Present Day
“Congratulations, Nanami-san! It’s a girl!”
Time stood still in the delivery room for Kento Nanami as he tried to process the news the OBGYN had delivered. Not only were you and the baby okay, but you also gave birth to a baby girl. That too, on his birthday. He’d wanted it for a long time, and now that it was coming to reality, he felt his heartbeats pacing rapidly.
His head then turns to you, as you lie there, heaving and panting with your hands splayed on your tummy, as your gaze fixates on him. He then runs by your side, holding one of your hands, tears welling up in both of your eyes, as you two shed tears of joy with the best news you could’ve heard in a long time.
As the nurse immediately placed the tiny girl in your arms, you smiled at the baby, gently rocking her to put her to sleep. Both of you look at each other and at the baby as you break the silence, softly muttering, “Kento, we did it! She’s here! How are we going to…”
He then puts an arm around your shoulder, bringing you closer to his chest, shushing you calmly as you feel the rhythm of both of your heartbeats returning to their normal pace. He responded softly, “Baby, we’re in this together, and we’ll get through this together.” Remember when you told me when we were expecting and how both of us were scared?”
You nodded in agreement, “Yes, and I couldn’t imagine having anyone else to join me on this rollercoaster ride other than you. Now we have her.” He smiles at you, responding, “Yes, we do. We’ll give the world to her and, someday, she’ll blow us all away.” When you return to the room, you chuckle. “Kento, how funny that you loved that song so much that you sang it to her while I slept!” His mouth gaped wide open, exclaiming, “What?! There's no way you could have known,” and raising an eyebrow. Throwing a knowing smile his way, Kento understood that you blurted it out of him, causing a tint of blush to dust his cheeks.
Three years ago,
The salaryman-turned-jujutsu sorcerer knew very well that it’s a cruel world we live in today, with the balance of good and evil always being tipped either way. In the aftermath of all the cases he investigated and the amount of tears he had to wipe away, coupled with the personal losses he had to endure, had caused him to harden his heart towards the possibility of pursuing a family, let alone a romantic relationship.
However, when you, a fellow jujutsu sorcerer, came into his life, he became so enamored with you that he realized he had to stop feeling that he couldn't provide for you. So, during your years of courtship, both of you worked harder than ever, and you realized that you wanted to be with each other for the long term.
One day, weeks into your engagement and months before your wedding, the two of you had discussed whether parenthood was something that was in the plan for the both of you. You then told him, “Kento, I’m not sure about being a mother. You see, the news that’s been spreading around everywhere? That scares me. It took me a while to even commit to you, let alone commit to raising someone. In addition, we're jujutsu sorcerers, and our jobs require us to be ruthless and cutthroat, so it's really difficult to demonstrate kindness and compassion. “I'm not sure if I'm ready to have a child yet”, to which he replied with a small sigh, “That's okay, baby. Whatever you decide, I’m there for you.”
You narrow your eyes at him, in confusion and say, “So, are you saying that even if I plan on not giving birth, or not having kids at all, would you still love me?” He then nods in agreement and responds, “Yes, because we have each other to love. I am irrevocably in love with you, flaws and all. In this world, as I’m a man, I’m supposed to be protecting you, especially from the world’s cruelties, but you’re someone who doesn’t need to be protected. You’re someone who has a heart that’s big enough to accept me. The fact that you chose to marry me, someone who thinks they’re unworthy of love, is, in fact, a miracle in itself. So, as a couple, we’re supposed to face what’s in front of us. Whenever you decide you want one, I’ll be ready, and even if not, I’ll still be here. We’re a team, and we’ll be a team, regardless. I’ll work hard to spoil you the way you spoil me.” This causes you to smile in awe of your husband-to-be as you hug him, thanking him for giving him the space you need.
Years after your summer wedding, in October, when you told him you were expecting, he got so teary-eyed that he vented about how scared he was to be a parent, more so than you, but you held his hand and assured him, “Kento, it's okay to be scared about being a parent. Being a parent is a lot of responsibility. I'm sure you'll do superbly, however. You are good with Yuuji, aren't you?” Kento’s friend and his senior at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Satoru Gojo, had entrusted a first-year high school student, Yuuji Itadori under his care, and as Yuuji came over a couple of times, both of you had been watching each other, and that’s when you realized that you needed to tell him that you were expecting.
Kento sighed and went back to sit on the living room couch to read a book. When you started humming and walking to him, sat by his side and sang a couple of lines while holding his hands, “I don't pretend to know the challenges you're facing, the worlds you keep erasing and creating in your mind, but I'm not afraid. I know who I married. So long as you come home at the end of the day, that would be enough—”
You stopped singing as you noticed Kento smiling at you while holding your hand and looking at your ring. With another hand behind your head, he brought it closer so that your foreheads touched each other, as both of you silently communicated that this was a new phase in your lives, one to endure together.
Three years later,
Ever since your little girl was born, as happy as you were for her birth, you have slowly retreated into a shell, unable to take care of yourself, let alone your child. Days, weeks and months would pass where you’d have sleepless nights, not feel hungry on occasion, and space out in situations, like the one time you let the milk boil over for too long, and with you especially having difficulty bonding with the baby, causing her to cry more. There were moments in your spacing out that even caused you to miss her first steps, and her first word: “Mamma.” Thus, there was more of “dadda” ringing in the house, than “Mamma.”
Kento, sensing that you were not your usual self, requested an extended paternity leave and rushed to your aid, taking care of the baby and encouraging you to go for therapy. A new normal was then established where he became a househusband like someone familiar, preparing your tiffin, pushing you to go to therapy to provide a change in environment for you, taking care of the baby by feeding her milk, changing her diapers, and putting her to sleep.
While with you, he didn’t lose his cool, and was very soft-mannered and kind towards you, but stern when he needed to be. He would hug you constantly, bathe you when you were unable to do so yourself, helped you vent out your feelings, and in the months that you were getting better, slowly, you even observed him singing “Dear Theodosia” to her to sleep.
An unexpected smile appeared on your face as you remembered the time you were expecting. As you were half asleep, your baby girl kept moving around, so he splayed his hand on top of your tummy and sang to both of you to lull you both to sleep, “Dear Theodosia, what to say to you? You have my eyes, you have your mother's name. When you came into the world, you cried and it broke my heart. I'm dedicating every day to you, domestic life was never quite my style. When you smile, you knock me out, I fall apart, And I thought I was so smart.”
He then hummed for a moment looking at you with a smile, and continued, “If we lay a strong enough foundation, we'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you, and you'll blow us all away. Someday, someday...” His gaze shifted to you, and he could feel the rumbling in your womb subsiding and heard you snore softly as you both fell asleep.
You then realized that you were missing around the house and the joys of being her mother, and you decided to try to be there for her. So, Kento encouraged you every day, teaching you to prepare the formula, to change the diapers and bond with her, and the ways she nowadays likes to sleep.
That slowly provided you the confidence you needed to bond with your girl. You started holding her with confidence that was gradually building up, causing her to smile at instances. You got her to hold your finger while trying to walk, and that eventually lifted your spirits.
One day when your three-year-old girl quietly entered your bedroom, she crawled up to your bed, and lay in between Kento and you, starting to sniffle. “Mamma, dadda,” she whispered, causing the both of you to open your eyes, and Kento responds to her softly, “Yes, sweetheart, tell me, did you have a bad dream?” She nodded, sniffling. You stroked her coiffed blonde hair in order to calm her down. That’s when an idea popped in your head.
You then asked, “Is it okay if I could sing you to sleep along with your father? I noticed that you like to hear him sing to you, but I was wondering if I could join in.” Your daughter nodded, responding, “Yes, Mamma.” Your eyes brightened reflecting the incandescent moonlight coming through the window. You then began singing, hesitantly, with Kento eventually joining in, and then both of you joined in together.
After that, you told her, “Goodnight, my baby, you’re our pride and joy,” and then you softly hear reply, “Night night, dadda,” and then, “Night night, Mamma.” You tried moving around to sleep, but then you felt a tug on your sleeve. You turned around, and realized that your daughter not only fell asleep, but also clung to your arm, for the first time in three years.
This caused you to gleefully smile at your husband as he mouthed, “I’m so proud of you, love.” As you replied, mouthing out a “thank you,” you turned to each other, caressed each others’ cheeks and you two fell asleep. You smiled to yourself, being thoroughly grateful that you have the father of your child by your side who not only carried you through your hard times, but took care of your daughter, and helped you reconnect with her. Truly, he was one of a kind, and you were in immense awe of him.

a/n: when i first chartered my list of fics i was going to write for tumblr, i had a fleeting idea for this song along with iwa, and when the collab came into existence, i knew what i had to do: bring the idea to fruition. taylor swift's one of my favs (y'all know this lol), so it's no surprise that my writing's based on one of her songs. plus, I thought of creating a moodboard instead of the usual banner. also, this is based on a two-year relationship i'd had with my ex in uni before i left for the states and he decided to stay in india and prepare for civil services exam. as always, likes, reblogs, and comments, especially reblogs are appreciated.
It had been a cold, chilly winter in Miyagi. The temperatures were almost unbearable. Taking a deep breath, you rubbed both of your mitten-covered hands together while blowing a warm breath in between them. While listening to calming music with your hands in your pockets, you walked along the sidewalk enjoying the snow. Suddenly, you paused along the tracks and took out your earphones, when you recognized a familiar face. One that you know all too well. While his familiar dark brown spiky hair was covered by a dark green beanie with dinosaurs on it, your gaze caught the man's olive-green irises. You took a step back in surprise, your breath caught in your throat, placing one hand on your chest as you realized who it was.
A soft smile spread across his face as he walked toward you. At that moment, you closed your eyes and took deep breaths as you tried to conceal your flushed cheeks, with all the memories you two shared flashing through your mind. From making fun of his best friend, Tooru Oikawa, to pranking the pranksters of Aoba Johsai, Matsukawa and Hanamaki, to going out on different dates: for coffee, for movies, for volleyball matches, for karaoke. The way you used to text each other, passing around secret notes, exchanging love letters, having clandestine encounters in the corridors, everything. He was your first kiss, your first love, and the one to whom you chose to lose your virginity, and as they say, “you never forget your first love.” You also felt a tug on your chest as you remembered the day you broke up with him.
You had seen many long-distance relationships break, and while you were amazed at how your parents could manage when they were apart for so long, with your father being in the merchant navy, nevertheless, you were scared that you would end up in the same situation. As a result, you dropped the bomb on Hajime Iwaizumi and told him why you had to end the relationship when he revealed that he was moving to the United States to study sports sciences and eventually work for a person he looked up to, Utsui Takashi. The truth is, you loved him too much to let him go. You loved the way he stood by your side whenever things weren’t going so well. You loved being engulfed in his embraces, and more so, you loved being lost in his kisses, every touch of his sending shivers down your spine. You knew he always treated you right; you especially experienced it, but you were afraid your relationship wouldn’t stand the test of time. In addition, he could see there was something wrong with you from miles away, but he never knew what it was until you revealed it to him.
When he heard what you felt, he was very upfront with you, albeit his gaze at you was laced with melancholy. “You know, baby,” he responded, with his shoulders drooping, “I’m actually hurt that you would think that our relationship would fade away as we meet different people, because trust me, what you and I have, I don’t think I can ever have that with anyone. However,” he reached out for both of your hands and held them, saying, “I’ll always be grateful for the memories we had together. I strongly believe that we’ll still find a way to each other, no matter what.” He then cupped your cheeks and planted a farewell kiss before leaving your house, concluding, “That’s because it’s always been you, my love. Always and forever.”
