I don't know which fem queer people need to hear this right now, but body hair is not inherently masculine. whether society is telling you that as a bad thing or a well-meaning fellow queer person is telling you that as a good thing

you are not less feminine for having body hair. if you're a woman, you're not less of a woman for having body hair. most adults have body hair regardless of biological sex, and certainly regardless of gender

removing body hair is not necessary to be feminine. not removing body hair does not make you look masculine. most feminine-presenting people did not remove leg, armpit, or pubic hair for most of western history post-Roman Empire and pre-1915, and even a large number left it alone for decades after that. your gender presentation does not require hairlessness and I love you

This post is including and encouraging of ALL kinds of trans people including women, men, nonbinary and agender people who embrace their femininity.

I love trans women and femmes. I love when I meet up with a transfem friend and our outfits are just polar opposites. I love when she looks like she's going to a gala event for a very progressive cause while I look like I should be bumming cigarettes outside the local dive bar.

I love femmes, nonbinary femmes, I love femmes who aren't women, I love femmes who are men and I love femmes who are masc. I love how he smiles in his pink tie dye shirt that I gave him, I love the wrinkles on its shirt where their belly rolls.

I love the fat femmes, I love the femmes who wear the loudest makeup. I love the gentle femmes, I love the femmes who're themmes, I love the genderfluid and the non-binary fems.

I love trans women and femmes. I love people exploring their femininity the way they gods-damned want to. The hairy femmes and fems and women. The ones who try to shave but where the shadow stays, the ones who don't and all the ones who try to be okay with it. The ones who try to love their stubble and their hair that grows.

I love the women, femmes and fems of color, the ones who don't let white supremacist ideals of beauty ruin their days or presentation. I love the ones who reclaim how their darker hair shows on their skin, I love the ones who keep it natural if they like.

I love the femmes who embrace who they would like to be, I love the goth femmes and the preppy ones, I love the gay-boy librarians, I love the furry femboys, I love the fems who dress up everyday and I love all the ones who have to hide it all too much.

I'm finally coining a xenogender. I'm witchgender and even wrote a zine about being witchgender. That being said, I define witchgender a little differently for myself than how the original coiner described it. I think that's completely fine, but I've always been interested in creating a xenogender because I think xenogenders are really cool. I guess you could say wiccegender falls under the witchgender umbrella. Anyhow, this is what I've got so far. I haven't created a flag yet, but probably will within the next couple of days. Let's please not take this too seriously. For me, xenogenders are all about imagination and expressing your identity.

Wiccegender

Wiccegender is a noungender that encapsulates a gender identity with a significant connection to identifying as a witch, practicing witchcraft, and concepts like the witch archetype within literature and pop culture while also simultaneously encapsulating a gender identity with a significant connection to concepts like womenhood or femmeness. You don't have to blanketly identify as a woman to identify as wiccegender, though. A wiccegender person may identify with womenhood but not explicitly call themselves a woman or may not identify as a woman or with womanhood, but does identify as a femme and with femmeness. A wiccegender person may also feel that being a lesbian or sapphic is a significant part of their gender identity. A significant part of wiccegender is recognizing how the patriarchy has used the word witch and the witch archetype as a weapon and reclaiming that. Wiccegender doesn't exclude people who express themselves/dress in a way that's stereotypically masculine, but as an identity does decenter men and manhood. Wicce is actually the Old English term for a woman who practiced magic. Though to re-clarify, you don't need to in any way identify as a woman to identify as wiccegender. For me, a big appeal of xenogenders is reconstructing gender identity in a way that decenters the language of the gender binary.

There are many, many beautiful and beautifully nuanced things about being intersex. Some days I connect to womanhood and femininity and then other days I connect more to manhood and masculinity, then I switch things up to where I connect to womanhood and masculinity some days and manhood and femininity on other days, and then every nuanced nook and cranny of different layers of womanhood and femininity + manhood and masculinity, and then at times, neither. And everything else with me using nonbinary, genderfluid, bigender, isogender, genderqueer and gender non-conforming gender identity and expression labels + various aesthetics tailored to and based on my autistic neurodivergent special interests and hyperfixations just further accentuates and enhances it all. It's so freeing and liberating. 💛💜💛💜💛💜💖💙

I feel so called out. As a bisexual person who came out at a liberal arts college…there were moments that hit so close to home.

The book has such realistic representation of bisexual awakening and feminine relation to queerness

& I love that is has mostly fem characters!

The author, Becky Alberti, also wrote Simon vs the homo sapien agenda, which became the Love, Simon movie. Love, Simon then became a resource to start conversations about the difficulties of coming out and the pressure of assumed heterosexuality. & I think Imogen could become a similar resource for people trying to understand their own or a loved ones bisexuality. It has fantastic representation of queer questioning and struggling with identifies and that process’s difficulties and layers even in accepting spaces.

It’s also cute as hell and the characters are authentic!
