Thinking about 14x20 Moriah from Cas' pov because I want to ruin my morning.
You are Castiel, Angel of Thursday. Your son has lost his soul. You pray to your father, God, to help you save your son. You prayed to him before, once. He didn't help you and it ended in a colossal disaster. But he does come, this time. And you have hope that he'll save your son. That this time, he'll listen to you like you wanted him to listen to you.
You find out that your son without his soul is dangerous. GOD himself tells you that a sneeze from him could eradicate a whole country. That killing him is the only way to stop him. That he can't help you get your son's soul back. You look at your best friends, your son's other fathers for any solution. They look- defeated. The love of your life looks at you and says that your choices are either them or your son. You leave.
Your son killed the mother of your best friends. It's your fault, you thought you could save him. Save her. The love of your life has deemed you dead to him.
You find your son. You think, finally, something good happened. You can still run away with him and never look back and fix him, fix his soul-
You are thrown back on a grave. The only thing you see is your son's other father, the only man you ever loved, pointing a gun on his head. You know this gun will kill both of them.
The gun is dropped. You have a sliver of hope again. Your father is here and he is.. annoyed?
You find your whole life was a lie. That you were just characters in a story. In His story. And your son is a threat to it.
So, your father kills your son. You give every last particle of your own falling grace to heal him.
Nothing happens. Burnt out eyes of your son stare you back.
Your father is not your father. Not really. Your father is a writer.
And writers lie.
