Ive been on a drawing spree uhhh anyways I think DC should give Terry and Carrie their own Batman and Robin run and finally let the BatBros have a break lmao
It's been about 30 years since the last sighting of batman and the disappearance of robin and batman’s other allies such as nightwing and batgirl. Could this be a new resurgence of vigilanteism?!
Is this Batman the same as the original? If Batman's return can we expect other returns such as a return of the justice league? Will heroism return? Will hope finally return to the city that never sleeps?
If this is the original hero returning, he or she must be well into their 50’s if not older. Batman was a symbol of equal parts hope and fear, he gave the people of Gotham something to believe in until his sudden disappearance following the fall of the joker who died mysteriously due to a gunshot. The gun was never identified. Many people speculated that the death of the joker was also the death of Batman.
We asked medical professionals how likely it is that someone well into their 50’s could perform the same feats as Batman then and now: here’s what they had to say.
“Realistically anyone in their 50’s would struggle to do what batman does, as it is incredibly physically demanding, especially taking into consideration the kind of criminals batman typically faces. Take bane for example. He was a powerhouse and a force of nature in his prime especially with the enhancements he had and we have footage from multiple sources of bane putting batman through walls and even slamming him back first into pure concrete. He also consistently refused to use lethal force; everything he did was to subdue the criminals never to permanently get rid of them. Taking that into account to be Batman, someone would have to be in prime physical condition, maintaining vigilante training, a good diet, have incredible near inhuman reflexes, and most of all to be in good health. Which in my professional opinion that's not physically possible for anyone in their 50s, not even someone with superhuman abilities could’ve managed to consecutively and consistently take such a strain. Batman constantly does high impact combat, chases across rooftops, and many more. Which leads me to be this batman whoever he or she may be even if they have improved tech then the previous one is different because no one’s body could handle that sort of strain especially not for well over 50 years.”
So what you're saying here is that this batman is someone new perhaps even a prodigy trained by the original or someone impersonating Gotham's hero?
“Yes, that is my belief based on how the human body works, and conditions people in their early 50’s tend to have. Most people as they get older are more prone to heart conditions, and many other health issues; it's just not physically possible for someone that age to do what Batman does. There is a reason most athletes that get on in those years are forced to retire and I expect it is the same with Batman: whoever he or she is.”
We spoke with some locals here’s there response:
“Oh yeah i actually got a photo of batman he seemed to be soaring through the sky, it was so cool, it was like seeing a myth come to life ya-know. I mean yeah the footage is a little grainy sure its 2039 and yet somehow our camera quality got worse.”
“So do you think Batman has returned? How do you feel about it?”
“I think it's a blessing. I mean yeah okay I'm a teenager batman was before my time but i grew up hearing stories about him from my parents how batman prevented catastrophe constantly. How even prevented Gotham from blowing up once and even fought aliens. Which I still think may have been an exaggeration but also Gotham is weird as hell so its not impossible. I mean I once saw my teacher in grade school spontaneously combust like actual fire and flames the whole nine yards. So yeah if Batman's back I'm all for it maybe he can make this city a better place and a little less insane”.
So there you have it.. It seems the return of Batman is giving Gotham something it hasn’t seen in more than a decade which is hope even if it is soaked in skepticism.
Speaking of skepticism we were able to get a comment from the retired beloved commissioner James Gordon, who was around when Batman first started. He was there during the golden age of heroes.
This is what he had to say:
“I’ve seen Batman on occasion work with him and oftentimes he saved my ass. If you ask me this quote unquote new batman or so-called sightings of him are nothing more than wishful thinking. At best it's the kids of this age wanting a new hero. Perhaps some kid got bored and played a damned prank on the city as a whole. My only concern is that even a potential sighting of the bat could lead to another resurgence of crime and new villains wanting to challenge the new bat. Lets hope reporter, that it's nothing but a bad prank, that's all I have to say”.
So what you're saying Mr. Gordon, is that Batman did more harm than good for the city?
“No, the original Batman was a damned good hero, there was a reason even villains respected him. But in this day and age its best to leave the criminals to the authorities, less casualties this way and some things are best left in the past. I'm lucky to have witnessed the golden age of heroes and I'm proud of all the efforts that were taken for my city but that admiration doesn’t end the risk. The risk to a new vigilante, the risk to civilians, hell even a risk to the damned criminals themselves. All it takes is one mistake. One wrong move and it's over.”
