while you watered your plants, you never felt the need to make conversation however, you were kinda just intimidated by him. 

Denji was quick to thank you before heading out of your apartment, only taking a few seconds before you heard yelling in the room adjacent to you. Maybe you should go talk to them? No--you have more to worry about. How are you going to explain the bloody floor to Yuta? 

That's a trick question, because by the time you got to work, the blood was gone, not a speck anywhere. Yuta seemed less than bothered, reclining in a chair near the back of the store while reading a book. You couldn't even get a word out, Yuta quickly explaining that they already cleaned the floors before you got here. For some reason, their calmness made your stomach sink--but you weren't going to kick a gift horse in the mouth, so you quickly got to work, pretending like the day was normal. 

The day went by slowly, all you could think about was Denji. It felt strange to be so focused on someone you only knew for a moment, with the entire interaction covered in blood, but how were you expected to move on from that. It didn't help that when you got back home, Aki was standing near your door, smoking as he watched you walk up to him. He put out the half smoked cigarette before apologizing to you about Denji, explaining that they were fighting a Devil when they got separated. You didn't really know what to say, awkwardly joking that as long as it doesn't happen again you're good. Instead of moving on from the interaction and going back into his apartment, he invited you in for dinner as a "proper apology." Maybe you should've rejected the offer, but your heart screamed to accept, and so you relented, stepping into the unfamiliar apartment. 

The night went on, drinks and food flowing your way. Denji was a lot more energetic than the night before, stealing food and making jokes with his other Roommate, Power, the first fiend you've ever met. You recognize her as the one who's been stealing your vegetables in your garden--so that's nice to know. Aki was the one making the food, interjecting with jokes every so often. Maybe it was the buzz from the beer provided, but you felt much more extroverted than normal.

After that night, you started to see the three more often. Denji would come over to your apartment to rant about work. It was mainly about his boss and the major crush he had on her. You tried to give him good advice but his--more than strange behavior made it difficult to know if he was actually using any of it. Power kept stealing your vegetables, no matter how much you yelled at her. Aki says that it's the only time she eats vegetables so you let it slide. Aki sometimes visits the bookstore while on patrol--though it's more common to see him after work since he invites you to dinner most nights when he's cooking. 

It was so nice to actually have something to look forward to after work, even if it made your boss worried. Yuta always seemed so sad when you'd turn down their dinner nights, but at least they seemed fine in the morning. You never realized how little time you've spent with them since meeting the three, though you assumed it wouldn't bother them much. But you slowly started noticing a change in their behavior, making you work later and walking you home whenever they could. They were somehow even more touchy than they were before, always being around you whenever they could. You didn't want to assume anything, but a part of you thought they knew about your new friends, they always seemed slightly annoyed at even the mere mention of you leaving work, but you didn't want to assume anything. 

You never focused much on it, choosing to bask in the rare moment of happiness. After a few weeks of knowing them, you were invited to go out to eat with them and their work colleagues. At first you thought it best to refuse, but Aki claimed it wasn't meant to be super formal, so it would be fine. Despite your anxiety, the dinner was very nice, you didn't exactly expect Public Safety members to be so unique and filled with personality. The night was pretty great, until you were met with the face of Makima. You could tell why Denji was so intimidated by her, her gaze was piercing and heavy, despite the small smile she displayed. It felt like she was staring into your soul, and it felt even more crazy that you were the only one who seemed uncomfortable around her. 

Once Makima sat down, you could help but feel strange, like something was up with her. It didn't help that Denji and Aki would do whatever she wanted, drinking and eating whatever she asked. It rubbed you the wrong way, but you tried to keep a nice face for your new friends. But after Makima called Denji a dog, you had to leave. It felt wrong, like you couldn't breathe. Maybe that was the point, was she trying to rile you up. You were so caught up in your own feelings that you didn't realize she was following you outside. 

