I love your metas and the way you connect current episode's events to past episodes. I had a thought, but can't recall a way to connect it to a past episode, so I wanted to run it by you. Do you think there might be a parallel / contrast between the "nice" and "easy" romantic relationship with Ana for Eddie (per ep 4.13), versus what a romantic relationship with Buck might be for Eddie? Difficult and/or messy make some sense to me (and may be why Eddie hasn't yet gone there), but I don't recall anything from Eddie's past to support this. If you have a minute, I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Thank you!
Awwwww, I’m so happy that you like them, hon! *hugs big* And that my memory manages to hold up and connect the dots, at least for now. XD As for what you’ve suggested, if they do make Buddie canon, I think there’s no doubt there’s going to be a contrast between the way Eddie is with Buck vs the way he is with Ana. If we look back at Shannon, the only other r/s we’ve seen Eddie in, there’s no doubt that there was passion there. They fall into bed together when they’re not supposed to, Shannon comments on how good the sex between them has always been, etc.
But then consider how Eddie already is with Buck! In 201, we see Eddie paying attention to him as Buck poses for a selfie in the gym, getting info about Buck before they even talked, looking for a way in to be his friend even though Buck’s initial hostility didn’t make that easy... Plus, the whole lawsuit arc. That moment when Eddie and Buck argue in the supermarket is in itself more passionate than anything Eddie and Ana have had so far. And it’s made it clear that it isn’t easy for Eddie to be so emotionally invested in Buck, because look at what not having Buck in his life does to him! He’s a mess. And yet, Eddie doesn’t back away from him, instead we get the epic forgiveness and hug of ep 306. It’s not easy being so close to Buck, but it’s worth it. In fact, they’re possibly even closer after the lawsuit, since we get to see their hang out night after it, not before (in 309, 312 and 403). And then there’s the infamous kitchen scene. When I wrote in my 413 meta, “[love is] challenging and makes you gulp because you want this thing so much” I was thinking of the way Eddie reacts to Buck grabbing his own belt and stepping right up into Eddie’s personal space with that flirtatious tone. You can practically hear the gulp. Beyond that, as far as we know (in canon), neither guy has been with a man before, so you know that’s going to add to the challenge of being together. It’s not gonna be easy. But, just like in the past, it’s gonna be worth it. ;) I hope I managed to answer your question, darling! xoxox

Omg ALICE. THAT GLORIOUS EPISODE. YOUR GLORIOUS META. My stomach is in KNOTS - out of both pain and excitement 😫 Something that jumped out to me while watching the episode was the fact that when Eddie went to Buck about the woman poisoning her son, he said “I found the fund me pages.” But... it was Ana who found them. I love that there was no mention of her and he took credit for it. I’m not entirely sure of the reasoning but it makes me giggle thinking that Eddie wants to impress Buck so much or Ana is just so far removed from his mind that he didn’t even think about crediting her in solving this mystery. I don’t know how I’ll survive until Monday. I can’t breathe. I’m shaking. I don’t know how anything but Buddie is possible right now... here’s literally no other option. Anything other narrative would be so forced at this point! Thank you for sharing your meta!!!

It wasn’t until I was trying to edit my meta notes (that I write while watching the ep live) into a coherent meta post that I realized she was completely absent from the ending of the ep. I was thinking absent in the physical sense (even Ali watching Buck on TV was a sort of physical presence, even if not on the scene), and when Eddie’s so focused on Buck during those last minutes of the ep, it’s pretty clear she’s not on his mind. But you’re right, she’s even absent from Eddie’s thoughts before the whole sniper incident and thank you for pointing it out! It’s hilarious. Poor Ana (I say as I chuckle to myself). And then contrast that with how Eddie HAD to credit Buck with helping him to build Christopher’s skateboard, though he totally could have taken all the credit to himself... we know who’s always on his mind, then. ;D And I’m with you, nothing other than Buddie makes sense given everything the show has done. Does that mean we are getting canon Buddie? If we see some sort of a feelings realization in 414, I def think so. It’s sadly still a gutsy move on the part of the show if they go there. And also i send you my post in massage about the sence and I basically said it gave me a reference of 2x01 with the ambulance sence. That was kind of the beginning of their friendship. On that time it was Buck the first one who realized how connected they are and how Eddie will be so important to him. So maybe this time it's Eddie's turn to realize that Buck is one for him and from there things will change just like that time. What do you think?

