Hey dear!! I am so sorry it took me a small eternity to answer this ask, I have been terribly inactive for a while. I am so glad I was able to spark a small part of the inspiration! All I can say is write whatever you’re comfortable with and have fun with it! No one is going to be mad at you for doing what you want! Are all Villains redeemable?

(A RWBY Adam Redemption rebuttal)

(The beginning of a rant the poor folks over at RWBY AA: Discord had to read with their own eyes, and I thought and felt, feeling is usually a slippery slope for me, that I had to expand further and add visual aids , and anyone that follows me knows, I love visual aids! They are pretty and colourful and a picture can convey a thousand word..... God help you poor fuckers if i was smart and talented enough to overlay music on this, which when I think about it, is pretty much offered on youtube.... Not addressing any insecurities on my part, swiftly moving on...)

Every villain is human. Humanize them, cause bad and wicked and evil people walk amongst us everyday..

Not all bad /evil/ wicked people are charictaures of said trope. Over the top, bombastic , MWAAA HHHAAAA the world is mine!

What you dont want is empathy/sympathy for an irredeemable villain.

But humanize the daylights out of them (depending on your genre /audience demographic/medium)

For a villain that is redeemable, humanize them but also show the seeds of discontent, inner conflict, conflict of their actions, conflict of their ideals,  whether indoctrinated/learned/or their own misguided musings.

Whether it comes from an outside source or their own realization , who cares , it still has to happen.

Then take the time for that villain to grow, slowly accept their transformation... ah sure , if they slip up and make super dark comments and morally grey suggestions of how to deal with an issue, even better.

A redemption has to be earned to be believable. I’m going to cite the standard of redemption arcs: Avatar the Last Airbender’s Zuko

(and imho the only one, there is a reason why other shows hold it as a standard)

Imagine if Zuko , after his hella awkward moment in the woods practicing this,

He rocked on over to the GAANG , gave his practiced intro , delivering it suavely and  everyone , including Katara, just took it at face value and they all carried on like super happy funtime best pals. wham bam, no conflict, full acceptance...

Imagine if we didnt have “Blue Spirit” or “Zuko Alone”, and we came across this, out of left field,

It is not believable

Us and Zuko would be scratching our heads going, "Is that it?"

What makes this particular redemption arc so good is the work that goes into it The time, the attention to detail, not being shied away from by the writers, that  intentionally trickles down and infuses with the character's essence of being.  

A redemption should be a slow burn, from starting point of why/how they are villains and a larger amount of focus of how they have overcome that villainy and change of perspective culminating with coming full circle.

Motifs of a redemption arc should be peppered throughout a character’s whole narrative arc, whether that be planned from the beginning or a change of direction midway, (which is pretty much the whole psyche of redemption arcs)

Then there are morally grey characters whose actions can be perceived as villainous and can have, what looks like on the outset, a rather easy way to redeem themselves, if they are willing to sacrifice what they deem most important to them. In the case of Raven Branwen, its is her own life and well being... (We shall see how that plays out RWBY FNDM.)

Dont be afraid to humanize your villains. Even those that are ‘irredeemable’  

However, understand that there is a huge difference between this,

Question to the Money-Making Writer Blogs

Writer Blogs who make Money,

can anyone tell a bit about their own experiences concerning creating your own blogs and making money with your (original) stories?

I was thinking since forever creating one, but I'm far too insecure to, so I'm trying to weigh my options (I've searched the net for the pros and cons, except for tumblr).

So, if anyone has any experience, would you guys be willing to share?