As you opened your eyes, you noticed him standing in front of you. He always had a great sense of fashion, wearing a pair of dark blue jeans with an oversized dark blue denim jacket over a grey hoodie. He was known to make things look good on him. He smiled at you, ever so softly, with his gaze never leaving yours. Unbeknownst to you, a warm smile crept upon your face, as you muttered your first word to him in years: “hey.” He also replied with a single word: “hey,” as you two stopped talking for a while, oddly finding comfort in the silence you two were sharing. You tilted your head and asked him, “It’s been a hot minute, Iwaizumi. When did you come back?” He let out a small chuckle, responding, “You know that you can still call me Hajime, right? I came back a couple of days ago for the holidays. I’ll be here until the second week of January.” Nodding, you weren’t sure as to how you could continue the conversation until an idea popped up in your head. “So, um,” you hesitated, before continuing, “Let’s walk together, to Sakanoshita and get some pork buns. What do you think?” He grinned at you, responding, “I thought you’d never ask.”
The walk to the store was not a silent one; instead, you two handled small talk well. You learned that Hajime was about to complete his senior year in undergrad in sports sciences and will be interning under Utsui Takashi, his role model, after college. He then reveals that Takashi turned out to be the father of his and Tooru Oikawa’s high school nemesis: Wakatoshi Ushijima. You both shared a light-hearted chuckle as he continued, saying that after the internship was over, he intended to work as a full-time athletic trainer and that he was attempting to become the trainer for the Japan National Volleyball Team for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. For some reason, this gave you a glimmer of hope.
As you two bought a couple of pork buns from Keishin, nodding at both of you before leaving the store, he was about to ask you whether you were currently seeing anybody when you interrupted him by telling him that you were pursuing your final year in your college studies in Tokyo with Tetsuro Kuroo, an alumnus of Nekoma High School, and you were set to work alongside him in the Japanese Volleyball Association. While his enthusiasm seemed to have died a little bit, thinking that you were probably seeing the former Nekoma captain, you then cleared your throat and confessed to him, something that he found oddly assuring.
“I don’t know where you stand, relationship-wise, but you were right, Hajime. I dated other guys, not Kuroo, because I told him about you, and we just became friends, but I dated other guys, and they weren’t you. They could never be you.”
As he held your hands in silence, a single tear drop streamed down his cold cheeks as he smiled in response to your confession. While you were confused as to what that meant, he asked you in a soft voice, “Do you still stay with your parents, or did you get an apartment of your own?” With a tint of blush hitting your cheeks, you nodded, replying, “I do stay on my own in Tokyo, but here I stay with my parents. However, they’ve gone to Bangkok to visit my relatives, and I told them that I'd be joining them soon, so until then, I live alone. Did you want to come over and spend some time?” He shook his head in denial, replying, “Not until you truly are ready to be with me again.”
Furrowing your eyebrows at him, he continued, “If I do end up coming over, the good memories will return, and I'll want you to commit to me. There’s no middle ground anymore, (y/n). It’s either we get back together, or we stay as acquaintances.” You were taken aback at his confidence. For a moment, you pondered and realized that he had never stopped having feelings for you. Respecting his opinion, you nodded, and suddenly, an idea popped into your head. “So,” you said, “I’ll not be here for long. Maybe a week or so. Until then, would it be okay if we hung out at your place with Mattsun and Makki, and during that time, we can see whether the feelings still exist, and we can, um, give it a go.” Smiling, he nodded in agreement. “Alright, seems fair. We can do that.”
He then called Mattsun and Makki and urged them to come to his house with a couple of board games and to set up video cameras to surprise someone that was coming home after a while. As you two ate your now lukewarm pork buns while walking to Hajime’s house, you started talking about the crazy moments that happened to the both of you while you were away working on your goals. Upon reaching the house, your memories come back as to how you met him in the first place. You then opened the door to find the boys shocked that you had come back, and as you looked at the video camera to their right that caught their expressions, you and Hajime laughed at them, much to their chagrin.
As the days went by, you four hung out often at Hajime’s house, playing different kinds of board games, exercising, watching movies, and catching up with each other. You would even video call Oikawa to surprise him, and he’d whine with a pouty face, “Why am I not there now?” to which you’d reply, “because someone chose to fly to exotic places over us,” with the rest of you cackling and laughing at the milkbread-loving setter. What was seemingly oblivious to Mattsun and Makki was that there were stolen glances exchanged between the both of you, you found your hands brushing against each other often, and you would mistake other people’s names for each other. One day, someone had dropped cutlery, and while you’d kneeled to pick some spoons and forks up, you noticed Iwaizumi kneeling to pick up the same, causing your faces to be a couple of centimeters apart, and as you two realized that the tension between you was so strong that you could use a knife to cut through it, you gulped a little bit of air down your throat.
The day before you were about to leave for Bangkok, you called him and started cajoling him, “Hajime, I need to talk to you. Would you be able to come over, please?” Exhaling a deep breath, he replied, “Okay, fine. I’m on my way.” You were pacing around the living room for fifteen minutes, confused as to why you were feeling this way until the doorbell rang and you rushed to open the door. When you unlocked the door, Hajime was standing on the front porch, shivering. His hands were in the muff of the dark blue hoodie, with his hood down so that you could see him clearly. His hair was disheveled as if he had run his hands through it one too many times. You let him in, a panting mess, looking as if he had just been jogging in the chilly weather. As you two sat on the warm couch near the fireplace, you knelt down.
This time you were the one holding his hands, causing him to widen his eyes. “Hajime, when I told you that all those people that I dated could never be you, I meant it. Sure, I was commitment-phobic as hell, and you know that, and I was scared that that would disturb our relationship should we go long-distance, because I’d be doubting you constantly, be jealous, and have all kinds of negativity in my head, but the truth is, I love you, Hajime. I always have, and I want you to be my boyfriend, and me to be your partner. I want to go ahead and fully commit myself to you, come what may. Always and forever, right?”
Smiling at you, he then cupped your cheeks, brought your face forward, and kissed you on your lips. No sooner did that happen than you enveloped yourselves in a deep kiss, eventually causing the two of you to peel the clothes off each other’s bodies. Every touch, every kiss, every action had the power to convey how much you still loved each other at this very moment more than words ever could.
An hour had passed since you two made love after four years, and you had wrapped yourselves in a blanket, sipping on some hot chocolate in front of the fireplace, nuzzling against each other. Suddenly, either one of the phones buzzes as Hajime kisses your forehead as he goes to the strewn pile of clothes and not only gets out his phone, which just had his alarm ringing, but also a small box. As you narrowed your vision to the small box, a number of thoughts spawned in your head. “Wait, is he asking me to marry him already?” You think to yourself. “Isn’t that too soon?” However, as Hajime brings the box to you and opens it, it didn’t seem like an expensive diamond ring, but it was one of those even more expensive platinum bands that must have been bought from a jeweler’s shop.
He then tells you, “(y/n), I’ve been aware of your fear of commitment ever since your cousin had a messy divorce, and your best friend’s eleven-year old relationship ended. When you broke up with me, while I was sad and heartbroken and you were citing your inability to commit, I imagined something: that years later, you'd tell me that you wanted to commit to me, and whenever you did so, I’d give you this ring. It’s not an engagement ring, it’s a promise ring. With this, baby,” He slides the ring onto your left ring finger and says, “I promise to love you and cherish you whenever you’re ready to take the next steps in the relationship, and I promise to walk alongside you, because baby,” he then holds both of your hands while saying, "There wasn’t anyone else in my life that I dated other than you, especially when I went to the States because I couldn't imagine anyone else but you by my side. It was always you, (y/n). Always and forever.”
Tears streamed down your cheeks as your gaze met with his. You then cupped his cheeks and kissed him on the lips, with both of your “I love you”s reverberating throughout the whole house. The next day, the quarter of the Seijoh 4 helped you pack your bags, and Hajime drove you to the airport. As he stopped in front of the airport, he saw you twiddling your thumbs while subconsciously biting your lower lip. He took one hand and intertwined his fingers with yours as you turned in his direction. He smiled at you, saying, “I promise you, love, this is not the end of us. In fact, it’s just the beginning.” Both of you were then engulfed in a warm embrace for what felt like an eternity. As you got out of the car and got your belongings, you then gave Hajime a kiss before leaving for Bangkok. If you learned anything from this trip, it was that ‘tis the damn season’s fault for bringing you two back together, because that kiss wouldn’t certainly be the last.
summary: due to many personal events, and events happening around you, you had started feeling wary of committing yourself to a relationship, until you met a certain someone.

a/n: I’m backkkkk! Also, a belated happy birthday to humanity’s strongest soldier (it was on the 25th)!! yes yes i’m very late in posting but, i’m glad i’m getting this out fnfndndnd. i first saw him in a fanart reel, after which i learned that some of my friends were watching it. then, when i started watching, what got me attracted to him, was not his looks, not his battle skills, not the laurels he’s achieved, but the way he’s learned from his childhood and has become stronger in his mind. this chapter is based on a real-life experience i’m going through and writing about it keeping levi in mind really helped me. also i am crossposting this from quotev.
It was just another day where you were undergoing training as a part of the Special Operations Squad of the Survey Corps under the leadership of Commander Erwin Smith and Squad Captain Levi Ackerman. All of you were preparing for the closing of Wall Rose with the secret weapon: Eren Yeager, in his Titan form. Unexpected, right?
When you lived in Shiganshina inside the Wall Maria in the past, you had become friends with Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert despite being 11 years older than them. You considered them to be your children and treasured them. Aside from being intelligent like Armin, brave like Eren, and skilled like Mikasa, you were also extroverted. It was clear that you did not hold back when it came to expressing your feelings. Your goal, like Armin’s, was to discover what life was like outside the walls. In your mind, this desire was a way to escape the harsh reality of your family situation.
Having just started living in Shiganshina after moving from The Underground, your father started working in the coal trading business, your mother teaching history in one of the best schools in the Stohess District of Wall Sina, and your sister was a professional artist despite having undergone physical abuse from her previous marriage, the life you were living wasn’t a bed full of roses, but you liked to think it was because you could have it all, being the youngest child.
There was one thing that kept bugging you, however. If you were to marry in the future, would your marriage last? In a world where your life could disappear in the blink of an eye, and you could lose people far sooner than you think, what’s to say that you’d be able to live a happy life with someone you loved?
Despite your parents’ disagreements, they eventually made up and became a stronger couple, but the experience still caused you to wince at confrontations in relationships. Also, because you lived in The Underground, you were subject to mockery from the elite, and different merchants frequently attempted to molest you, but you kicked them in their sensitive areas and ran, unaware they were looking for you, only to be killed the next day. Although you were compassionate with everyone, these thoughts clouded your head, making it difficult for you to fall in love.
You didn’t have time to think of anything else though, because you witnessed Carla Yaeger being eaten alive by the Smiling Titan, as Hannes, one of the unit captains of the Garrison, dragged you along with Eren and Mikasa. It broke your heart to lose Carla, who you were close to because you were neighbors. But you ran back to the houses, leaving Hannes’ hand, to check on your family, who were in danger, except for your mother who was in Wall Sina, but she called to check in on all of you. You seemed to have lost your father, as you didn’t know where he was.
Your sister’s feet and hands were crushed by the crumbling walls, so you called Hannes, who introduced you to Rico Brzenska, one of the Garrison's team leaders, who led you to Grisha Yeager, Eren's father, who was a doctor. While he treated your sister’s wounds, he was unable to save her feet and certain fingers. In addition to bandaging them and giving her some medical supplies that would have normally been expensive for free, Grisha advised her to move to Wall Sina to be with her mother so she could recover more quickly. Despite your sister’s concern, you promised her that you would fight for your family’s safety, and that you would find your father's location, and you kissed your sister goodbye, telling her you would see her later.
