Forming a Sufi Character | Excerpt from the Elementary Sufi Course with Sufi Master @Younus_AlGohar on @ALRATV - 17 September 2019⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ As a Sufi, you must be very vigilant over your character. You have to keep your checks and balance. You cannot be rude as long as you are a Sufi. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔸Your character is directly linked with purity or impurity of your heart and Lower Self.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The ingredients of arrogance, deceit and ego are not in your mouth; they are in your Lower Self. When the Lower Self and its egoistic behaviour is crushed with the emergence of divine light, this is when the ego - arrogance - is gone and you find humility in your character.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Apart from what is linked with the Lower Self and the heart, there are only a few things that you will have to work on yourself.⁣ ⁣⁣ ❤️Treat everybody like you want to be treated. Do not think low of anybody. Speak gently.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Mevlana Rumi said, ‘Effectiveness is in your words. You don’t have to raise your voice to make it effective’.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ He also said, ‘The flower blooms by rain, not thunder’. Thunder doesn't do anything but scare people off.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🌟What you say and what you do reflects who you are. Generally, all practising Sufis are advised to eat less, sleep less and speak less. Refrain, at all costs, from speaking ill of others - especially behind their back. ⁣⁣ Mind your own business: worry about you own affairs, not those of others.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 💕Show kindness. Kindness is the mark of a good character. We need to ask ourselves questions like, ‘Are we kind?’ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When you are kind, you are kind to everybody - whether you know them or not.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

He smiles with all who smile, and mourns with all who weep; applauding strength, he is yet indulgent to weakness; offending no one, he has himself no need to pardon, for he never thinks himself offended; he pities those who misconceive him, and seeks an opportunitmy to serve them; by the force of kindness only does he avenge himself on the ungrateful…“
