“Starting Anew” Chapter 9: “Reconciliation”

”Anyone seen Lieutenant Kennedy?” Parker Luciani called, holding up a file as Chris turned to look at him, standing at the copier, “He wrote up the report and then walked away without making a copy to file to the Archives.”

”Oh, yeah, he’s been pretty busy. Readjusting and adjusting. And then Ollie’s First Birthday is coming up and Leon wants to do something special for it.” Chris listed off aloud, looking down at the paperwork he was copying as well.

“Oh. Alright.” Parker said, waiting for Chris to get done, “So…you and Leon are on good terms, then? Last I heard, you two had filed for divorce a couple months ago…”

Chris gave a clear of his throat, “Yeah. We’re good. He’s still living with us at the house. He and I went out to breakfast this morning after dropping Ollie off at Claire’s apartment. He still hasn’t signed his part of the Divorce Papers.”

Parker tilted his head at that in curiosity, “Really? So, are you two getting back together then?”

“No. Not right now.” Chris replied honestly, “We’re still just friends.”

“Oh, well…then I wish you two luck, I guess.” Parker nudged Chris reassuringly, “I’m sure things will work out. I know it wasn’t the best of circumstances before but…”

Chris merely nodded in reply, thanking Parker for his kindness and assurances. Parker gave a nod of his own as he turned to leave, accidentally leaving Leon’s file behind on the copier.

Chris glanced at it, hearing familiar footfalls behind him, “Parker found your stuff.”

I was watching this jdrama the other day, called Jack o’ Frost (pretty niche but you can find it on Viki)

‼️Given - Jack o’ Frost spoilers ahead ‼️

The plots are different ofc, but at some point of the drama it started giving me Given vibes and I didn’t quite get why…

But then this scene came:

It was painfully familiar…

Then I remembered this scene from the Given ova:

• Again, different reasons, different outcomes, but still, MISUNDERSTANDINGS & MISCOMMUNICATION. Uenoyama and Fumiya not talking openly about what upsets them, Mafuyu and Ritsu not picking up on subtle hints/not understanding unless explicitly told…

Didn’t think I’d cry so hard ever again after Given but here we are Ig-

• Also, MEMORIES is another theme they have in common. Mafuyu never really letting go of/forgetting about Yuki and Uenoyama having to deal with Mafuyu’s past; Ritsu losing all his memories about Fumiya and Fumiya, who cherishes those memories so much, watching Ritsu not recognizing him and still staying by his side, hoping he would remember one day.

• Lastly, the SECOND CHANCE/STARTING ANEW, whether it is Mafuyu finding love again in Uenoyama after Yuki or Ritsu and Fumiya “resetting” their relationship, trying to avoid their past mistakes and falling in love all over again.

I didn’t have high expectations on this drama at first tbh, it seemed to have just a bunch of tropes and I wanted sth just to pass the time, but by the time it ended I realized it already got a special place in my heart T-T

Bonus coz they’re too precious:

Here they used “itterasshai” and “ittekimasu” which are used when you leave home or with ppl you consider family and that’s why Fumiya is giggling so much I can’t 🥹🥹
