Saw this picture on Pinterest and a great idea for @moonfly7 Aftermath AU came right into my head
What if instead of some permanent akuma's, Metamorphosis, due to his magic nature unlocked the butterfly's hidden power? If Ladybug has Miracle Cure and Cat has Miraculous Pantheress, what if Butterfly can make something akin to miraculous, but with an akuma for a kwami?
The idea is that akuma flies into an object, but it doesn't just turn a person into a puppet for Metamorph, rather it gives them the ability to transform into a villain. Sure, he has some control ove them, but it's not like they are prisoners inside their own bodies.
To make it more fair, I'd day it takes really a lot of time and concentration from him to make one, so he can't spam them, but he can call upon them like his minions.
I already can promise that Stormy Weather is going to be a menace who gas to be reigned in often, so he doesn't call upon her often.
Maybe it can be deakumatized as normal akuma, and while the host remembers everything, they can still act like they don't for more of ominous, behind the scenes/right in front of hero's nose type of action.
Mr. Pigeon doesn't get one, but if heroes knew about their existence that'd bet that he has, because dude is akumatized every week or two.
Mr. Mime would also be a very formidable opponent. Very reminiscent of Miraculous PV where he was meant to be more permanent villain.
Obviously likes of Lady Wi-Fi, Bubbler, Stoneheart, Reflecta and others aren't going to happen because they are heroes and their kwami's protect them, but others are fair game.
Would be funny if Theo still became Copy-Cat, an exact copy of Chat Noir, not Pantheress, because he remembers that there was a male blonde Cat holder (Mandela effect, or aftereffects of some time shenanigans because Alix is not Bunnix, but Timebreaker)
Also with Alix being Timebreaker there could be a scene of Bunnix from another timeline trying to purify her. Why? So that this timeline's Bunnix would fix everything that is wrong here, except this version of her wasn't akumatized against her will how she thought. She was given a choice, and she chose power and Metamorph.
Sure, she won't fight for him, but running errands, transmitting messages if he somewhy can't, helping his dramatic ass with theatrics is something she's on board with. Maybe she just toys with heroes because they can't catch her to purify her.
Seeing that Kim is not that nice and interesting, he can be Dark Cupid (stupid, villain sounding name he chose for himself) instead of King Monkey, but he was a mistake on Adrien's part and so he's used as a pawn and a shield for more important akumas and a participation prise for heroes to deakumatize. How this moron manages to escape and keep his akuma is beyond Adrien, fool's luck?
I'm curious about Lila in this AU, will she be a holder with Ladybug? I think unlikely as Rena is so much better and smarter than Volpina, plus she's a friend of Marinette's. The idea of her being Volpina AFTER Alya gets Fox miraculous is something worth exploring. I think that just like in Monarch/Proxy AU she'd try to backstab Metamorphosis, but would get punished, so she settles on behaving to keep the power separating her from usual mortals.