Makima didn't even look surprised at your confused and restless expression. She looked so at ease that it only unnerved you more, backing you up into the alley wall. Was she even trying to be threatening or was it your paranoia? Her words only fed into the question as she calmly told you to stay away from Denji, that he had bigger responsibilities than you--that you were a distraction. 

A small part of you couldn't take her seriously, Denji was his own person, who was she to say what he could and could not do? You told her--somewhat rudely, that you'd be fine before pushing her away slightly. You march away from her before taking a small breath once you were far enough away. It didn't take long to find Denji rushing out of the restaurant, looking for Makima. When he saw you, he looked relieved for a second, before asking about Makima. Knowing how important she was to him, you felt conflicted about telling him what she said. But a good friend would be honest, right? Hiding things could cause more problems in your relationship. 

The words spill from your mouth before you fully process them, telling him not only about Makima's words to you, but also the bad vibes you get from her. You tell Denji that her behavior isn't normal, that people you care about don't call each other "dogs." You skate around the word abuse, but you knew he understood what you were saying, at least you hoped. You watched as his face fell as you continued talking, shifting into anger as your words kept going. Before you could finish, you were interrupted by Denji's upset tone, claiming you were lying. Makima would never say anything like that--you barely knew him, how could you make assumptions like this. 

You waited until his screaming was over to push him away, saying that if he was finished you were going to leave now--and that if he wanted to ruin his life you weren't going to be a part of it. It hurt, you wanted to cry, but you weren't going to let someone talk to you like that. You didn't care what he had to say--you just wanted to be left alone. 

You guessed that wasn't in the cards, because as you walked home, you found Yuta, smoking outside the store. They looked up slowly, locking eyes with you and smiling, and at that moment, you were invited inside--and for a moment you felt a little less alone. Yuta spent the rest of the night comforting you, allowing you to fall asleep on their couch, waking up to them making breakfast for you. All you could do is sigh.

a/n: hihi sorry for not responding sooner!!! my computer decided to not work and my phone would not format things correctly :( i got my pc to finally run so yayy!! i also did get to see the csm movie! me and a friend went (they dressed as fem denji and i dressed as makima though i had intended to go as kobeni but wig wasn't cooperating lol) Characters included: Power, Reze, Kobeni CW: None(?), leans more towards fem/afab reader, possible ooc, grammar errors

Power

Before I even begin, allow me to remind everyone that Power is canonically stinky

With that being said, in order to take her out to an enclosed public area like a movie theater... You're gonna have to hose her down

After that, I feel like Power wouldn't be able to sit through a movie

Something about the movies just makes Power feel so bored, she either falls asleep or leaves to go wander through the movie theater

She totally didn't destroy the stupid claw machine in the lobby area what are you talking about... (She definitely did, but that's besides the point)

Likes the snacks and thinks that's the best part of the date. "MY HUMAN! I require a large popcorn and an icee!" "Power..The popcorn is 15$..." "I REQUIRE IT!"

You do end up spending like 100 or more dollars on food, but Power's grin is more than enough to make up for it.

Inside the actually theater, Power likes sitting near the isle where she can trip people who are walking up past

If an isle sit is not available, than she runs straight to the top of the seating area and claims the entire back row of 20 something seats as hers

Definitely throws popcorn or other various things on others in theater and laughs about it

On the rare occasion that she does sit through a movie, it's mostly action cartoon movies (think like the MHA movies or some other cartoon action based movie)

And even then, it's just barely. Power only watches the fight scene and then she's ready to leave.

She considers staying when you offer her some special treat or some sort of reward

There was a time when you both went to the movie and watched a romance movie and Power surprisingly watched it in its entirety.

With the arm that sat between the two of you raised, Power cuddled into your side. Her eyes were glued to the screen.

Only after the movie while you two were walking back to your car, did you realize why she watched it so nicely. "Power, what are you doing?" "My dearest human and companion! This flower represents the love I have for you!" "Most of the petals are missing."

