Laundry Day Monday; reorganizing Pinterest folders yesterday; work day today. 30,000++ Spider-Man images got me sidetracked.
(I can't remember if I have already sent this ask or not so sry if I asked this twice)
What powers other than the "typical spider" ones do you have?
(This is the first time I've seen this question so you're all good!)
Good question! I actually have a slightly different power set than other spider-people. At least I'm different than the other spider-people in my world.
Instead of just shooting out a large thick string of web, my web strings are a lot smaller. Individually, they can't do much. However I have mastered making full webs out of it in very little time- and midair- that have many uses. They act as super strong and resilient traps or walls that I can place almost anywhere. I can use them to catch things or just trap baddies.
Since I can't move by string, I move around more like a jumping spider. I can walk/ run around on any surface (like other spider-people can) so I use the sides of buildings often. Again, don't wanna know how much I owe in broken glass damages.
I also can do something that some see as a little gross... I can grow and .. um I'm just going to use the term ungrow, two more pairs of arms from my sides. If you've ever seen Harbin hotel, its like Angel Dust's arms kinda. Full capability of my original arms and web abilities.
Libellule (dragonfly): What's your favorite super power?
Uhhh. I assume you mean my favorite power out of my “set.” Well, let’s run through the list.
Super strength means that I have to be extra careful every second of every day. I sometimes stop paying attention for half a second and realize that something I was holding broke in my hand.
Super speed is great for being Spidey, but not so much in civilian life. Like the majority of my powers it doesn’t turn off at all, so I have to consciously hold myself back--otherwise I have a walking speed faster than most people can sprint, and my limbs turn into blurs when I’m just minding my own business.
Super reflexes? No. That comes with an equally superhuman processing speed. I’ve already mentioned this, but I can’t watch movies anymore because the individual frames don’t meld into animation. I can see the constant flicker of florescent lights. Holograms look like they’re constantly on the fritz. And everybody in the world moves so fucking slow, oh my god
Adhesion? This is the only power I can turn off, but even it doesn’t default to off. Sometimes I forget that. So if you ever come to my apartment and notice handprints missing from the paint or something, it’s because I touched something and forgot to untouch it.
Tremorsense? Hell no. A hypersensitivity to the vibrations in everything you touch, including the air, is every bit as uncomfortable as it sounds. Yeah, I’m used to it, and yeah it’s basically just another sense at this point. But it’s still very hard to ignore being able to feel every single footstep within a few hundred feet of you, and the heartbeat of everybody in the room, and the buzzing of wires as electricity goes through them, and the movement of water in the plumbing, and the pulse of air pressure that comes when something moves, and basically every moving car within a mile of you, and the subway system underground, and, and, and you get the idea. It’s like trying to listen to someone talking in the middle of a billion other people talking. At a rock concert.
Spider-sense? Not even kinda. It’s grown stronger over the years I’ve used it and it’s been affected by my post-traumatic stress; hypervigilance has made it unbearable. I’m constantly, unrelentingly aware of every single threat or hazard around me. No matter how minor, no matter how improbable. Imagine something in the back of your head insisting that the razor you use to shave is a potential danger. As is the stove, especially when you turn it on. As is your pencil when you sharpen it. As is the corner of your bookshelf, as is every car that you come anywhere close to outside, as is practically everyone. I can feel it tingling in my skull, constantly; what if he tries to attack you? Or her? Or him? He’s got a knife in his pocket. Her keychain has a can of pepperspray. Watch out for the curb, or you’ll trip and break your neck. Remember how Electro can make those streetlights explode?
On good days I can ignore enough of this to get through my day, but on bad days I feel like I’m losing my mind I’m so scared. It’s not all bad: I can instantly tell when someone is carrying a weapon or has powers because spider-sense highlights the greater threat, I’m aware of any traps I come across, and in a fight I simply cannot be blindsided. It still does its original job of telling me when I need to move, after all. But, like all of my powers, it makes stepping away from being Spider-Man and acting like a civilian an exercise in patience, and bravery. So, I suppose my favorite “power” would be the one I didn’t get from a spider bite, but the one I was born with: my brain.
My brain, which never stops asking questions, taking in information, and trying to find answers.
My brain, which figured out how to make a polymer stronger than steel out of chemicals a teenager could get his hands on.
My brain, which I put to work unraveling this conspiracy or that organized crime syndicate.
My brain, which takes the threat awareness that spider-sense has to offer and can put together a plan to stop supervillains immensely stronger than I am.
My brain, which has survived--more or less--every trauma it’s been saddled with, and somehow has the strength to keep going; knowing full well there’s gonna be more.
To hell with the strength, the speed, the daring acrobatics. Especially to hell with the bizarre and inhuman perceptions of the world. I’d give them all up in a heartbeat before giving up my smarts and my willpower. As the recent explosion in Spider-heroes throughout the multiverse has illustrated, anyone can be Spider-Man. But it’s Peter Parker’s brain that makes “my” brand of Spider-Man work.
my spidersona’s just me with heelies
Spiders can see different colors
Peter: Wow this is a very colorful plant! I've never seen one like it!
Tony: Its green.
Peter: No its like this totally different color I haven't seen before! I'm gonna call it Brellow!
Bruce: Peter the plant is green.
Peter: Can you guys not see the brellow? Maybe its the spidery-ness.
Tony: Definitely the spidery-ness if your seeing some random ass color called brellow, like what the hell and shit?
Bruce: Hey Peter, you wanna come to my lab?
Imagine being the spider-themed superhero of the DC universe.
“Who are you?”
“I’m Spider.”
“That’s a terrible name.”
“Hey, if there’s a dude calling himself ‘Kite-man’, I think I can call myself Spider.”

Veranke
Powers: Shape shifting abilities like other Skrulls. Received all of Jessica Drew’s powers after a Skrull infiltration ritual including superhuman strength, reflexes, agility, senses, wall crawling, bio-electric blasts, flight and pheromone secretion.
A Skrull princess, Veranke was exiled after challenging the then-ruler Dorrek VII’s claim to the throne. After the Skrulls home-world was destroyed by Galactus she became the Skrull Empress and orchestrated the Secret Invasion.
She herself posed as Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) after capturing her at a Hydra base which was filled with Skrull sleeper agents. After posing as Spider-Woman for a while and having replaced many other superheroes with Skrull versions Veranke uploaded a virus to destroy the Helicarrier and all StarkTech, destroyed S.W.O.R.D. headquarters and laid mistrust in the superhero community.
In the Savage Land, Veranke made one last chance to crush Stark's spirit, by insinuating that he's a Skrull sleeper agent. She kisses him and tells him that he has earned her love. Black Widow attempted to kill her, only to be distracted by Skrull agents disguised as Beast and Phoenix, which Veranke slips away. After Redd Richards developed a device that could expose a Skrull’s true form Thor gathered the heroes in Central Park to fight against the invaders. Here, Veranke was shot dead by the Thunderbolts Director Norman Osborn.
I was looking at spider facts and I found this and... could you imagine peter’s legs ballooning up and just fucking launching him into the air. “Look dad no hands!” he says to Tony as he’s catapulted into the sky by his unusually thicc legs