Like Eren, you joined the Survey Corps to kill every one of the Titans, but you somehow had a hunch before that the Titans seemed humanlike so killing them mercilessly wouldn’t make sense, so you’d search around for the meaning behind the deaths of many. Having joined the Special Operations Squad of the 104th Survey Corps, you were amongst the quickest to learn, and you had the natural leadership skills, having later earned the trust of Erwin Smith, the Commander, and Levi Ackerman, the Squad Captain.
You were also good at cooking, making sure that Sasha Blouse, one of your fellow cadets, got her first serving so that she wouldn't go hungry, and you were quick to control the commotion despite being one of the loudest. There was also something else that you made sure of. You told everyone to clean your quarters, telling them there’d be surprise inspections from the leadership team (usually just a lie to make sure the rooms were clean), failing which they’d receive punishment from the captain, and you’d have to keep an eye out for the troublemakers, Sasha, Connie Springer, and Jean Kirstein, to do their job well, even bribing Sasha with a delicious meal once she was done.
And the best part? You were hoping to catch Levi’s attention, not that you were doing all of this for him. It was your hope that he'd notice you at all, not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level, since you developed an infatuation for him when you saw him for the first time coming back from the 56th Expedition.
While everyone was looking at the Corps in awe and some with disgust when you first looked at Levi’s eyes, you saw pain, and your heart reached out to him. You saw him turn to you, noticing that you looked at him differently, with warmth in your eyes, and he left a small smile at you, indirectly thanking you for understanding him for what he was going through.
Even though you were a cadet, you were close with Levi, Erwin, and Hange Zoë, one of the other Squad Leaders, having been able to tame your fellow soldiers and an innate desire to learn about the secrets like Erwin, to research stuff and be a crackhead like Hange, and mature and understanding like Levi. Like Levi, you had your fair share of a high number of solo kills. That was only because the need to kill the Titans drove you as they endangered your family and killed Carla and, later on, Grisha. You later learn that another Titan killed your father, but had sent multiple letters to your family in Wall Sina, leaving them with provisions and fortune enough to carry forward with their lives.
The trust earned made Erwin promote you to a fellow Squad Captain along with Levi, who honestly was very delighted. He seemed to have an infatuation for you the moment he first saw you when he was coming back from the expedition, and even though you hung out with Hange a lot, researching the reason for the existence of the Titans, whenever she’d go overboard, you knew when to control her, reminding her to not put other soldiers’ lives at risk, causing Levi’s feelings to deepen over time. Although there was something that he could never understand about you. Why was it that, despite you being friendly with everyone, you looked like you had skeletons in your closet? Levi could trust you, so why couldn’t you trust him?
All those doubts were going to go away, when in the evening after the training session, you called Levi and told him to come to the rooftop of their headquarters for some tea. At nightfall, you were closing your eyes, praying to a God different from that of the Wallists, asking him to help you lay down the walls in your heart and open up to Levi, when you hear someone clearing their throat, revealing themselves to be Levi. He noticed that you’d prepared black tea for him, especially because he liked it. You also told him you liked your black tea with milk because that’s what you grew up drinking. That’s when you heard the most annoying response from Levi.
Levi snickers, clicking his tongue, “Tch. Black tea with milk. Why do you have to be so annoying with tea?” You respond, “Excuse me,” and playfully hit his arm. “It’s the one thing my parents loved to drink growing up. My father used to tell me stories of who he was before being sentenced to the Underground.” Levi, perplexed, inquired further, “What do you mean, who he was?” You responded, “My father’s not an Eldian by birth, but by marriage to my mother. He was not from Marley, either. He was somewhere from the Oriental.” Raising an eyebrow, he questioned, “Was he a part of the Azumabito clan?” You nervously chuckle, “Oh, no-no. But he lived nearby. That’s where he grew up drinking black tea with milk and now, I can’t drink it any other way.” You gave a soft smile, remembering the laughter that echoed in your house, only to now have been a distant memory. “Oh, boy,” Levi shook his head in disappointment. He saw you looking at the moon with sad eyes, and while with one hand, he was drinking tea, he put his other hand on yours. You left him a small smile, holding his hands after some time.
A comfortable silence lingered between the two of you, which he broke by inquiring, “You miss them?” “Hmm?” Breaking out of your reverie, you turned to him, causing him to question, “Your family. Do you miss them?” Sighing, you respond, “Yes, Levi. I do. My mother and my sister are all I’ve got. I was closer to my father, though. His demise is still hurting me.” As Levi came a bit closer, he put his head on your lap, with his face turned to you, and said, “Well, I never had a father, per se. But I miss my mother. She may have done a lot of wrong things, but I’m grateful that she gave birth to me.” You then put the tea set to a side, subconsciously patting Levi’s head and then humming a tune that you grew up listening to.
“Are you, are you comin’ to the tree
Where I told you to run so we’d both be free?
Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be
If we met at midnight in the hanging tree..”
You were ruffling Levi’s hair and humming in the presence of a full moon. You didn’t know why you were feeling this way for him. What started as an infatuation developed into a sense of respect and, eventually, love for him. While you were jealous of Petra following him around, you knew that his eyes were on you alone. You constantly worried about his safety, especially whether he’d make it back to you or not after every expedition, and whenever he came back, he would give you a pat on his head with a soft smile telling you, “I told you I’ll be back.”
In the blink of an eye, Levi felt something damp on his cheeks, and when he turned around, he saw you crying and looking at the moon. “Oi, brat,” he said as he turned his head to look up at you while his head was still lying on your lap. “Did some dust fall into your eyes or something? Your eyes are watering.” You attempt to wipe the tears from the corner of your eye, when you snapped jokingly, “Shut up, Levi. Sometimes you can be dense, you know.” Scoffing, he responded, “Me? Dense? Huh, please. All I was trying to do was lighten the mood." Levi and you softly smile at each other, as the soft wind blowing against your faces felt so calming when it was just the two of you. The squad captain then broke the silence by speaking to you softly, “What’s up, brat? Please talk to me.” You continue to tear up while silently holding his hands and looking at the moon. “I’m scared, Levi.” With a confused glance, he inquired, “Of what?”
You sighed and then responded, “Losing people. Letting them enter my life, only to lose them again. I don’t think it’s an extroverted or introverted thing at all. It’s just, the feeling is scary. I’m ready to give up my life if it means saving my family, my close friends,” then looking at Levi, “or you. You mean a lot, you know?” Levi’s eyes widened. He didn’t think that you felt strongly for anyone, let alone him. “Levi, I-”
“Shh,” he places a finger on your lips, interrupting you. He then gets up, with his back facing the moon and him facing you, and after wiping the tears off your face, he holds your hands, sighing. “I fear letting people in as well, brat, only to lose them, too. When Kenny abandoned me, that’s when I thought I wasn’t good enough. For anyone. For my mother, for Kenny, Farlan, Isabel, Erwin, Hange, or-”
“Me?” you completed his sentence, looking into Levi’s eyes, as he was stunned by the fact that you remembered. “I remember you telling me about how Farlan and Isabel passed away. It must have been really heartbreaking.” For a moment, he looked down on the ground and shook his head in dejection. “You do not know how I felt, (Y/N). It seemed like a wave of anger consumed me when I saw them. They were all I had. They made me feel special. Now, Erwin does, and you do, but I fear losing you more than Erwin. Is it wrong for me to feel this way?” You then cup his cheeks with your hands and tell him, “crazy, yes. But wrong, I’m not sure. I fear letting you in, even though I’m so irrevocably in..”
“Love with me? So am I, with you, I mean.” Levi’s confession shocks you, this was not how you expected the conversation to go. “I mean it, brat. Yes, you’re loud, you can be obnoxious, you’re like Four Eyes,” he rolled his eyes, causing you to giggle a bit, and he softly smiles, “but I adore you more, for many reasons. You’re unafraid to call out on people’s actions, although you’re close to Eren, Mikasa, and Armin and you feel the need to protect them, yet you choose me over them if I’m saying something that makes sense. But…” You sensed that he was going to ask you something so you completed it for him, “But? If this is about me not talking about my past, it’s not that I don’t want to talk about it. I just find it futile to relive the hurt, the pain, the creepy touches…” As you shudder in fear reminiscing the painful memories, the calmness in his eyes turned to anger as he pressed your hand hard as if he was going to crush it. “Did those bastards at The Underground try to…”
“Take advantage of me?” You nodded, “Yes. But I’d kick them and run away, only to find them being killed the next day instead. I still don’t know who did so, but I wanna thank them, you know?” Levi threw a knowing smile, not just because he noticed you seemed freer than before, but that you were finally going to learn the truth. “You can thank me for sure. I didn’t know that you were the one these merchants were hurting, but when I learned of the news, I felt I should take justice in my hands, and so I stole from them before killing them.” You were shocked and didn’t know what to say. Appalled at the lengths Levi went to protect people, it scared you he may turn into a ruthless soldier devoid of any feelings if he killed those merchants.
You got up off the ledge of the roof, walking back, carefully passing the tea set beside you, and Levi was walking towards you, then looking at the tea set, with a surprised gaze, as if he’s seen the set somewhere before. He then was told to sit down and you continued to talk to him while he was looking at the tea set. “Levi, I remember meeting your mum around the time my family was in The Underground not knowing you were her son. She was very kind to me, and always brought me food to eat despite her having gone hungry on a couple of occasions. She may have looked sickly, but she’d sworn to look after you in any way possible. It was sad that what job she ended up taking was one of the most painful jobs ever. She’d given me this tea set to hold on to and said to give it to her son when he ends up getting to know me. Was your mother’s name Kuchel by any chance?”
Tears streamed down his cheeks, realizing that his mother will always be with him no matter what. Levi then looks at you and nods his head in agreement. You then hold his hands and talk to him, “Oh poor Levi. I’m so sorry for all the pain you went through. Both of us have had different backgrounds, but the pain is pain. It hurts the same no matter what.” He agreed with you, heaving a sigh of relief knowing that there was someone out there who loved him despite him carrying all this baggage. “You know something? I’m afraid of committing myself to someone. What if they just love me for how I look and not for who I am? What if they just love me for how I perform in the training and in the battle and nothing more? What if I’m not good enough for them?”
Levi again places a finger on your lips, giving you permission to wipe his tears off his cheeks. He then cups your cheeks with his hands, brings them forwards, and gently kisses you. You can tell that he’s been wanting to kiss you, wantonly for eons now, but he’s taking his time, enveloping your lips with his, expressing his sheer love and desire to be with you, regardless of what the circumstances may seem. After what seemed like an eternity, both of you pull back and press your foreheads against each other, where Levi confesses, “why don’t you get it? You’re good enough for me. You don’t have to reveal everything about your life to me right now, but when I’m with you, I feel like I’ve known you for ages. I want you. I don’t say it all, because I’m scared of my feelings, but with you, it feels easy. I want you, brat. I’m so in love with you, that I need you to be by my side when we’re fighting the Titans. I’ve always been a loner, but ever since I met you, I don’t ever want to be alone again.”
Those gray eyes conveyed a level of honesty you hadn't seen for quite some time. Your mind raced as you tried to recall the last time someone expressed their love to you. His words seemed like a balm to the aching wounds of your heart. “Levi,” you softly called out, as he held your right hand and his other hand cupped your left cheek. “I’m not perfect. I’m not done going back to my family yet. I’m not done avenging my father’s demise yet. I can’t do this alone. If you really do love me…”
“(Y/N),” he softly calls out to you, “nothing’s going to stop me from loving you the way you are. I understand there are walls around your heart and I have them too. But, we’re going to have to work together to overcome them. I… love you. I hope you know that. Now that I know that you love me too, I’m going to tell you and show you all the more. Okay?” Both of you then end up in a warm embrace, for somewhere longer than twenty seconds, which, according to science, was enough, to build trust between the people hugging. You may have not known what the future brought, but you were certain that it brought with you someone that you’d hold close with all your might and that you’d give your best to not let him out of your sight. That’s when you decided to let him in your heart by saying, “Okay, my love.”

