I’ve been contemplating getting into pendulum reading for a while now (and I already have a basically pendulum shaped amethyst necklace I can’t wear anymore because allergic to the metal) but since I’ve started doing the bibliomancy add-ons to the free readings it’s been so perfectly synchronistic that I don’t feel like I can abandon it yet.
And then it dawned on me: I can absolutely combine the two!
Anyone have any experience with that? Using a pendulum divining rod style over an open book for bibliomantic readings?
I think I might try a few this weekend and if it feels good maybe I’ll do some free ones for for practice

Tarot and stitchomancy readings are currently open and donation only! Check out my Divination Page and follow the instructions there!
So, you know how you write a thing and it goes into a book, but you would nonetheless really like other people to actually see the damned thing? As a TOTAL TUMBLR EXCLUSIVE, here’s my latest thing - a bit of a polemic against the status quo. With contributions from fellow fan-friends, to whom I’m very grateful.

You did not see me post this here. And the book is relatively affordable, actually, given academic book prices.
We’ve collected all the Love Letters from Death that we did way back when into a convenient ebook!
And it’s free.
Tap into a little wisdom from Mort, discover new tarot decks, or roll the dice (or a random number generator) and sink into some death-inspired stitchomancy.

For the soul does not willingly accede to that which is entirely non-being, but running back from thence in a contrary direction, it arrives not at another thing but at itself. And as in the Divine conjunction, whilst it lasts, there are not two things as of subject and object in the consciousness, but the life understanding and the light understood are one; whoever thus becomes One by mingling with the Efficient, will have a remnant of it with himself; according to the eloquent tradition of Plotinus, where, discussing this union, he treats it as no mere spectacle or theoretical figment, but as a true experimental ingress of the understanding essence to its source. And the light and energy which are there, he says, are of the First Light shining primarily in itself, which at one and the same time illuminates and is illuminated.
Mary Anne Atwood, A Suggestive Inquiry into the Hermetic Mystery, 1850
After I got accepted to speak at the London conference, part of my brain just packed and went off to start researching. Going through gigabytes of alchemical print material that I have accumulated, I came across a PDF I had not yet read (there’s plenty), written by a woman in 1850. In England. At the age of 33, before she got married.
Her alchemist father paid for the publication, didn’t read her manuscript until after it was published, decided it revealed too many Hermetic secrets, and bought up all the copies and had them burned. And thus her book became semi-lost, with only a few copies surviving. Her book was reissued in 1918, about eight years after her death.
And then three days after recovering the PDF from my info stash, at the Mortlake Book Fair and Texts & Traditions Colloquium, I found a hardback copy of Mary Anne Atwood’s book. A mid-20th century reprint of her lost work which I could actually afford. Mrs. Atwood’s book is considered by some modern alchemists to be the thing that set alchemy onto a spiritual path from its previous centuries as a laboratory practice.
Like saffron, and my fiber degree, this women in alchemy thing is about pulling threads. I did a bit of stichomancy over the equinox weekend, and was given the above quoted passage.
stitchomancy replied to your post “sis: that looks like a romance novel me: ikr. but i think it's chill....”
