The swan-maiden Homay didn't manage to come to her husband Ural-Batyr's aid, he died of his wounds, and now she is abandoning her human form for good. The Bashkir (one of Turkic folks of Russia) epic poem "Ural-Batyr" illustration, heavily inspired by the musical video AY YOLA - Homay. Close-ups:
My 2025 creative activity [2]
I've decided my first Solas mixed media doll was not good enough, so I made the second one. And then I've made Spirited Away Haku as the third doll in this technique. Fun fact: if you try some handmade technique more than once in your life, every next try will get better and better results. Solas is 40cm long, Haku is 80cm long.

I wanted to honor Li Lun so much that I started drawing in digital. This is my first digital work (not bad for the first work, huh?). I have started it even before drama was over and finished it yesterday. The hommage to Li Lun/Zhao Yuanzhou is in two intertwined trunks of Li Lun's true form tree. My favorite part of the picture is the rattle drum, though.
Portraitober: results
There were 6 portraits in general but only these 4 are give-or-take OK. Day 1. Felix from GQ 2023 + Pencil brush & Gaussian blur. I drew with this brush before and like it well. Gaussian blur makes everything better (monochrome, app. 11-14%), should use it more. Day 2. Tried Ink pen brush and graphics. This brush appears to be not suitable for graphics and my graphics skills are totally absent, so I deleted the picture. Day 3. Lee Know from Maniac era 2022 + Watercolor brush & semitransparent Pencil line brush. Found the latter super suitable for tradition watercolor imitation. The background is filled one-stroke watercolor and the details are made with semitransparent wide pencil line. Day 4. Hyunjin from Maniac era 2022 + Oil brush. Tried to work here "from a spot". It appears to be the most suitable way for me to draw something right as long as it appears I am a painter, not a graphic artist (I'm super unhappy with this fact, I like graphics). The background spots were painted with the simple round brush and then textured by Oil brush. Day 5. Lee Know from Hollow era 2025 + simple Round brush. I found out that edges of hues could be smoother if blur them like during the work with soft pastel irl. Then I tried to use semitransparent glazing in order to smoothen the edges of hues even more. It works. Day 6. During Day 3 I found out that Pencil line brush is very suitable for graphics, so I tried to do some graphics once more. The brush is suitable, indeed. I'm not suitable for graphics, alas 😭. So I deleted this picture, too.

Of Love and Death
My favorite craziest couple of c-dramaland of 2025 appreciation.
My tribute to "The Silmarillion", part 2. Embroidery of Silmarils and their fate. To the Sea One Silmaril was thrown by Maglor in the depths of sea because it had burnt his hands unbearable. You can see here the ocean waves, the star of the House of Fёanor, Maglor's hair, Maglor's hands burnt to the flesh and the Everlasting light of Silmaril in them.
To the Earth The other Silmaril was buried in the core of the Earth with it's host, Maedhros, because of the pain that jewel caused. You can see here the red wave of magma swallowing Maedhros, two white lilies as a symbol of his death, the star of the House of Fёanor, Maedhros' hair, his golden hand instead of missing one, the left hand burnt to the flesh and the Everlasting light of Silmaril shining through his fist.
Arda Envinyanta The third Silmaril is in the hands of his creator, Fёanor. It`s told that at the end of times he will resurrect and break his jewels by himself in order to return the Everlasting Light to Arda Healed. You can see here some blooming flowers of Arda Healed, the star of the House of Fёanor, Fёanor's hair with the flower hairpin (each flower of which represents one of his seven sons), his hands adorned with rings and the Everlasting light of Silmaril above them.