(be mindful of the byf’s and dni’s)
He saw you stepping out of your house in a blue gown with (h/c) bun earrings and a silver necklace as Dr. Stephen Strange's car came up to you. As Stephen emerges from the vehicle, clad in a black suit, black trousers, a white shirt, and black shoes, his stare never leaves yours as you descend the stairs to the car, him being taken aback by your beauty. He approaches you with one hand which you hold, opens the door for you to sit in the car, and runs to his seat while maintaining eye contact with you.
He remarked, “Dr. (L/N), you look stunning!” when he got into the car.
You smile and respond meekly, “oh, really? Thank you,” while nervously tucking your hair behind your ears, your gaze fixed on the stereo.
He smiles and drives you to your normal hangout spot. You reflect on how your relationship with him has evolved in an unusual way.
While you two initially were colleagues, you as a medical researcher and him as an arrogant neurosurgeon, he was very gentle towards you, having known of your previous relationships with people like him, who were selfish workaholics, and he didn't want to treat you the same way. However, his established relationship with Dr. Christine Palmer, who was extremely nice & kind to you, despite her knowing of your feelings for him, for the sake of keeping the friendship intact, moved you, so you let it slide.
After his accident that caused him to lose control of his hands, and his attempts to restore them resulting in a breakup with Christine, you wanted to help him. So, you introduced him to Jonathan Pangborn, who'd gained miraculous healing, and encouraged Stephen to go to Kamar Taj, where he was cured. Strange, on the other hand, did not maintain in touch with you after being cured and studying the Magic of the Mystic Arts in order to keep you safe.
When you did meet him again years after he took up residence in the Sanctum Santorum and after “The Blip” occurred, in a coffee shop next to your apartment, you smiled at him, and to your surprise, he hugged you and spoke with you as if he didn’t just go to another country or another dimension or broke the laws of time for the sake of humanity.
“(Y/N),” he puts his hand on yours while you two were sitting at the table, “I need to tell you something.”
Nodding, you reply, “go ahead, Stephen.”
Taking in a deep breath, he asks, “(Y/N), I don’t know if you know this, but I’m now a-”
You put your hand forward and halt him, and say, “you’re now a superhero, is it?”
Widening his eyes, he asks, “wait, how did you know?”
You laugh and reply, “well, I saw you in the news on the streets of New York when you were fighting people,” then you shrug your shoulders and snap your fingers, “and the next thing you know, you’re taken away from the universe in a snap.”
With his mouth gaped wide open, Stephen asked, “wait, did you go away too?”
This time, you were shocked as you nodded in agreement. He then explained everything that happened and you somehow took it all in, responding calmly, “Stephen, I’m so sorry that you had to go through all that. I hope there’s something I can do to help.”
Suddenly, an idea strikes your head, “wait, are you free on Saturday?”
He tilts his head to look at you in confusion, “what for?”
You then reply with excitement, “well, I’m presenting a paper that I finally published after everything that happened at this conference, so would it be okay if you could be my plus one?”
He smiled, noticing that you were hinting at a distraction for him to be more involved with people, to which he nodded, saying, “okay, I’ll pick you up. Is that okay?”
You nod, “it’s a date.”
A few hours later, as you two left the conference room, Stephen broke the silence between the two of you, stuttering, “Dr. (L/N), that was such a beautiful presentation!”
As your eyebrows rise, you smirk, “were you talking about the presentation or about me?”
His hands were in his pockets and his eyes were pointed towards the door as he laughed, his smile turning into a frown.
“Oh, damn it!” he cried, as he held your hand and ran outside.
“Stephen, where are-” you asked as you were dragged in his direction as the clanking of your heels reverberated down the corridors until you went out the door and saw that it was pouring down rain.
He exclaimed “Oh, for goodness' sake, now what?” while you laughed hysterically.
As he furrowed his eyebrows at you, you run to the middle of the street to feel the raindrops patter against your skin. While you twirled around in the rain with your eyes closed, Stephen smiled at you and decided to join in. As he ran towards you and put his arms around your waist, jolting you out of your reverie, you focused your (e/c) orbs on his greenish-blue eyes, smiling at him as you wrapped your arms around his neck, combing through his jet-black hair and a few gray strands that tangled with the ends.
“You have such lovely eyes,” you say as you smile at him, while he strokes your cheeks and presses his lips against yours as he moves closer to you.
As you two began to kiss hard, locking lips, you didn't care about how you were soaked in the rain. After several moments, you two released each other from the kiss, keeping your foreheads touching and eye contact intact. At this moment, your heart was quietly singing in the rain.

After years of courtship, the day Kento Nanami and you got married felt like a dream come true. You could both feel yourself falling in love with each other all over again as you recite your vows to each other.
The next morning, you awoke with half-closed eyes in a new bed that was all too familiar, yet the velvet bedsheets didn’t smell the same. You had laid on the same bed before, albeit in a different role, and now it smelt of love, lust, and eternal commitment to you.
You clutched the sheets close to your chest, the realization hitting you that you had begun a new life in your new home with your brand new husband. When you get out of bed, you notice that the other side of the bed is empty. Your gaze scans the room for his presence until you notice him smiling at the door.
When you two first started dating, you told him you liked sandwiches for breakfast, so as a way of expressing his love for his now-wife, he would wake you up to a sumptuous breakfast in bed. A chicken and egg club sandwich, tomato soup with croutons, freshly squeezed orange juice, and an envelope? As you wondered what was inside the envelope, you could tell he'd gone all out. “Good morning, wife,” he said as he kissed you on the cheek.
You fully opened your eyes to see his perfectly aligned face, as if he had been molded with great care and intricate detail. You get up, see the breakfast, and thank Nanami by kissing him on the cheek. After you finish your breakfast and drink your juice, he says with a knowing smile, “You can open the envelope now, baby,” after noticing you eyeing the envelope several times.
You open the envelope and take the contents out. Your eyes sparkle as you notice two plane tickets to Paris. You looked at Kento, your eyes widening and your mouth agape, and he smiled and said, “Those are our honeymoon tickets, love. Remember how you'd always wanted to visit Paris? So, in a month's time, we'll be in Paris.”
A slew of emotions flood your mind, and then you remember that the trip to Paris was in August, around the time of your relationship's three-year anniversary. However, his birthday was approaching, and you had planned something special for him, that being closer in date. Your other hand reached for the bedside drawer, and you were rummaging through it to find another envelope, flashing your index finger to request a moment.
Your husband raises an eyebrow at you while a knowing smile spreads across your face. While you are handing him the envelope, he opens it and discovers two flight tickets to Bangkok. He was surprised that the date of departure listed was the day before his birthday, and it seemed that you knew him well. It wasn't Malaysia, but Thailand was one of the countries he wanted to visit, and it was one of the small details you remembered about him.
“Love,” he said softly to you, albeit still in shock. “Bangkok?” His gaze softened at the tickets and at you, as he was in awe of how good you were to him. Heaving a sigh, he responds, “Wow, I didn't think you'd remember.” You chuckled, pushed the breakfast table aside, and drew him closer to you on the bed. “How could I ever forget love? Although it was not Malaysia, I recall Thailand being on your list of countries to visit. It's just that, while being completely overwhelmed by your love for me, my first thought upon seeing the Paris tickets was,” you continued, shrugging your shoulders, “What do I do with the Bangkok tickets now?”
He continues, earning a chuckle from him, “I believe we should go ahead and celebrate my birthday. Don't you agree?” You then tilt your head, and ask, “Well, what about the Paris trip?” In response, he raised an eyebrow and asked, “Do you think we can afford both of them?”
You nodded in agreement, “Kento, we discussed this before we got married.” You continued, “If we ever surprise each other like this again, we'll make it a point to find a compromise that allows us to keep our surprises. So, we'll take a long vacation from work, celebrate our honeymoon, your birthday, and our relationship anniversary, and then return in August. What do you think?”
He rubbed his hands together and pursed his lips, his gaze drawn elsewhere, as if lost in thought. Then he looks at you and says, “I'll have to consult with Yaga-sensei on this, but sure thing. I guess it's about time we took a break.” Hearing this made your eyes sparkle with delight, and you engulfed him in an embrace, responding. "Yay, thank you so much, baby!"
Over the next few days, you go through some old photos and smile at the memories flashing in your mind, while booking certain tourist attractions off the top of your head. Kento saw you in your element, and albeit curious as to what got you so excited about this trip, he was unaware that the country they were visiting was all too familiar for you, and the memories? All the more nostalgic. By July 1st, the tickets and the itinerary were both ready. Regardless of whether you were a planner before, or you were someone of spontaneity, he was taken aback by your dedication to making sure this honeymoon was a success.
July 2nd
The next morning, both of you fly from Haneda Airport via Thai Airways. It was adorable seeing him sleep with the neck cushion on during the flight, so you would take pictures to tease him later on. You then arrive in Thailand in the afternoon, six and a half hours later. As you drive downtown, you check in to the Ambassador Hotel, conversing for the first time in Thai in public with the receptionist, catching Kento by surprise. He thought to himself, “I did not know that she was, in fact, a polyglot.”
Both of you then unpack and get ready to have dinner at El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse, which was one of your favorite restaurants when you visited there, but he didn’t know that. While he was wearing a white full-sleeved shirt underneath a dark gray suit and a pair of dark gray trousers with loafers, you were wearing a maroon lacy half-sleeved dress with black heels. As you two sat down at a table, you were greeted by a seemingly handsome French waiter named Jacques, who spoke politely with the both of you, and arranged for the meals. As expected, you see Kento gorging on the appetizers: Crusty French bread with garlic butter and mac and cheese, causing you to chuckle quietly. He’s usually very careful about eating in public, but the food seemed to be too good for him to care.
While you dined on the aglio olio pasta (it was flat noodles, something Kento disliked), and while he ate some well-cooked steak, Jacques kept throwing stolen glances towards you and flirting with you, irking Kento enough to show it on his face. With you catching wind of what Jacques was doing, you nonchalantly mentioned that you were on a honeymoon with your husband, so that he’d get a hint. Nevertheless, the waiter was still casually flirting with you, causing your husband to be jealous, and you laughed at Kento's antics, finding them cute.
As you both reached the hotel for the night, you asked him cheekily, “How was the food, baby, or was your attention not on the food tonight?” Kento scowls at you and starts chasing after you. You were quite pleased to get him to open up his playful side for you alone to see.
July 3rd
The next day, as it was his birthday, both of you lazed around on the bed for a while. As the sun’s rays passed through the windows and fell on your faces, both of you smiled at each other, with you caressing his cheek with your knuckles, wishing him, “Happy birthday, husband.” With this, both of you cuddled up to each other for some time. As you hummed into his chest, he caressed your cheek, and suggested that he wanted to try a new cuisine.
So, you suggested having breakfast at Dosa King, an Indian restaurant nearby, as you were told that the Indian food there tasted good, and the breakfast there was definitely good. As you two gorged on some South Indian delicacies, you spoke a little Thai with the waitress who was looking after the both of you today. She somehow remembered you, and that encouraged you to speak with her more, and you thus earned a discount and a free dessert for his birthday, surprising him.