It was cute to see her face flush a bit as she gives a little huff before pushing the flower she picked off the grass into your hands. Reze

I don't really see Reze as a movie theater person, not because she would think of them as boring or anything, but because of her being too busy

She'd much rather wait for them to come out on disc or until they become more easily available (she'd probably pirate them)

When she does go to the movie theater, it would be after you asked her enough times.

Likes to go during the day. There're less people and that means no one being in the theater with you both

Reze likes being able to talk about the movie as she watches them. She notices a lot of secrets or things that hint at the movies message/ending and likes to share them. "You see it? The letters are backwards, like in a mirror. You think she'll notice it before something bad happens?" "The letters..? Oh, I didn't notice that." "See I'm cute and smart? Totally package you have!"

Hates popcorn, the move theater employees either burn it or it's incredibly stale. Not to mention who wants to pay 15$ for a bucket of mediocre popcorn

Sneaks in snacks from outside in her bra or bag if she brings one. Once pulled out sliced salami from her bra and proceeded to offer you some.

Lays down across the movie theater seats with her head in your lap, says the movie is more enjoyable this way.

Definitely sneaks into other movie theaters to watch other movies without paying. Not like the movie industry is going to lose too much money

Hates movies that are stereotyped with their foreign characters. It bothers her a lot, especially when the actors are butchering the pronunciation of another language

I think Reze's favorite movie would be comedies. She can't help herself but to laugh at even the dumbest jokes

Definitely repeats the jokes after the movie and keels over laughing. It gets to a point where she can't stop laughing to continue the line "You know you..hehe..you should- pfft! Hahaha.." "Babe, your gonna choke on your own spit.." "No, no.. Listen, listen.. You- Hahaha!"

Giggles the whole way home and is banned from rewatching the movie in her free time. Kobeni

Kobeni doesn't like movie theater

There's like a million things that could happen in one and she doesn't want something bad to happen

There could be a devil attack, someone could be dangerous, the building could get set on fire, so many things could happen!

On the off chance you do convince her to go, she'd be really nervous

She would dress up like it was a fancy date though. She'd definitely take the opportunity to show you her new outfit, she doesn't have many opportunities to dress up

Buys the concessions at the theater but it's usually just a small drink and maybe some candy that she'll save for later

Her hand stays holding yours, on to your arm, or some other part of you. It comforts her to know that you're nearby.

May of accidentally touched your boob one time and totally freaked out. Was very relieved that you weren't concerned or upset with her

Actually, really likes the movies, thinks it's nice to just be able to sit down and enjoy a movie

Kobeni also likes cuddling during the movie, she has fallen asleep before though so be sure to wake her up so she doesn't miss anything.

Sometimes she gets really into a movie and after the movie, she's talking about it without stuttering or getting nervous. "I really liked the actress they choose! It really shows that the director cared about the accuracy to the comic. And there's- Why are you..um..staring at me like that..?" "Hmm? Oh, no reason. Keep going, I like seeing you excited like this. It's cute." "Oh.. Oh! Well, there's this one bit where I think they did really well!"

It's honestly really nice to see her so excited and happy about a movie.

I firmly believe Kobeni likes romance movies. She likes them because it reminds her that sometimes good things can happen like they do in the movies.

There's also a part of me that believes that maybe, just maybe, Kobeni likes horror movies

Hear me out, she likes them because she knows that they aren't real. And because she knows they're not real, it doesn't scare her as much as they probably should.

Though, sometimes some of those movies might have a possibility of happening.

If she enjoys a movie at the theater, she'll definitely buy a physical copy so she could rewatch it later on. "We... I..? Should get a copy of that movie when it, uh.. Comes out.." "We should! I think we have a few others with the same lead actress so it'll be nice to have a collection of her movies." "Y..Yeah! Oh..uh, Yeah, it would be..nice.."

Kobeni's practically smiling the whole way home, even swinging your hands slightly as you two walk.
