@prof-peach makes these adorable little comics on how to raise grass-type pokemon and I got inspired to make this.

Professor Yew studies ghost/dark type pokemon and helps dispel urban legends. Instead of lighthearted poke-advice he runs himself ragged trying to teach people how to interact with wild ghost pokemon.

His team includes a grumpy Umbreon named skip, and a nervous Drowzee named Landon. There was also a sleepy Metapod that Landon wouldn’t leave behind so he is on the team as well.

Together the four of them study the mysterious field of ghost and dark type pokemon and make lots of ghost-buster references.

Landon has been a wild pokemon for a very long time. He has never had a trainer before and has no idea what to do. He is trying very hard to impress Prof. Yew and be a good research assistant.

I might open the ask box for Prof. Yew and his team next weekend if anyone is interested in learning about ghost pokemon.

I have heard that several poisonous ghost pokemon such as Haunter are inherently dangerous to come in contact with. As a child I was warned that its saliva was poisonous in nature and that if I was bad they would 'phase through the walls to get me' Is there any validity to this? I often wished I could have one, but worried that an affectionate nature would put me in an early grave.

Ask Prof. Yew #6: On Handling Poison Types:

A wild cat will bite but a tame house-cat loves to be pet. The same applies for pokemon. Pokemon with toxic capabilities will only use it when threatened or angry. For the most part, the venom used by pokemon is nonlethal to humans. 

The venom is generally used to stun prey or disable predators, while not all pokemon are safe to have around young children, most pokemon can be tamed with the proper training.

Dear Professor Yew, My partner Hala who is a Mimikyu is distressed. My town are very superstitious and treat Ghost types and their trainers like they have the plague or are hostial in rare cases, which is upsetting for many of the Pokemon. I do not know what happened but Hala has been refusing to leave my closet. I believe that someone might have said or done something to upset her when we were in town a while ago. Is there any way for me to help Hala and the other ghost types in my town?

Ask Prof. Yew #4: On Mimikyu & ‘Haunts’:

Ghost pokemon tend to stay in one specific area their whole lives. They love haunting abandoned buildings and this often puts them in conflict with humans when they try to renovate. 

Petitioning your local zoning board can help, they can turn abandoned buildings into protected pokemon sanctuaries. 

Be sure to give Mimikyu lots of thread and burlap so they can repair their outfits, but no sewing needles. Mimikyu uses their claws to make holes and they can hurt themselves on needles if left unattended. 

Prof. Yew’s Note: “Misdreavus is a great companion pokemon for all types. They are naturally very nurturing and have very mellow dispositions. They also make great therapy pokemon for humans, as they can sense when people are stressed.”

Is the whole thing about Charmanders, Charmeleons and Charizards dying if their tail is put out true?

Ask Prof. Yew #5: Charmanders Flame:

Not a ghost type pokemon, but this is a common urban legend worth debunking.

The fire on the tail burns for their entire life, only going out when the pokemon dies. Since the gas ignites as soon as it makes contact with the air, it doesn’t go out easily.

Still you shouldn’t try dousing the flame, fire types usually need to keep their body temperature high to remain healthy, plus water annoys them.

Hi Professor Yew! I just added a Yamask, named Finn, to my team! I adore him, but I've never had a ghost pokemon before and want to make sure I'm taking care of him properly. Do you have any advice? The rest of my team is water, fire and grass and I want to make sure all of Finn's needs are met! Especially since Yamask are rumored to be sad. And if he evolves, do Cofagrigus only exclusively eat gold as the pokedex suggests? Are they harder to manage? Any advice is appreciated, thank you so much!

Today we focus on the care of our first ghost type!

Yamasks need good socialization or they end up anxious.Find them one or two good friends and they will calm down over time.

Cofagrigus loves pretty things but luckily you won’t have to go broke supplying them with gold nuggets. Anything small and shiny will do!

So I know the season is over, but ever year my Pumpkaboo gets awful nervous around the carved pumpkins for halloween. Do you have any ideas for how I can calm her and show her that there's nothing to be afraid of?

Ask Prof. Yew #7: On Pumpkaboo and Anxiety 

All Pokemon get nervous from time to time! 

As a trainer you need to be mindful of their needs and make sure they are comfortable.

Look at your Pokemons moveset and nature to determine what berries, pokeblocks or poffins they would like best. 

Pokemon are social creatures and in the wild they are almost never alone. Pair them with others of the same kind or Pokemon in their egg group.

Also as a final note, don’t carve your Pokemon. They might look like plants but that is their flesh, don’t be a jerk.

Hello Prof. Yew! I wanted to ask if Dusknor is really the grim reaper? Do they really bring souls to the spirit relm or is it a false rumor?

Ask Prof. Yew #3: On Dusknoir and Trade Based-Evolution:

Exposure to the unique radiation from the transfer machine can jump start never before seen evolutions in pokemon.

Any evolutionary stage that requires trading or a held item is a recent discovery.

Wild trade evolutions can wreak havoc on pokemon ecosystems when released. The existing social structures get thrown out of balance when a new stronger pokemon shows up and takes over.

The most common ghost pokemon seen as pack alphas are:

Prof. Yews Note: “If you don’t think you can take care of your evolved pokemon please find someone else who can. If they have been in your care long enough to reach their final evolutionary stage, it means they are too domesticated to safely reintegrate into the wild.”