Following that, you went to a mall that had good discounts for shopping, but instead of taking long hours to shop, you chose exactly what you wanted from the mall, and that pleased him greatly. Then, you’d taken him to the Silk Spa and had booked a couples massage for the both of you in advance.
As the both of you were being lathered in oil, and as every touch of the masseuse and masseur was alleviating the aches in your bodies, you’d heard Gojo trying to call for the both of you. The incessant calling irked the both of you, thus switching off your phones for a moment. Then, you asked Kento, “Baby, how do you like the holiday so far?” He looks at you, smiling, and says, “I love it so far. I’m excited to see what you have planned.”
Then, in the evening, you take him to The Moon Bar, and sit in one corner with both of you being served the best drinks from the bar, and they were complimentary too, owing to the occasion. As you’d seen not a ton of people on the dance floor, you in your black full-sleeved dress dragged him, who was clad in a blue-and-white-striped shirt and blue trousers, onto the dance floor.
Having downed a couple of glasses of vodka, you were slightly buzzed, and started grinding against him with your fingers raking through his hair, causing him to maintain his calm as much as possible. When you two get to the hotel room, however, it was certain that you wouldn’t be able to keep your hands off of each other, like how you had to stop getting handsy weeks before the wedding, thus consummating your marriage for the first time.
July 4th
This time, you decided to take him to Pattaya, but instead of checking out, you just took one suitcase and made sure to freeze the hotel room for two days. You stopped at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo on the way and took pictures with the cubs and tigers. You then went to the Vista hotel and checked in with your single suitcase. Because the Vista Hotel was close to Jomtien Beach, you told him to go ahead and that you'd be there later. Jomtien Beach had you both in awe because it had the cleanest sand and the clearest waters. It wasn't too crowded. He was sitting on a lawn chair, soaking in the scenery and reading a book while drinking coconut water when he turned to the left and saw you in a swimsuit approaching him, causing his mouth to gape open. In turn, you noticed he was wearing a dark-blue floral shirt with off-white shorts, and your mouth dropped open at the sight.
You chastised him for reading at the beach instead of swimming. You then approached someone who appeared to be familiar to you. He raised an eyebrow as you greeted him. He then realized you'd booked a half-day tour to Coral Island for the following day, and that in the meantime, you'd try parasailing and jet skiing again. While Kento was curious about adventure sports because he had never done them before, he was more concerned about your vertigo because he knew you suffered from acrophobia. So he asks, "Are you certain you'll be okay?" You take his hand in yours and say, "I'll be fine with you by my side."
You take deep breaths and hold his hand tightly as the harness secures both of you to the parasail while you sit on the boat with your legs straight. When the winds lifted you both into the air, you let out a high-pitched scream, fear and excitement gripping your legs at the same time. You don't even realize you're laughing as Kento turns to face you. "Kento, see!" you exclaim to him. "I'm taking off!" He shakes his head, kisses your forehead, and says louder, “No, baby, we're flying! I see what you're doing and want you to know that I'd love to do different things with you.” You were giggling so hard that you didn't realize you were about to be dragged down to the boat. As both of your feet touched the boat's deck, you realized you were still holding his hand. You didn't stop grinning at him even after your heavy breathing stopped.
After that, you were taken to the shore and required to wear life jackets, which is when Kento noticed you in your element. You started the engine, gripped the handles, and whizzed past your husband, just as your instructor had instructed. It took him a while to get a handle on the speed because he was dazed. You kept grinning, feeling nostalgic about this. You'd done it before, and you knew you could do it again. Suddenly, someone whizzes past you, causing a wave of water to splash on you. When you turned to your right, you saw a grin on Kento's face, who was finally excited about this. You laughed as you were relieved to see Kento relax into vacation mode, which lifted your spirits.
After a half-hour of jet skiing, you both decide to return to the hotel to relax. While you two were unwinding, Kento cleared his throat and asked, "Baby, you seemed to know a lot about the place, and the language as well." "Have you visited here before?" That's when you felt a sense of emptiness wash over you as your entire body sank into the pillow. Kento engulfed you in a tight embrace, sensing something was wrong, and asked you concernedly, “What happened, sweetheart? Did I say something inappropriate?” Your vision blurred as tears welled up in your eyes, and you began crying into Kento's chest. “Kento, remember how much I miss my sister?” you said, looking up at him. As he nodded, remembering your sister's death a few months ago, you sniffled, “This was our family's first international trip together, and my sister and I did a lot of things together.” I thought that by going to Thailand, you'd be able to see a part of me that I'd left behind here, as well as see the places I visited and-”
Kento then caressed your hair, soothing you as you were saddened by your sister's memories as your bond grew stronger on this trip. “I remember, love,” he replied. “I'm sorry you had to go through this.” Both of you then snuggle into each other, as he continues, “I want you to understand something, baby. Now that we're here, we'll focus on making new memories together rather than replacing old ones.” You nodded in agreement, and an invisible burden was lifted from your shoulders.
July 5th
In the morning, you went to Jomtien Beach again and went to Coral Island on a ferry. As you reached Coral Island, you were in awe of its beauty. The clear blue waters, the white sand, the smell of well-cooked seafood. Ooh, seafood! You thought to yourself! Giving a kiss on Kento’s cheek, you told him that you’d be right back. You ran to the best seafood restaurant and got him some shrimp ahijo with bread on the side, his favorite dish, and as you brought that to him, your mouth gaped wide open as you saw him bring to you a necklace with seashells on it.
You were astonished that he remembered that you’re someone that was heavily into collecting seashells, so this touched you. As both of you took a selfie, Kento took your phone to look at the pictures when he came across the pictures of him on the flight. Raising an eyebrow at you, he snatches the necklace from you, causing you to exclaim, as you kept running after him, “Hey! What was that for?”
As you stopped running on the sand and started laughing, he replied, “No, you’re not going to take any pictures of me like that, baby. Not until we go to the Ripley’s Museum.” You were surprised; he went through your itinerary after all. Grinning, you continue, making your way back to the ferry, “You can never resist a well planned itinerary, huh?” As you turned your head back at him and blew a kiss his way, he couldn’t resist your cuteness any longer, so he ran to catch up with you and put the necklace on you, kissing your temple.
The trip to Pattaya ended when, on the same night, you both visited the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, but you didn’t just go there to tour inside. You told Kento that you wanted to go to the Infinity Maze. Both of you wore white gloves and socks, leaving your shoes outside. As you entered the maze, a plethora of different colored lights flashed before your eyes in a kaleidoscopic manner, and every door you opened, every pathway that you used, led to the both of you hearing different songs and seeing different brilliant designs. As Kento turned to you, while you were engrossed in the beauty of the lights, he quietly sighed, considering himself lucky to have you.
July 6th–9th
The next day, the two of you stopped by the well-known Pattaya floating market to visit and at the Alangkarn Theater to watch a show there for about an hour. He was in awe of the cultural display portrayed through different performances and the story being told. After taking tons of pictures, you finally managed to reach Bangkok in the night, exhausted.
The following two days went by like a breeze, where this time it was Kento taking the initiative to plan the itinerary. On these days, he takes you to a well-known onsen, where the both of you soak your bodies in warm water, relaxing for some time; then to the Asiatique Riverfront to buy clothes and shop for everything else; and finally, he surprises you with a visit to Hard Rock Cafe, where there was an open mic night, where you got to sing on the mic, with everyone applauding. He was enamored by the way you shone on the stage in the sparkling silver dress you were wearing. He noticed your eyes shining like the stars in the sky and was enthralled by your mellifluous voice.
On the 9th, as you two prepare to leave Thailand, on the flight back to Tokyo, you look into each other’s eyes. Kento breaks the silence by speaking up, “Baby, when I met you, I didn’t imagine that we’d get together, let alone get married. But, we celebrated my birthday during our honeymoon this week, and I can’t imagine having done that without you.”
Sighing, you responded, “Kento, I’m glad that not only did you get to see Thailand through my eyes, but we also got to celebrate the beginning of our never-ending fairytale, and I’m excited about what Paris has in store for us.” With that, you press your lips onto his as he places a lock of your hair behind your ear while being lost in your kisses. He responded with a wink and a soft moan, “Baby, you have no idea what I have in store for you in Paris,” and with that, you suddenly felt your thighs clench hard.

Blank. Your mind had gone blank, as you couldn't hear the voices of your surroundings. All you could hear was your heart beating and your heavy breathing. Maybe you hear the occasional screams and sneers in your head. Your heart was thumping to the point where it felt like it was going to pop out of your rib cage. You were having trouble breathing, and you felt something snap on your back as you quietly yelled, “Ow!” as you forcefully came out of your panic reverie.
“(Y/N), are you okay?” Your sister-in-law, Lady Kiyoko, the Countess of Karasuno, inquired calmly, sensing that you were sweating and your hands were getting clammy. All of you were at The SatTen Thread, with the Modiste, Satori Tendou, trying to fit you into the corset he’d prepared just for you, and had just yanked the laces of the corset. The corset was stitched well enough to tighten you in the right places, elevating your bust. The fact that this was causing you slight discomfort caused your eyebrows to be pulled down, your nose to be wrinkled, the lips to be loose, with the upper one being pulled up, and the eyes narrowing. “Is the corset too tight, ma cherie?” Satori inquired as you shook your head in denial, breathing heavily. “It’s not about that, monsieur, it’s just,” you continue, sighing, “I just don’t see the point of this really.” You were not exactly lying.
It was not about the corset at all, but the ordeal that was bothering you. You really did not see the point of dressing up, promenading with different suitors, being an active part of the season to impress the eyes of the ton, especially when you’re at the age of six and twenty. However, what was more daunting for you (and you did not want to show that on your face,) was the idea of meeting a potential suitor at this season’s inaugural event, the Inarizaki Beautillion Ball.
It is said that for the past two years, the King, Keishin Ukai, wanted to shake up the season by inviting the gentlemen from the ton and declaring a beautillion ball to see who would be the season’s “Blue Sapphire,” the highest prestige bestowed upon the concerned nobleman by the King, and the most eligible bachelor for this season, in addition to having the season’s “Diamond,” the same applying to women.
One day, the King was walking along the corridors with Lord Ojiro, the Prince of Inarizaki, who was organizing the said Beautillion Ball, when he remarked, “I yearn for someone fresh, someone unexpected, to turn the season on its head. That is what we need. There is no room for indifference. Apathy is a blight the monarchy simply cannot endure, especially when it comes to choosing this year’s ‘Blue Sapphire’. ”
Ojiro nodded and replied, “True, Your Majesty, but a young gentleman cannot be a Blue Sapphire unless you anoint him as such. When you started the tradition of choosing the ‘Blue Sapphire’ along with the ‘Diamond,’ the ton obviously did not take it too kindly. But in the last two seasons, they’ve noticed that while we do look into the most eligible suitor, our “Diamond,” from the noblewomen, we’re establishing equal opportunity and doing so for the men as well, keeping a more watchful eye over them. So if for any reason you do not find one among the candidates today—”
King Keishin rolled his eyes and continued, “—then Lord Whistledown would surely cause a stir in his pieces of paper. We have heard nary a peep from him since last season ended. In retrospect, the writer may have realized that taking on his king was a bad idea, and he made the decision never to publish again. Or,” the King continued as he shrugged, “He simply went to the country, as the rest of us did in the off-season, bored by the lack of any real gossip. Do you know what that would make him?” Both of them scowl when they realize it, and remark at the same time, “One of us.”
This year, the Beautillion Ball was being organized by Prince Ojiro, who had earned a good reputation amongst the ladies after he came back from Tokyo after a couple of successful business ventures. He was a man of good repute, and his connections could propel opportunities for the Kingdom to advance into the waves of modern society.
