a transmigrated shen yuan au where he becomes head disciple of qing jing when yue qi rises to power alongside him. they bond over their head disciplisms and shen yuan is one of the people to notice when he goes missing trapped in that cave.

he was aware yue qi becomes yue qingyuan and that he comes from slavery and manages to piece together some stuff about this xiao jiu character. when he goes to the lingxi caves to investigate yue qi’s cultivation and why he’s trapped there, yue qi explains he’s trapped inside (bloody and broken from clawing at the cave walls of course) and asks shen yuan to complete this one task and he will forever be in his debt. what is the task? breaking shen jiu out of slavery of course.

and shen yuan is both eager to prevent the scum villain from becoming the scum villain and will do anything for his clearly very upset shidi, so of course he locks in and busts shen jiu out of the qiu estate before wu yanzi can get his grubby little hands on him.

shen jiu imprints on him as shen yuan drags him back to qing jing and therefore shen yuan single handedly prevented the collapse of their relationship but maybe also becomes their third

Shen Yuan being a wandering cultivator stopping by at Shen Jiu’s place for a while, taking care of the bamboo house so he can stay there and he cooks and shit. Yue Qingyuan stops by to deliver SJ dinner one day and SY guides him to sit down, feeding him and talking sweetly and SJ is just hard glaring.

YQY: I’m happy you’ve found something SJ will willingly eat

SY: I know, I know, I love taking care of people and i like cooking

YQY: it’s very good! I understand his liking of it

SY: it’s a shame about the quality of his ingredients, I would get more but I forgot my coin purse

YQY, already emptying his wallet: here; make sure he eats well

SJ glares at YQY as he gets up and leaves with a happy expression, going to snap at SY and just sees his too proud expression before it drops

SY: you uh… don’t care I just emotionally extorted him in front of you, right

SJ, suddenly not so mad as he sees the man instantly shift back to normal: he’s stupid anyways, it’s fine

And this becomes a common occurrence of SY conning YQY out of money, to the point SY can just grab his sleeve and tug on it before he gets a wallet in his hands (YQY just wants to support SJs interests, even if that interest is SY)

Lowkey obsessed with qijiuyuan where they all grow up as slave kids together. Qi-ge finds poor pathetic A-Yuan and can't say no to his face that looks so much like his Xiao Jiu.

SY did transmigrate but doesn't realize who they are until way later, after they become peak lords. He also unfortunately has some qualities of his OG body, so he's rather sickly as a child, so SJ warms up to him a little quicker but frames it entirely as pity, "who cares about you, pathetic!!"

Because they look so similar like siblings, share a surname, and SY is so pathetic, it actually ends up earning them some more when begging, too.

It also means Qiu Jianluo buys the both of them. SJ works harder so SY doesn't have to because he's so sickly, and instead SY gets "cared for" by Qiu Haitang. She mostly treats him like a little brother, much to his dismay. He starts to realize how things were written in the novel may not be exactly as they are, or maybe things changed? QJL still whips them both and is canon-typical scum, though SJ makes it his job to protect them both and takes the brunt of it.

SJ never mentions that he'd met with Qi-ge. He never tells SY who was unconscious fighting a fever, he doesn't want to get his hopes up.

SJ burns down the manor and tries to run with his sickly A-Yuan when QJL is making plans to marry SY to QHT. He won't let them be stuck this way forever. Forget waiting for Qi-ge any longer.

Except they reunite as normal, and are accepted into the sect per canon with Qi-ge's interference. SY is just about the right age, and SJ is a little past the ideal age.

By this point, SJ and SY consider each other to be all the other has. They're closer than friends, but don't consider themselves siblings or even anything romantic. They're just... them.

And then SY is nothing but happy to see Yue Qi again, and after many events and biting his tongue and anger, SJ confesses to seeing him during one of SY's fevers. Lots of emotions and yelling and crying. And reassurance, and reconcilliation(post becoming peak lords, when SJ hits a breaking point.) SY makes them talk it through, and they both learn just why YQY didn't come back.

SJ begrudgingly forgives him, and they slowly grow closer again, enough that SJ comes to him after SY gets wifeplotted for help. He could do it himself, sure, but YQY is stronger, his qi is more suited to SY. They both... "assist" him through it. Until it keeps happening.

One of the Shens gets wifeplotted basically every week. One or the other. It's like an unspoken thing that YQY will assist happily. YQY is not going to question it.

I just think they'd have such a situationship.

svsss au where instead of sqq taking 5 years to wake up in his plant body, it only takes him a year or so, but the mashroom was rushed into maturity so the body is an infant. and it takes a few months for the body to grow to an adult. and i dont mean sqq has the mentality of a baby, i mean this is a grown man who has to dig himself out of the ground using a baby body, which will probably take weeks. alt version where sqh is aware that the body hasnt matured to adulthood and he's just standing over where they planted the body and pacing because oh my god what if cucumber bro wakes up and is trying to dig himself out but he chokes on dirt from being buried alive? so when he eventually helps sqq dig himself out, they return to the sect, and people are looking at sqh because he's carrying around a baby that looks like their dead colleague, not to mention theyre all still grieving?? and why didnt they say they were in a relationship sooner?

but since sqq is going to grow up fast, they have to explain the situation to everyone and yqy has tears in his eyes looking at his xiao-jiu and like 'he can get a better childhood this is great' and lqg and qqq are probably coming over to sqh's house every day on a rotating schedule to say things like "wow i bet this isnt as awesome as when you were a spoiled little master huh shen shidi". and mqf is just coming over to poke and inspect him because wow, this is so cool? growing another body. so cool. also, sqq's without a cure didnt manifest in this body, not to mention his meridians aren't broken, so he's like in tip top condition. and everyone likes to peek inside sqh's house to watch their interactions.

Edit: also I haven’t reread the plantzun part of the series in a while, so if I got th years wrong (which I’m pretty sure I didn’t) please forgive me 😞

meanwhile, binghe's in the demon realm, clutching corpse-zun and thinking "why is no one coming to get his body anymore? lqg just??? randomly stopped attacking?? huh???"

Yue Qingyuan headcanon that I don’t see used often enough? The man has PTSD and dissociates and the main reason he doesn’t tell Shen Jiu why he didn’t return is because he literally can’t get the words out. He chokes every time. I’ve seen this take ONCE (you can find it here) now and it was beautifully written.
