It's late at night and I'm reading Silm Fix-it fics, so here's one ✨Pearl✨ of thought that just occurred to me:
The Silmarillion would come to mean something like, Son of the Silmarils, right?
And who was the one alive after all that tragedy, with conections to all the Silmarils, who wouldn't have been born if it wasn't for their existence and the wars fought for them?
Elrond (and Elros). He's the Silmarils' son - without the kinslaying of Doriath and Gondolin's destruction his parents wouldn't have met, without one Silmaril his grandparents wouldn't have married, without Morgoth's theft and the Noldor's arrival to Middle Earth Earendil himself wouldn't have been born.
All his three parents took one Silmaril for themselves to put it in their final places too, which makes it neat in my opinion and reinforces my belief that it all was so he and Elros were born, as their lines were instrumental to finally help vanish the last evil foe, making it so all that tragedy could really be part of the Song.
But this is just a ramble made from someone who knows very little of it so perhaps I'm just grasping. Or I'm not the first one who thought this and was evident for everybody else but me 😂