You realized that you had to use this opportunity to look your prettiest, should you find a suitor there. However, no one knew that you had a secret side of you that only lurked in the early mornings, within the pages of books, and when you played pall-mall and cricket. The modern era would call you a “tomboy” in the truest sense, and you would agree, but it was surely safe to say that you were not for this era. Besides, you didn’t see the point of the corsets other than to make you feel, well, uncomfortable about yourself.
“You know,” your other sister-in-law, Lady Lydia interjected as she was looking at herself in the mirror as she was wearing the new yellow empire waistline dress that the modiste made especially for her, “It isn’t really that bad. I mean, since your brothers were last year’s Blue Sapphires and—” You interrupted her by saying, “—they’re doing just fine.” You nodded, responding, “I know. I mean, my eldest brother Daichi got to marry you, and that’s surprising in the eyes of the ton indeed,” with Lydia giggling, and a tint of blush hitting her rosy cheeks.
You’d met Lydia, the now Duchess of Karasuno, at one of your closest friends', Lady Ella’s Ball, years ago. Ella had just become the Duchess of Nekoma, having married Lord Kenma, the Duke of Nekoma. You were Ella’s maid of honor, and Lydia was one of the bridesmaids. At first, something about her hairstyle confused you. She decided to have her hair be short and curly, and was even conjuring up plans to make a mullet.
However, you then get to know her free-spirited yet caring and empathetic nature. You also learned that when she took the leap of faith to change the way she looked, she was initially scared of what people would say about her haircut because her parents, who were not royalty, scolded her in terms of who would marry her, but then later she shrugged it off.
You were so adoring of Lydia that you invited her to the first ever Beautillion Ball, where your eldest brother, Lord Daichi, the newly appointed Duke of Karasuno, was crowned that year’s “Blue Sapphire.” As her hazel eyes lay upon Daichi’s dark brown irises, he was taken aback by her unconventional looks and eventually warmed up to her personality. While many people were against this union, you and Daichi fought for it to happen.
Similarly, the following year, when Lord Ryuunosuke, the Earl of Karasuno, was named the Blue Sapphire, he already had his eyes set on his future wife: Lady Kiyoko of House Shimizu. However, it took his multiple attempts to be rejected by Kiyoko and a proposal from Lady Kanoka for her to see that he would never give up on her no matter what, and that’s how they got married.
This year, as you, being the third eldest in the family, and also, this season’s “Diamond,” were now in line to get married, most of your family were excited to hopefully find your new suitor at the ball. However, there were some things holding you back from being truly excited about the regalia. As you were then trying on the new dress in the mirror, and how your coiffed hair complimented everything else, you thanked the modiste nevertheless for the outfit, and walked back to your carriage with Lydia and Kiyoko.
As you were being driven back home via the carriage, numerous thoughts drowned out the conversation your sisters-in-law were having with each other. You start to remember exactly why you went blank at the modiste. Your thoughts go back to the last season, at Ella’s Ball, where Lord Whistledown’s gossip sheet was spread around and it read:
Dearest gentle reader,
As the social season draws to a close, I personally would like to congratulate Lord Kenma, the Duke of Nekoma, and Lady Ella, the newly appointed Duchess of Nekoma, on their nuptials. Even the most illustrious noblemen and noblewomen, however, are humbled by the one thing that humbles even the most illustrious members of the ton...scandals! A man with charm is entertaining, and a man with looks is, of course, a sight to behold, but a man with honor—ah, he is the one to whom the young ladies should flock, dear reader. This is not so true for the suitor betrothed to Karasuno’s eldest princess, Lady (L/N). How unfortunate it is that her husband-to-be, a nobleman himself, is a rake, because my sources tell me that he was caught sullying another woman, an Alisa Haiba, at his bachelorette party while he was engaged to the Princess. You didn’t think it would go unnoticed by me, did you? I assure you that this is a gentle reminder to not mess with me, because I have also learned that….”
Even as people were absorbing what was being written on the gossip sheet, everyone’s eyes turned to you. Despite showering you with love in the past, your future husband has always appeared shallow, self-centered, closed-off, and without regard for consequences. In fact, you were present that night when you witnessed your future husband, the Prince of Nekoma, being sullied by the aforementioned opera singer. When he turned to face you, he widened his eyes, as if he had been completely misunderstood. Perhaps it wasn't the truth, but it was what was reported, and you believed it. However, you were not the only one who was aware. Lady Ella was with you when that happened. However, it occurred to you that you might want to speak with him privately and find out what really happened, because the word of men was favored over the word of women at the time. On the other hand, Lord Whistledown got wind of it, and the news spread like wildfire the next day. It especially hurt you that your family wouldn't let you marry him, let alone court him, so you closed your heart to any future romantic advances.
You felt someone shake your shoulders as Lydia and Kiyoko got you out of your train of thought. As you three walked into the Karasuno Hall, you were able to hear the housekeeper scold the lady’s maids from a distance, “If you don't put the kitchen utensils where they go, then you're not allowed to complain about it later.” You looked at Lydia and Kiyoko and remarked, with a deep sigh, “Sorry girls, it’s just... After what happened last year, I’m certain that I’ll never find love, at least among the royalty. In this world we live in, in this timeline we live in, everyone is selfish, ruthless, cutthroat, and inconsiderate. So, let’s see if I find a suitor this week.”
“Yer got to be kidding me! ‘Samu!!” Around the same time, a gruntled voice echoed down the corridors of the Inarizaki Hall, as a 6’2” tall, brown-eyed man with dark-brown hair, the top of which was dyed blonde, paced hurriedly to his twin brother’s room. “Osamu!” He entered the door to find his twin brother freaking out about the Beautillion Ball. Draped in black trousers, a white shirt, a silver waistcoat, and a black tailcoat with dark brown knee length boots, he stood in front of the mirror with a ragged breath. “ ‘Tsumu, I am scared. It’s happening here. The Ball is happening here. What if—”
The elder twin sighed and placed his hand on Osamu’s shoulder. “ ‘Samu, breathe deeply. Please,” the elder twin, Atsumu requested, to which Osamu tried calming down, and he replied, “It would have been better if I was in Hyogo, ‘Tsumu. The business there was booming and—” Atsumu nodded in agreement, speaking in Kansai. “Yer right, ‘Samu, but think of Lord Kita for once. He had to acquire the throne at a young age, and we’re doing this to uphold our end of the word we made with him.” Osamu nodded, then turned to Atsumu, “I still find it surprising that you’re not the one being presented at the hall today, but I am. You’re clearly marriage material, ‘Tsumu.”
Shaking his head in denial, Atsumu places his hands on Osamu’s shoulders, kissing his teeth and replying, “No, ‘Samu, ya are. I may be more handsome than you,” Atsumu then smirks, with Osamu rolling his eyes and both of them chuckling, “But, you are better than me, brother, in more ways than one. Besides, this gives me an opportunity to look out for you in a way.”
Osamu then sighed, replying, “Okay, fine, I’ll be okay at the ball, as long as you’re here. As much as I like Rin, I don’t want to hear gossip about the ton all day long.” Atsumu then nods, chuckling. Both of them were adopted by the late King of Inarizaki before Lord Shinsuke of House Kita had to take over the incumbent throne.
Atsumu, being unable to cope with the pain of losing the man that gave them a second chance at life, later gained a reputation for himself that made him less desirable in the eyes of the ton. Involving himself in promiscuous ways, gambling, and even playing cricket professionally, Atsumu never really cared too much for the throne.
Through Lord Whistledown, Atsumu was being viewed as incompetent by everyone else, and so he didn't want his reputation to ruin his brother's chances in the marriage market. Despite them arguing with each other on pretty much everything, Atsumu was certain about one thing. He loved his brother very much and wanted what was best for him.
The next morning of the beautillion ball, as you were riding a horse at dawn, with a quiet atmosphere around you. You couldn’t hear anything except for some ducks quacking, the leaves rustling, and the wind gushing, when a man whizzed past you, and you looked in his direction. Curious, you trot behind him, searching for those distant horse neighs. “Sir, are you in trouble?” You cried out as you searched for him, and as you rode along, that’s where you found him in the distance, riding ahead of you. He then turns to you, winks at you, and gallops away. You were all of a sudden taken back by how his face and his golden-dyed hair glistened in the sunlight, so you looked for him, only to find him in the distance, having exerted a bit too much energy.
“Enjoying your victory lap, is it?” You cry out, thus startling this man, causing him to utter something in Kansai. “You'll not be afforded such an ample head-start this time,” He snickered and responded, “Apologies, ma’am. It was not my intention to cause concern.” Humming, you inquire, “Does anyone know you are riding astride?” Chuckling, he responds, “Funnily enough, I was going to ask you the same thing. Besides, it’s rare that men’s reputations are questioned, unless—” You interject, “Unless you’re written by Lord Whistledown,” causing the both of you to chuckle. “Perhaps,” the fake blonde man continues, “What if we pretend this encounter never happened? Ya allow me to go my way, and ya go yers. Besides, I'm on my way back to Mayfair, where the Beautillion Ball is happening, and my presence is requested soon.”
You reply, “Ah, you worry about being seen,” and he responds, “I worry about meeting strange women in parks at dawn who refuse to leave me alone with their questions.” Keeping a finger on your lips, you continue, “Your secret is safe. I will not tell a soul.” He smiles and replies, “I am grateful to you. Additionally, losing races to strangers in such parks at dawn, I can only imagine the questions yer would be asked.” After a while, both of you spotted a group of guards on horseback. The man then turns the other way, screams, “Good day, ma’am,” and gallops back home, when you cry out, “Sir, I don’t think we’ve yet been introduced.” The man responds, “I am afraid that is not possible. Not when I have a victory lap to celebrate,” causing you to be particularly intrigued about this man as you cantered back home too.
It was finally time. The Day of the Inarizaki Beautillion Ball. An announcement was made as you entered the Ball, “Accompanied by the Prince of Karasuno, Lord Ittetsu of House Takeda, the Duchess of Karasuno, Lady Lydia of House Sawamura, and the Countess of Karasuno, Lady Kiyoko of House Tanaka, please welcome this season’s Diamond, the Princess of Karasuno, Lady (Y/N) (L/N)!” As you walked into the hall in your baby pink empire waistline dress from the modiste with a garnet studded headband and white gloves, you kept smiling as many men approached you and danced with you, King Keishin, King Shinsuke, and Prince Ojiro, observing every move.
As you were being kept on your toes and turned around by different noblemen, the music stopped and everyone came to a halt as another announcement was made. “Accompanied by His Highness, Prince Ojiro of House Aran, and Earl Rintaro Suna, please welcome The Miya Twins; the Duke of Inarizaki, Lord Atsumu Miya, and the Viscount of Inarizaki, Lord Osamu Miya.” Your gaze found Atsumu’s dark-brown irises as he saw you dancing with different noblemen. Tired, you excused yourself to get out of the hall to breathe in some fresh air.
Suddenly, you heard someone call your last name out. You turn to find a group of women approaching you. One of them remarks, “With you as the Diamond of the season, the rest of us shall receive a respite from the marriage-minded mamas this season, indeed,” causing all of you to chuckle. You then calm down, and smile, “Enjoy your freedom while it lasts. You, too, will soon submit to this ridiculous rigmarole of courtship, being squired by every eligible mister around town until you're barely able to see straight.”
To which another lady giggles, “Is one gentleman unlike any other? Let someone woo you into marriage, and be devoted to you for the rest of your life.” As you chuckle, you respond, “You may be cavalier, but if I must leg-shackle myself in marriage, the man in question should have more to recommend him.”
