A gargoyle is “a carved waterspout, typically found on buildings, designed to direct rainwater away from the walls and prevent damage”, and is thought to ward off evil spirits, bring protection, frighten humans, and/or represent the fate of sinners.
▲ Powers ~
△ Physical enhancements
△ Stone mimicry (turn one's own body to stone, giving extra durability and strength)
△ Petrification (turn others to stone)
△ Retractable fangs, claws, wings, any other attributes wanted like pointed ears, tail, horns, etc.
△ Night vision
△ Wallcrawling
△ Healing factor
△ Camouflage
△ Immortality
△ Water manipulation
△ Water breath (shoot water from one's mouth)
△ Fear inducement (give fear to others)
△ Fear augmentation (be strengthened by the fear in others or in oneself)
▲ Power Obtainment Ideas ~
△ You were standing beneath a gargoyle during a storm when lightning struck, traveled through the gargoyle, and then into you. This awakened the power trapped inside the stone and transferred it to you.
△ You were cursed to become a gargoyle or a gargoyle (you) was blessed to come alive.
△ You come from a world of stone where other gargoyle-like creatures live, and were accidentally brought to your DR by a portal or you journeyed to your DR from your world yourself.
△ You died and a scientist or doctor (maybe a relative of yours) crushed a gargoyle, mixed the enchanted stone dust with water, and inserted the mixture straight into your bloodstream, which brought you back to life and gave you your powers.
△ During the 13th full moon, the blue moon, which only occurs once every two and a half years or so, a gargoyle magically came to life right before your eyes. In order to survive, you managed to kill it and earned its powers.
I love powers that sound silly in concept, but when put into practice, they are the most broken (or at least powerful) powers in the story.
• A guy that can turn water into soda and vice-versa doesn't really sound all that threatening until you realize that he replace all the water in your body with soda, more than likely killing you.
• Someone having the ability duplicate themselves every time someone uses 'they/them' on them sounds ridiculous... unless they're nonbinary, in which case they'll be able to jump the shit out of anyone all because someone respected their pronouns.
• A girl being able to create any type of fruit from thin air sounds like the absolute goof troop of powers until you realize that she can make any type of fruit to her liking, meaning that she can legit make fruit bombs, fruits that can give people powers, fruits that aren't typically poisonous contain cyanide, fruits that can cure most ailments, etc.
• Some chick that has dreads isn't that odd of an occurrence until you see that she can use them as tentacles and give anyone bothering her the Loki treatment.
• Controlling spoons legit sounds like the bottom of the barrel powers of all time, until someone makes a motherfucking sword from mixing a bunch of spoons together.
And that's if you're thinking about using them in a battle! They have a ton of utility in mundane, potentially live-saving situations if you put your mind to it.
• Sodude can get money by making a stand on the beach and selling either soda or water based on the customer's preference.
• Dupliperson can do multiple chores at the same time with their clones, meaning that they won't tire themselves out from working too much.
• Fruit Basket uses her powers to make abundant amount of (purifying) fruits and sells them at the city market and gives the remaining fruit to charity.
• Loc-tacles can use her dreads to reach for anything, ranging from something simple as paper towels to being able to carry multiple people to safety.
• Spoonful can give anyone who doesn't have a spoon to eat cereal with a spoon. (Yeah I really couldn't come up with any creative for this nigga 💔)
These are the ones that I currently have on my mind at the moment. There is a ton of silly powers I believe can be overpowered if you put your mind to it. I love powers that are unconventional to the obsession of 'this guy can instakill anyone in the direction he breathes' type of powers, because they have a certain type of creative that no instakill power has. All I'm saying is, Marvel hire me brochatos.👌🏿
Here are some of my ideas when it comes to different ice powers. Of course, as you can see, I’m not very good at creating names for said powers, but hey! What can you do? Feel free to let this inspire you or use for an OC.
༘⋆ Frost — the ability to create frost and, therefore, make the temperature drop and slowly freeze anything that the character touches.
༘⋆ Ice Craft — able to create things out of ice. Weapons, imitations of other inanimate objects. Said objects melt at an increased rate once detached from the user.
༘⋆ Temp — being able to raise or drop the temperatures to extreme levels. Make it so cold that the characters opponent freezes up and stumbles. Heat it so that the opponent bends at the waist to gasp for air as sweat trickles down their spine and makes them think irrationally.
༘⋆ Block of Ice — freezing your body into a literally block of ice. Either parts of the body or entirely. Being frozen over completely renders the character immobile, but a way to combat this is to leave the joints of the character unfrozen.
༘⋆ Domain — a large dome of ice rises from the ground, as big or as small as the character wants it to be, trapping them and their opponent or just their opponent.
༘⋆ Crystallised — anything the character touches turns to crystallised ice. People, objects, animals. If not careful and kept under control the character could crystallise the surrounding area under intense emotions and stress.
༘⋆ Ice Shards — create and manipulate shards of ice with a telekinetic force.
༘⋆ Shatter — turn anything to ice and shatter it out of existence.
