how do you imagine wheeljack would react to/treat a sparked up starscream? would he be doting or perhaps just overprotective and paranoid?
I have sooo many thoughts on this asjdhjks!! It could honestly go in so many directions (fluff/angst/the fallout/etc)
In IDW2, Wheeljack was definitely an overprotective caretaker

So! Based on that I think he would absolutely dote and be overprotective. He may be a wacky little guy but he cares so much (canonically!)
I think he may also have some paranoia, partly because Starscream is paranoid and it rubs off on him and partly because he has his own knack for getting in dangerous situations, some of his own making
I've sort of touched on what the fallout could be in read it and weep and given how the comics set on Cybertron post-war show how tenuous the peace still is, I think they both would have reason to be paranoid/protective. Most of the Autobots don't really trust Starscream's leadership, even if (imo) he is honestly doing his best. Again, stealing Wheeljack's characterization from IDW2 here, he would absolutely be overprotective, even without Starscream's own paranoia getting to him.
In any scenario, he would definitely be bothering Ratchet about everything, to Starscream's horror. Starscream makes one (1) offhand comment about feeling nauseated one morning and now the Hatchet™️ has all of his medical records. All five million+ years' worth. Sent over an unencrypted line because Wheeljack was panicking. Starscream suddenly realizes why half the things he makes explode. Somewhere in the galaxy, Soundwave just got a bunch of new reading material.
I've also had a plot bunny for a story where Starscream is sparked and Wheeljack just,,,,, doesn't pick up on it. Bless him, he's a sweet guy, but I don't think he's the most observant or tactful. Starscream is, of course, too dramatic to say things bluntly (or maybe in denial, just for a bit more angst). Everyone else knows. Starscream makes a speech about how important getting the new education system up and running is -- you know, for all those other new sparklings -- and Wheeljack sits there watching it like *sigh* "I wish we could have sparklings one day". Ironhide/Windblade/Chromia/whoever else is witnessing this disaster is just like "???? should we... tell him?? should somebody tell him???"

Starscream and Wheeljack have interfaced several times but it’s always either been Starscream ridding or spiking- he won’t let Wheeljack take control. Not yet. He’s got issues ok. And it’s not that he’s worried Wheeljack of all mechs will do anything, it’s just that nagging fear of giving up control. So they’ve stuck with Star being in control and Wheeljack is perfectly content with that.
Until one day, Stars so fucking tired but also needs to ground out charge and quick. He’s charged to hell and back but to physically tired to actually do anything and it’s a conundrum he can’t figure out how to fix. And Wheeljack is like. I can eat you out if you want. And one part of Star is like, no that’s a lot of trust to put into a mech. But the other parts like. It’s Wheeljack! If my valve explodes than maybe this charge will disappear.
And so Wheeljack very very carefully eats Star out to the point it’s like being teased.
And then they cuddle and fuck like rabbits in the morning BUT THATS BESIDES THE POINT
Starop: you just want Starscream to be happy, you want Optimus to be selfish for fucking ONCE PLEASE. Usually a ship based around character development/un-development and positivity. Also its funny watching Starscream absolutely refuse any of Optimus's advice only to watch him either accidentally take it or use it.
Megastar: you either really hate Starscream, or you really hate Megatron, or you hate them both. You may also just really like the thought of these two being an absolute POWER COUPLE with major issues. This ship is riddled with character development possibilities, and MULTIPLE plot ideas; this ship could go several ways and I'm here for it.
Starwave: shut the fuck up, this can't exist..... it does? Holy fuck- uh well honestly, it seems like y'all just wanna lowkey see Soundwave DO more. Especially in TFP. Take charge and be selfish. This could also be a plot thing, as some have the HC that in TFP Soundwave is a victim of slavecoding. You just wanna be watched over by a lowkey unstoppable force and I’m here for it.
Stardown n'out/ BreakStarOut/ etc.: this ship could have multiple names and I'm upset at the gays for not coming up with something. You probably just want them all to find SOME kind of comfort with each other on the Nemesis, but some of you absolutely wanna see them all Manipulate, Girlboss, and Malewife their way outta shit.
StarShock: you bitch. You pretentious whore. I love you. They fit together really well physically given the fact that Shockwave thick as fuck and Starscream is a literal twig. I can see one-sided pining from either side with this one. Y'all just wanna be chased huh.
Starbee: yall just wanna soil the UwU babu thing Bee has going on, tbh I can live with that. Bee taking charge and being his own leader and Starscream learning to be a little more positive to himself and others. This ship is very similar to StarOp but Bee's getting more than just 'learning to put himself first' out of it which is cute.

You don't know WHERE this ship could go. Could be absolutely filthy or an exploration of both their characters given that they are sort of two sides of the same coin.