The other lady looks at you in confusion. “Do not tell us you are hoping for a love match?” To which you respond, “Love is the last thing I desire. If my children are to be provided for, if the family’s reputation is to be upheld and kept intact, then their father must be of impeccable quality. I don’t just need a pleasing face for a Prince Consort. I need an acceptable wit, genteel manners, and someone who’s affluent enough to be worthy of that position. Though it should not be hard to find, since the King will finally name a Blue Sapphire, saving me some trouble, at least of choosing him.”
As the other ladies chuckle and leave, you hear a rustling sound from the bushes, inquiring, “Is someone there? I can hear... you.” That is when you see the blond-haired man stand before you, bowing and apologizing, “Pardon me, Your Highness.” Approaching him, you respond, “I never got your name, until now at least, Duke Miya. I was wondering if we'd meet again.” Atsumu responded, scowling, “So you might discern if my wit is acceptable, my manners genteel?” With widened eyes, you inquire, “Were you eavesdropping, my lord? Also, do you take any issue with my requirements for a husband?”
Laughing, Atsumu retorts, “It was hardly an effort, seeing as you were proclaiming your many requirements for a husband loud enough for the entire party to hear. Also, yes, I take issue with any woman who views men merely as banks to withdraw funds at will.” Before you could utter anything, he approached you, “Princess (L/N), yes? What makes you think he'll accept your suit if you manage to find this paragon of virtue? Are young gentlemen truly that easily won by a pleasing smile and nothing else?” “So, you find my smile pleasing, is it?” you ask, smiling. Smirking, he continued, “I find your opinion of yourself entirely too high, Your Highness. Your character is as deficient as your horsemanship. I shall bid you good night.”
As Atsumu walked back into the hall, leaving you alone and dumbfounded in the garden, you were handed over a note that read, “Lord Whistledown’s Gossip Sheet.” As your breath became ragged, you rolled your eyes and responded, “Creating a menace again, are you now?” as you read the contents while everyone received the copy of the sheet:
Dearest gentle reader,
Did you miss me? While our esteemed ton lazed in their rustic retreats, this author was doing just one thing. Honing my skills, or perhaps hatching my plans? Nay, even better, I was sharpening my knives for all of ya. The identity and means of this author remain a mystery. Trying to find those answers will prove fruitless, indeed. There is, of course, another unknown identity at the moment. It will, however, be possible for you to uncover this one. I speak of the season's Blue Sapphire, wherever he may be. This author hopes ya have fun at the Beautillion Ball, where hopefully we’ll get to hear some wonderful news tonight. Your move, Your Majesty.
Always yours,
Lord Whistledown.
Atsumu then walks to Prince Ojiro, who’s conversing with Prince Ittetsu, demanding, “We need to leave. We will see you at home.” Being dumbfounded, Ojiro asks, “But whatever for? People are watching, brother, and something’s clearly upsetting you. We just–” Atsumu interrupted him, remarking, “It’s clear we are woefully unprepared to navigate this chaos. I am sure Osamu's absence will only make him that much more desirable.” Osamu then turned to Prince Ittetsu, calmly responding, “It truly was a magnificent soiree, Your Highness. We are most grateful.”
Ittetsu then responds, “Well, it would seem both of us may have our hands full this year.” Ojiro then smiles, continuing, “Not if I have something to say about it. And as you very well know, I always have something to say.” As both of them chuckle, silence lingers in the Inarizaki Hall as even the Miya twins halt for a moment. King Keishin found himself reading Whistledown’s words, and as he got irked, he stood up and announced while looking at everyone. “Your presence is noted, and your king is most appreciative. Allow it to now be my honor to present to you the season's Blue Sapphire.”
He then looked at the Miya twins, who were standing near the door, and announced, “Viscount Osamu Miya.”
The world stood still for both of them, as Osamu walked towards the king and bowed before him, with a number of ladies swarming before them. While you were lost in thought, your sister-in-law, Lydia, remarked, with her husband standing by her side, “You look at him the way I look at my hair in the mirror, Sister,” with Daichi then whispering to both of you, “Truly, I cannot say I will long for any of this. Good luck, sister. This season, you will undoubtedly require it.”
As you walked towards the King, you bowed before him, as he greeted you with a smile, “Princess (Y/N) (L/N), my Diamond. Have you met my new incomparable?” Turning to Osamu, you were taken aback by his beautiful blue eyes and his grey hair. You continue, “I appreciate the introduction, Your Majesty. I only hope to be able to enjoy the pleasure of a dance.” With this, Osamu puts his hand out before you, and you put your hand in his, and you two walk to the dance floor, as you two dance to the classical rendition of “R U Mine?”
“Forgive my directness,” you interject as the two incomparables of the season keep dancing, “Do you have any thoughts about children?” He nods, responding, “Other than the fact that I desire them so? However many I have, my lady, I shall feel most fortunate. Together with my wife, we will chart the best course.”
Being taken back by his response, you remark, “How very sensible. Do you have any successful business ventures?” Chuckling, Osamu responds, “Most certainly, Your Highness. It needs to be brought to your notice that I, like my brother, am half-Japanese. So, I would need to travel to Tokyo from time to time. I have a restaurant there, which is booming, and I’m looking to bring the business here. Should you want to invest in it?” You felt a fluttering sensation in your stomach as you were enjoying the camaraderie with Osamu, and after a couple of questions, you concluded, “You do not seem decomposed by my line of questioning.” Osamu responded with a smile, “Why would I ever be? A woman who knows exactly what she wants is truly admirable. If I may say so, it's as rare as a diamond.”
Osamu then broke the comfortable silence that lingered between the two of you, by responding, “I think we should go ahead and speak with my brothers. It is their blessing you shall need if we are… Oh! Here he is now. ‘Tsumu!” ‘Tsumu? You think to yourself, as your eyes land on Atsumu. “Ah, Princess (L/N)!” Prince Ojiro spoke, with Prince Ittetsu standing by. “I see you've met Viscount Osamu. This is—”
You completed the sentence with, “His brother. Viscount Osamu is an excellent dancer. Perhaps, I may learn a thing or two from him,” and bowing at Osamu, with your eyes at Atsumu. Somehow, you felt an inexplicable connection that drew you to Atsumu. At this very moment, Osamu felt like sitting beside a fireplace and drinking tea, while Atsumu felt like a whetstone, sharpening your mettle with every gaze.
Taking a long drawn sigh, he retorts, “It’s Duke Atsumu, my lady. Would you join me in the retiring room, brother?,” while Atsumu pulls Osamu away. Osamu inquired, “Is something wrong, ‘Tsumu?” As they were walking away from you, Atsumu retorted, “ ‘Samu, you are not to go near that woman. Do you understand?”
As your gaze never left Atsumu’s figure, Prince Ittetsu remarked, “He is a precious sapphire, dearest.” Mindlessly, you responded, “Indeed. He is who I shall marry.” You were clueless about the confusion that was about to ensue amongst the ton this season.

As both of you stepped into the most popular cafe in all of downtown, which was organizing a salsa dance night, you turned to your right and looked at Shōyō Hinata, who you’d been friends with since you first transferred to Karasuno. Your mind was then transported to the time he decided to leave Japan and go to Rio de Janeiro to work on beach volleyball so that he’d get better at it.
Whenever he felt like a fish out of water and lonely, you always assured him that this feeling of loneliness that he was going through wouldn’t be forever and that eventually, he’d have to learn to be okay with himself whenever possible. When he came back to Japan and started playing for MSBY Black Jackals, you were so excited to see him play and eventually bring home the victory for his team in his finals against the Schweiden Adlers.
You ran to him and hugged him, congratulating him on his success and his growth in volleyball, and after throwing a beaming smile your way, he held your hand, dragged you to meet his team captain, Shugo Meian, and introduced you to him, saying, “Meian-san, this is (Y/N) (L/N), my best friend. They’ve been there for me since school and I was wondering if the team had a manager position available.”
Your eyes widened as Meian chuckled and replied, while looking at you, “Sure, Hinata-kun, anything for our star. I’ll ask the coach and let them know.”
When you realized that you were still holding on to Shōyō’s hand, he turned to you, his brown irises gleaming with excitement, as you felt butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
“(Y/N),” he smiled, “I’m so excited. I can’t wait for us to work together.”
As you started your new job as the manager of the MSBY Black Jackals, you were clearly in awe of how everyone was playing, how everyone was working hard to be better.
Kōtarō Bokuto and Atsumu Miya were fun company to hang around with, and you were able to communicate with Kiyoomi Sakusa despite him being distant from everyone. The practices were so full of vigor and energy that it felt somehow different from the matches with Karasuno, and yet, still the same.
You were especially in awe of Shōyō, as you clearly started noticing how Shōyō grew taller and how he maintained a lean, muscular physique. Your breathing would hitch every time you’d see Shōyō and the perspiration sticking on his skin. It was then that you realized that all these years, you clearly had feelings for him, but would wait for the right moment to tell him.
“(Y/N), (Y/N), (Y/N)!” Shōyō called out to you as your train of thought was broken, and you chuckled, realizing that you had brought him to this cafe, out of your comfort zone, for a reason.
It was the 20th of June, the day before his birthday, and while he was in town, you wanted to make it special for him. You’d gotten in touch with his team, who thankfully still remembered you, especially your first-year peers, Tobio Kageyama, Tadashi Yamaguchi, Kei Tsukishima, and Hitoka Yachi.
Hitoka especially created the group chat for the birthday of the sunshine of the team, with Daichi, the former Karasuno team captain, taking the initiative to organize the party at the Tanaka household, with Kiyoko and Ryuunosuke being very excited to host everyone. Even Nishinoya, who was busy travelling, was ready to video call.
So, it was planned that you’d take him for a salsa dance night, especially because he had picked up a little bit of steps, having been acquainted with beats of the fast paced music in Brazil, while everyone would be preparing for the surprise birthday party.
In the meantime, you texted the MSBY team, Tooru Oikawa, now the setter for the Argentinian Volleyball Team, and even the popular Kenma Kozume, a popular youTuber and one of Shōyō’s friends, and his best friend, Tetsuro Kuroo, of the Japanese Volleyball Association.
As the both of you entered the cafe, your feet were graced by the wooden tiles, and your eyes were met with the sheen of the rice lights hanging from the ceiling. The cafe had a space large enough for couples to learn to dance, with the tables pushed to the walls, and you were captivated by the gallery of paintings displayed throughout the cafe.
A tall man clad in all-black welcomed the both of you, and the moment he instantly recognized Shōyō, he then paved the way for everyone to move so that the both of you could sit in one corner in peace.
Shōyō then asked you, “Are you excited? I know I am, because I get to dance with you!”
You felt your cheeks flush as you replied, putting one of your hands on his, “Yes, of course. However, just know that I’m a slow dancer. I can’t pick it up easily.”
He then dragged you to one of the less crowded spaces in the room, intertwined his fingers with yours, his gaze fixated on yours, and spoke softly enough for you to hear, “Don’t worry, I’ll teach you,” and then winked at you, causing you to fluster.
As Shōyō led you through his footwork and turned you, being swift on his feet and having been acquainted with the beats of the music in Brazil gave him an advantage as he picked up the moves quite quickly. However, you struggled to pick it up, and so he taught you. As you both learned the moves, your gazes were locked on each other, and you both laughed, being lost in each other. In the swaying to the music, at a certain moment, his gaze on you turned nostalgic, as he remembered the time he started having feelings for you.
Years ago, when Kiyoko brought Hitoka and you along to the team as new managers, Shōyō was especially eager to have new members on the team, but he was lost in your gaze, as the rays of the sun passed through the window and kissed your face, elevating your beauty.