༘⋆ Cold Vine — thorny vines made of ice sprout out from the ground or from the user. It can bind, invade the flesh with pencil tip thin appendages.
༘⋆ Cold Delirium — a power that only affects the human brain, using an almost lethally cold temperature to slow down their brain activity and therefore their movements and logical thinking.
༘⋆ Ice Manipulation — create and manipulate ice or turn water to ice and manipulate that.
༘⋆ Frozen Guardian — create a large creature made out of ice, snow, or crystal, with its sole intention to protect the user and fight for them at their demand.
Big thanks to @marvelshifter111 for the inspiration! Highly recommend checking her stuff out!

Continuing with my last post, here's a few more categories of quirks I came up with including technology, light, darkness, and time.
Technology:
datastream | user constantly absorbs data and information. user can turn said data into enhancement.
mind database | user can search through a collection of minds in a 1,000 mile radius.
static | user’s body is made of TV static that they can bend to their will. can disguise their body as someone else’s.
pulse | user can emit various different types of pulses. this includes pulses of radio waves, light, energy, etc.
viewpoint | user can place viewpoints anywhere they’ve been and mentally flick through them like security cameras.
error | user can digitize their consciousness and enter computers and interfere with software.
USB | user can pull USB sticks out of their arm that allow them to implant their consciousness into a device.
Light:
prism | user can absorb and manipulate light.
display | user can display a 3d hologram of anything they wish.
Energy/Electricity:
acceleration | user can create an energy that they can use to accelerate their speed, senses, reactions, etc. they can use it to affect things outside of their body, but they cannot control what they accelerate.
energy | user gathers energy constantly. they can use the energy they gather to enhance their body or create simple things like shields or blades.
radiation | user can generate and manipulate radiation.
energy exchange | user can exchange their exhaustion for energy and vice versa through proximity.
Darkness:
shadow crow | user can transform their shadow into crows. user can trade senses with any one of their crows. crows can combine. crows have a collective consciousness.
Time:
timefreeze | user can slow down the time of anyone they touch. the more fingers, the slower their time.
retry | user can return the state of a person to that of three days ago.
repair | user can return the state of an object or space to that of three days ago.
return | user can return objects to their hand that have left their hands within a timespan of three days.
Superpower/Elemental Ideas Based on Colours (Red - 1/???)
This is a little brainstorm of superpower ideas based on colours. If you have an OC with a coloured theme and want a power to link to that, this is a good place to start!
~~~
1. Fire
A classic element. Usually transcribed as creating inextinguishable fire/manipulating existing fire, but doing some more research can unlock more possibilities for this power. This can easily be used offensively, but can be used as an intimidation tactic for less violent heroes, or even possibly used for healing (through cauterisation). Fire can also be used as a visual motif to portray the effects of more abstract powers.
2. Luck/Fate
Red is considered a lucky colour in several cultures, so manipulating luck (for example) is an abstract yet expansive power. It can be used to imitate other powers (e.g. Superhuman agility, clairvoyance) and a good power for both action-oriented and non-action-oriented stories/protags/characters. You could also springboard off the imagery of "red strings of fate" for a visual motif for this power.
3. Love/Passion
Although simple, how this theme transcribes to a power is completely up to you. Maybe a character's strength grows exponentially due to the amount of loving relationships they have? Maybe a character can ignite love and devotion in others to make them their servants? Maybe a character can shoot arrows that make people fall in love, like cupid? There are several different types of love you can explore aswell (platonic love, familial love, romantic love, self-love).
4. Blood
Quite a villain-coded power, but flipping the script and giving this theme to a hero could be interesting. You could go on the creative side, and have a person's blood solidify into shields or weapons, or lean more scientific and change the composition of someone's blood. Seeing as most living creatures contain blood, you can use it as a connecting/binding tool for another power.
5. Lasers
For more sci-fi settings. In addition to manipulating lasers, a lot of modern technology uses lasers, so a character could bend that technology to their will.
This is by no means a complete list, nor is it detailed, so you can drop down your ideas/converse with me in the comments below if you have more power ideas you want to share with the Tumblr community!
I'm making here collection of superhero stuff, mostly superhero media outside of giants like DC and Marvel and superpower exploration, worldbuilding and jokes.
Feel free to tag me or send admissions.
Also if you have superpowered OCs (not necessary superheroes) you can send me that too
tags are inconsistent, but I try to sort things a bit
my posts - #superdump post
I reblog other people's art, sometimes under #superpowered oc tag, you can correct me if that's not an OC or I misinterpreted something
superpower ideas - #superpower ideas - as said in title
superpowers and superheroes communities here or anywhere else - #community builders
writing ideas, prompts, narrative tools - all under #narrative tag
I mostly reblog small artists and writers while avoiding big names, but sometimes people make valid points about giants universes (like Marvel or DC) tag is #big media and title name
I do not take responsibility for blogs from which I reblog posts, I'm not doing moral inspections
the ability to create rabbit holes into alternate universes. I’ve seen a kindle unlimited story- poseidons academy- with this superpower and it broke me
