Lol, I'm rewatching season one and I found an even funnier angle to what I have affectionately dubbed "Plushie-gate". So, we all agree Mr Rabbit was Jonathan, because of "I like Thumper". Yes?
But that's not the first stuffed animal Nancy gives away! Earlier, in the Upside Down, she looks at another stuffed animal, Pluto, and is confused to see it, because "I gave you away to Cousin Joanna years ago". This is the same stuffed animal that is prominently displayed behind Jonathan's head, the first time he stayed over. Of all the toys to pick!
What's even funnier is that Steve did a whole cute bit with a teddy bear in season one, and that isn't either of the bears Nancy gave away. Why not? If the bear is supposed to represent Steve, why not use the one he actually interacted with to flirt with Nancy? Even if they lost the original, it's not like the production couldn't recreate it.
I'm laughing but I low key want to find out she kept the Steve bear all this time. That would be hilarious 😂

it's the same one! and I do strongly believe that mr rabbit is jon, because they specifically added the thumper line, and rabbit was a very specific thing in their dialogue exchange ("my dad made me kill a rabbit" "a rabbit?")
I don't know if they have time to bring back all these details, like the bear, but considering the tom cruise poster highlight 👀 I do have faith in the ones creating the sets.
you're right in the sense, why didn't they just bring the steve bear back in that S4 scene?? the teddy bear was also a very specific sequence. I think they were trying to mislead people into thinking mr rabbit is steve because steve was in the frame behind her as she said that, and it worked bc literally everyone thought it was about steve, but the love triangle is STILL going strong, if it was about steve, then that would've been the end of nancy's feelings.