Honestly, the only thoughts I have on what Eddie said to Carla are that our boy already knew on some level that he was with Ana for the wrong reason/s, and that he needs to break it off ASAP, ‘coz this isn’t fair, not to Ana, not to Chris and not to him. Ooooh, I like the way you think, hon! Into 201, Buck and Eddie weren’t friends yet, but Buck went into that ambulance with the bulletproof vest on, ready to impress Eddie or die alongside him. And now we’re almost three years later (I think. What is the show’s timeline anyway? Does it even have one at this point?) and we know from the promo that Buck will crawl under that ambulance, knowing he doesn’t have to impress anyone, he has nothing to prove, but wanting to save Eddie or die trying. THESE FUCKING MORONS, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH, THEY NEED TO GET MARRIED YESTERDAY. I can’t, I just can’t with them. Holly mama... I just saw the episode of 9-1-1 and, oh my god, I just stared at screen for like 5 minutes after it ended. When THAT scene ended! I swear my heart it's beating like it wants to tear out of my chest...

Something that always stood out to me in Jinx was Eddie (after his run in with Ana) coming up to the loft & saying he was having trouble sleeping (with a brief glance at Buck). Again in Suspicion (after Carla plants that seed of doubt), he tells Buck & Chim he had trouble sleeping. It's subtle & wouldn't matter much to a casual viewer, but it's now been implied twice that his relationship with Ana (whether to pursue it, to continue it) is causing restlessness. I hope they delve into this more.
Hi Nonnie! And thank you for this ask. You’re making a very interesting connection between these two incidents. I def see it in Jinx, Eddie runs into Ana earlier in the day, then he can’t sleep and the conversation between the team turns to Ana, courtesy of Buck who’s reading about love languages. I’m not sure about 413 though, just because the immediate suggestion would be that Eddie couldn’t sleep because he was bothered by what they found out (Sheila making her own son sick). Then again, that comment could be one of those double meaning things. If it is, it def strengthens what we’ve already seen in Eddie’s discomfort when talking to Carla and looking at Ana, meaning that he knows this r/s ain’t it and he needs to move on from it, but he’s still hesitating, because on paper, Ana is everything he should want. there are so many things going on in this episode i totally forgot to include things that we know will happen but this a sketch of what i think the episode will look like. how they are fitting it all into 45 minutes astounds me and im a little worried it'll be paced very fast and would be better as 2 parts but they are working with what they were given and i trust that they have it figured out.

buck and bobby have a one on one
Buck tells chris
buck breaksdown finally after putting on a brave face for everyone else and maybe chris' reaction breaks this wall somehow, either by lashing out (because it is easy to lash out at the people who you know will always forgive you) or saying something along the lines of "its gonna be okay kid"
the montage of everyone getting ready for work with a bullet proof vest
there is another incident and Athena figures out who it is, raids the house, he's not there, but they find evidence of arson planning
the 118 is called to a fire, bobby is in danger, athena arrives on scene etc. (i think it is plausible that bobby may be seriously injured as well)
buck puts himself in danger to protect everyone else, athena trains with the rifle, they catch the guy
then scenes with eddie in the hospital, surgery went well, hes gonna be okay, eventually, chris is there, abuela is there, (maybe ana?) (possibly buck?) he gets to go home
buck and eddie one on one moment (manifesting a "you saved him, thats how he remembers it" parallel) maybe he mentions he needs to break up with ana
family brunch with a voiceover and everyone is happy and healthy :))
somewhere in there athena and bobby communicate like healthy adults.

1. Looking up at the cloudless sky at night seeing stars and the moon shining brightly. Being able to pick out constellations as well as different planets and stars makes me smile.
2. My mom sending me pictures of my nephew. Because of the pandemic I haven’t seen him in over six weeks and he’s growing up so fast.
3. Seeing my friends! It has become less because of the current situation but that makes it all the more special when we can meet up outside.
4. Watching 9-1-1 and being able to fangirl with everyone on here! I’ve missed being this invested in a show.
5. Music. I’m not as much as a music lover as other people but some songs are instant pick-me-ups!