During that day, he couldn’t stop looking at you. This caused him to lose focus on his games. As he started interacting with you more and took note of the way you genuinely laughed, it gave him a boost of confidence he didn’t realize he needed. So, he started channeling that into his practices, eventually becoming better. One day, he wanted to go to you and ask you to hang out with him alone.
However, that’s when he saw you in another man’s arms. He stopped in his tracks as he watched the both of you. His heart was breaking a little, and in addition to the fight he had with Tobio Kageyama during the Tokyo Practice Camp after losing to Aoba Johsai, this broke his heart all the more, and he felt very burdened and lost his focus entirely.
At one point, when Shōyō’s moves became sloppy and (Y/N) rushed to his aid, he curtly responded, “Please, leave me alone. I can take care of myself.” He then took the towel and the water bottle and left the hall, causing you to be confused, until Yachi whispered in your ears, “It’s probably because Hinata-kun had a fight with Kageyama-kun and that’s been hurting him. Also, he saw you with another man, and that caused him to be upset.” Hearing that caused you to be profoundly shocked, as you took time to process this.
The following week, as Shōyō walked to the club room to get ready for practice, he saw you being admonished by your boyfriend, and he announced that he was breaking up with you. While the whole world around you stood still, as you heard this news, this caused Shōyō to be irate at you being mistreated.
So, he paced urgently towards the both of you, and threw the volleyball at his face, smacking him and causing him to fall down. He then held one of your hands, and dragged you to the club room, causing you to stop breathing raggedly and start to sob incessantly.
You closed your eyes as fear and immense grief struck them all at once, causing Shōyō to ask them, “Is it okay if I hug you?”
You nodded, and closed your eyes while Shōyō enveloped them in a tight embrace as your tears soaked into his gakuran, but that didn’t matter, as long as you were able to feel better again.
As his teammates started entering the club room, he opened his eyes and mouthed out the following words: “Their boyfriend broke up with them. Can someone please help me calm them down?” to which Kiyoko and Hitoka came to your aid, and helped you calm down by helping you ground yourself with deep breaths. They gave you water to drink, and as you opened your eyes, you only saw Kiyoko, Hitoka, and Shōyō, while everyone else had gone for practice.
With your mouth agape, you ended up profusely apologizing., “I’m so sorry, all of you, for keeping you waiting.”
Everyone present shook their heads in denial, with Kiyoko replying, “It’s totally alright, you don’t have to worry. If you want to be left alone, we wouldn’t mind. We’ll look out for you.”
You shook your head and continued, “No, no. I’d like to distract my mind and come for the practices,” causing both Kiyoko and Hitoka to nod.
Hitoka then turned to Shōyō, replying, “Hinata-kun, would you mind walking with them?”
Shōyō then replied, “Of course not. I wouldn’t mind at all. I’d love to walk with them back to the court.”
The other girls then left the club room, leaving the two of you alone. You sheepishly looked into Shōyō’s eyes and replied, “Thank you so much, Hinata-kun,” to which he then held your hands in his, and replied, “Call me Shōyō, it’s okay.”
He then smiled at you and continued, “Look, (y/n), I know that this is not the right time to say anything to you. However, I want to assure you that sometimes, things happen for the best. We’re all here for you, and I’m especially here for you. Please don’t hesitate to call me, and I’ll find a way to distract you and help you get over this. I need you to be okay, (Y/N). I need you.” As he touched his forehead on yours, he continued, “(Y/N), I can say this one thing with certainty. I don't know how to fix a broken heart, but we could learn together,” causing the both of you to smile and hug each other. Over the years, when he helped you get through one of the lowest phases of your life, you were clearly in awe of his nature, and it caused you to live every moment to the fullest.
“Shōyō!” you called out to him as he broke out of his daze. As you chuckled, you told him, “Shōyō, Tanaka-san wants us to come over to his house. Shall we leave?”
His eyes widened as he stopped dancing and inquired, “Yes, but what about the food-”
You interrupted him as you dragged him out of the cafe and into the car as you drove him back home. As you started driving, you felt something in you that you needed to get off your chest.
“Shōyō, there’s something I need to tell you before we reach Tanaka-san’s place.”
Furrowing his eyebrows at you, he asked you, “Tell me, (Y/N). What’s up?”
Taking a deep breath, you continued, while looking at Shōyō from one corner of the eye, “I want to thank you.”
As he said, “For what?”
“I want to thank you for helping me get over my ex and be confident in myself and in the world. Thank you for keeping in touch with me and never giving up on me. Thank you for taking me with you to be your manager wherever you are. All those years ago, when you said you needed me – the feeling’s mutual.”
“Shōyō, I,” you took a deep breath again as you noticed his gaze fixated on yours, “I love you, more than a friend. You make me believe in beauty. You said I held your heart together, made you better. You made me fall, every day, and I’d do it all the same. You’re the sun in my life that I’d like to treasure forever. I’d like to be yours, if that’s okay.”
As you pumped the brakes and stopped in front of the Tanaka residence, you turned to Shōyō, who seemed really dumbfounded by your confession. He then cupped your cheeks with his calloused hands, brought your face forward to his, and gave you a peck on your lips, but as you opened your mouth, you gave him permission to lock his lips with yours, and as your fingers raked through his orange hair, both of you felt the burden of pining for each other for years be lifted off your shoulders.
As you released yourself from the kiss, he finally spoke, “You have no idea how difficult it was for me to keep my feelings from you.” As you two smiled at each other, he then said, “Come on. Let’s go to Tanaka-san right now.”
Both of you got out of the car, and as you knocked on the door, you realized the door was unlocked, so both of you entered the house, only to find the living room empty but a pleasant aroma coming from the kitchen.
“Do I smell tamako kake gohan?”
His eyes widened and he grinned at his favorite dish being made while a large group of people jumped from the back of the couches and yelled “Surprise! Happy birthday, Shōyō!”
His mouth gaped wide open as he noticed everyone that’s been a part of his life, from his closest friends in middle school, to the Karasuno Volleyball Team, to the Tokyo friends: Kenma, Kuroo, Lev, Inuoka, Bokuto, and Akaashi, to Atsumu and Sakusa from the MSBY team, to even Tooru Oikawa and Yuu Nishinoya wishing him via a video call.
As his eyes were welling up with happy tears, he turned to you, and asked you, “Did you plan all this?”
You nodded in return, and he hugged you. After releasing himself from the hug, he kissed you on the lips, earning a lot of “oohs,” “aahs,” and “finally” from everyone.
Shōyō was so grateful that he had a lot of people who loved him, and he was especially grateful to you.

I can see you standing, honey
With his arms around your body
Laughin', but the joke's not funny at all
And it took you five whole minutes
To pack us up and leave me with it
Holdin' all this love out here in the hall
The annual Japanese V.League Celebration Gala attracted a sizable crowd. While speaking with one of the potential sponsors for the upcoming All-Stars Match, (Y/N) had her man's arm around her waist. She looked at him, clad in a blue three-piece suit, white shirt, brown shoes, and a red tie, and was chatting with eloquence and ease. She ran her fingers through Tetsuro's jet-black hair and fiddled with it for a while. He smiled back as her (f/c) off-shoulder gown and the sparkling jewelry adorned her (h/c) hair that she left open, accentuating her beauty.
In a world where everything is fleeting and attachments are short-lived, she felt grateful to be with him. Although a peculiar emotion overtook her as she saw a familiar bespectacled light blonde-haired man wearing a black suit, blue shirt, and black shoes gaze at her scornfully, as he looked at both of them as they were laughing, from the corner of her eye. She had excused herself to go to the restroom, and on her way there, someone grabbed her wrist and brought her to a halt. She opens her eyes to realize it's her ex, Kei Tsukishima, the Sendai Frogs’ Middle Blocker.
I can see you starin', honey
Like he's just your understudy
Like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me
Second, third and hundredth chances
Balancin' on breaking branches
Those eyes add insult to injury
“Kei,” she exclaimed, her mouth gaping open. Then she flicked her hand away from him. “I shouldn't be surprised you're here, because I noticed you staring while Tetsuro was with me.”
Kei replied, “I need to speak with you,” clicking his tongue in annoyance. “What is there to talk about, Kei? I'm with someone else now. You’ve had your chance,” (Y/N) retorted, frowning at him, she continues as she dashed towards the restroom.
“I really need to talk to you,” Kei implored. She then folded her arms, her (e/c) orbs staring right at his golden-colored eyes. "Go on then," she said honestly. “Talk, but keep it short and sweet. Isn't that how you usually like it?”
Taking a deep breath, he softly looked at her, his eyes conveying a genuine sense of regret, and confessed: “I am not only here to attend the gala, but I also wanted to apologize to you.” “For what?” She replied, narrowing her eyes. Kei began to stutter, “I…I need…”
“What is it this time, Kei?” she chided, approaching him. “What exactly do you need? Because the last time I checked, you told me to leave and to never return from our home, Kei,” she added, her voice a little louder.
This caused Kei to flinch back, tears welling up in his eyes. “I need you back, (Y/N),” he sobbed. “I made a grave mistake,” he sobbed as he grabbed her hands, holding them tight. “I'm still in love with you, (Y/N). I should not have misinterpreted-”
“Misinterpreted what, Kei?” (Y/N) asked, pulling her hands away from his. “How dare you assume I cheated on you just because of my interaction with Tetsuro! Ever since the first time we met, you always had something to say to me. When I dropped my gym bag, you told me to watch where I was going, even though you were clearly in the way. You mocked my love of volleyball while you had to deal with your issues about-”
“Stop, just stop!” Kei closed his eyes and cried. “I'm not finished until I've gotten this baggage off my chest.” She stopped talking and let him continue.
“You were there for me when I was still apprehensive about my perception of volleyball,” he continued. “You congratulated me after I succeeded in reconciling with my brother. You were worried for me when I injured my finger during our match with Shiratorizawa, at the Nationals, and when my confidence seemed to crumble apart.” He smiled at you weakly. “You taught me that it was okay to be vulnerable in front of someone and have them accept you, no matter what. You said you needed me - the feeling’s mutual. You make me believe in the beautiful. You said I held your heart together, made you better. (Y/N), you made me fall, every day, and I’d do it all the same.” Kei shook his head. “But it all came to an end one day. You called it off. I thought I was okay with it at first, but I'm not. I need you-”
I think I've seen this film before, And I didn't like the ending
I'm not your problem anymore, So who am I offending now?
You were my crown, now I'm in exile, seein' you out
I think I've seen this film before, So I'm leavin' out the side door
“Oya oya oya?” Both of them suddenly turned around to see Tetsuro walking up to them in the corridor, chuckling. “Well, this is not what I expected to happen. My ex-best friend and my girlfriend, confronting each other.”
(Y/N) put her hand forward. “Babe, I can handle this.” She looked at Kei and said, “Please don't look past what went wrong with our relationship. Regardless of how it started, what we had, hurt. I could never get you to open up your feelings for anything, but you had no problem passing remarks whenever I did something slightly wrong. We bickered constantly, which at first seemed adorable because I always believed that we'd become stronger... but no, it got worse.”
“I gave you so many chances when you apologized,” she continued, then pointed at Tetsuro. “You even accused him of flirting with me when the truth is we were poking fun at you. That night, when you saw me inside the cafe with Tetsuro, I was venting out to him about you; he never made a move on me. When I came back home, you and I had a huge argument and it all came back to our past. I thus learned that you'd never change.”
“It's over, Kei. I wish you all the best,” she said, giving him a lukewarm smile, before turning on her heels and going back to where the gala is, leaving the two men alone. A few moments later, Kei heard Tetsuro speak, “Tsukki, if you only told her the truth...” He then walked in the opposite direction, leaving him to clench his fists in despair.
