Buckley-Diaz Family in 9-1-1 S06E01 ~ Let The Games Begin
Buckweek! Day One: family dinner | cooking | "try this and tell me what you think"
Asked my non-9-1-1-watching husband who he thought these 3 were. He said, idk, husbands and their kid?
Saw this shirt at the Walmart and went "Oh fuck I recognize that shirt!"
My dad looked at me like I was crazy
Theo and Buck 🫶 (pt.1)
My heart, I cannot. I'm gonna die watching s10 and these two interact.
Oh God, I don't think I'm gonna be able to handle Eddie and Theo on the screen together, and supposedly, Chris is gonna be a big part of it too??
Cuteness overload, not gonna be able to handle it 😍😍😍
I love that when Hen and Chimney (best friends of 15 years) have a fight EVERYONE gets involved. Because no one once to see these—usually level headed individuals who love each other— be broken apart. The entire friend group intervenes in this bestie squabble. But when Eddie and Buck have a fight absolutely no one gets involved. In fact they vacate the vicinity and let that shit blow up going “they’ll figure it out.”
Hen and Chim fight: the earth has tilted off its axis, we need to intervene.
Buck and Eddie fight: it's another domestic, we need to vacate IMMEDIATELY.
I feel neaseous. I wrote a 9-1-1 fic. It is my first fic. Please be kind. It's a post-lawsuit, hurt/no comfort fix. NO ONE DIES THO
Edit: I added a second chapter, now it's angst with a hopeful ending! I still made myself cry writing it and rereading it.
Anyways, here it is?

I think buck must've told eddie before he decided to foster theo. Because ryan said eddie was supposed to be more involved with the story but he asked tim to rewrite the script so they could fit the new ending in there, with eddie sending the guy off to el paso and everything.
I think so too, but it's a funny idea for angsty fics if Buck made that decision without Eddie and Eddie is like "how do you make such big decisions without me? we are a family!" and then he just bluscreens cuz technically they aren't but Eddie's been living with that mentality for some reason
Buck hitting him back before Eddie can process what just came out of his mouth, "Oh, you mean like you did before you decided you were going to move to El paso? And buy a house there? And then bought the near death trap without a word? Like those big decisions YOU made without me, and I supported you the best I was able to at that time even though I constantly felt like I was dying inside?? At least this doesn't take me a third of the way across the country!" Before storming away and Eddie starts having Shannon flashbacks of 'I needed you to have my back! Eddie knows best!'
"oh Eddie is gonna be the Theo whisperer"
"no it's gonna be Maddie!"
"nuh uh, it's gonna be Chris!"
It's gonna be Ravi. For no discernable reason. He's the only one without kids besides Harry. No one understands the logic. Not even Athena can get him to settle like Ravi can.
Ravi is simultaneously stressed and smug about it, at all times.
If you aren't posting on social media, is it now social voyeurism?
So most believe Theo is gonna get taken from Buck. Oliver wants Eddie to have a feelings realization and pull away from Buck.
WHAT IF Eddie's parents come visit and see how ingrained Theo and Buck are in their lives. They made snide comments about Buck and when Eddie defends Buck, Ramon says something that sends Eddie reeling, clueing him into his feelings. After they leave, Eddie unintentionally (or maybe not) pulls away from Buck.
Unbeknownst to Eddie, his parents made allegations against Buck that caused Theo to be taken away after a few weeks and when Buck tries to go to Eddie about it, they have Divorce Era fight 5.0, so Eddie only finds out after he asks Chris how Theo was and Chris blows up on Eddie.
Cue angst for Eddie, Buck not letting Eddie back in until Eddie makes some grand gesture that gets Theo back and he confesses his feelings and everything he was processing and actually verbally apologizes.
And everyone else has to deal with these two emotionally constipated idiots. It lasts for like 4 episodes, at least?
10 pm
Chris: Dad I need a poster board for my project
Eddie: I’ll pick it up tomorrow after work
Chris: It’s due tomorrow
Eddie: Why are you telling me just now then? Get your shoes.
*Calling Buck*
Eddie: Do you know anywhere still open that sells poster boards
Buck: I have some at my place for this exact situation
Eddie: What?
Buck: I used to do that same thing to Maddie. One time I couldn’t get a poster board that I had to use an old box.
Eddie: You are a life saver
Chris: I also need a topic for my project
Eddie: ……Take the zero I’m going to bed
Chris: Dad!!!
Eddie: *Snores*
Chris: Buck
Buck: I’m coming I’m coming I’ll bring the stuff
Buck getting the zoomies: I have prepared my entire life for this
Knowing it was Maddie that called Eddie about Bobby, do we think the reason Eddie wanted Buck to ask what it was like because for a split second he thought it was Buck?
So, Ryliver answered how they would want Buddie to go canon, but I think combining the two would be FANTASTIC. Eddie having a telenovela moment of "Oh shit I'm not straight" followed by an even more telenovela moment of "OH I LOVE BUCK" followed by the gay panic and pulling away from Buck until Buck confronts Eddie. Cue an argument until Eddie confesses in the most telenovela way possible. It would be such a wonderfully chaotic episode (or couple of episodes, so it's not too much angst and telenovela drama in one go).
As cute as it would be, I don't want a TheoEddie natural disaster YET. Not until BuckTheo get more established as a unit, like EddieChris already were in S3 (and S2). I don't wanna see Eddie immediately jumping in to help Buck. I want to see Buck struggle. I want to see Buck nearly breakdown and get frustrated and lash out and then apologize to Theo, because as sucky as it is, that's human. That's normal. Even if the child doesn't understand. They need to build that trust, and it shouldn't be instantaneous. We shouldn't open s10 with open trust. We, as the audience, should get to see the relationship build, even a few bricks, BEFORE Eddie starts stepping in. Only when Buck absolutely, devastatingly breaks on Eddie's doorstep, does Eddie step in. Because he knows Buck can do it.
Just like after the lightning strike, he waits for Buck to go to him.
I think it'd be great if everyone else was constantly offering unsolicited parenting advice and criticisms, overwhelming Buck, making him feel like shit bc he's getting contradicting advice but he loves all of them so he's trying to follow it all and it's. It's just. It's making things worse. And it's all starting to crumble in front of him.
And that's when Eddie steps in. Quietly. Not to take control, but to offer support, just like Buck has been doing for him all these years.
Also, I think a TheoEddie disaster would be more devastating post-Buddie going canon (if it ever does, I'm praying for it to). Let's say s10, buddie goes canon? TheoEddie disaster opener for S11.
So I've been reading 9-1-1 different first meeting fics and there's a couple fake dating fics as well. Two were at a wedding, so I had this idea that I think would be hilarious for canon:
The Buckley family is hosting a family reunion for the first time in like 30 years, Buck and Maddie are invited. Buck doesn't wanna go alone, so he tells Eddie and Chris about it and asks if Eddie will go with him but they can make it a game about who can get people to believe the most outrageous stories.
When they get there, Chris announces to everyone that his two dads are celebrating their 10 year anniversary soon, and he's so glad both of his dads are so happy. Cue the chaos from there. Theo is just there for the food.
It's important to note that Maddie and Chim were not in on this little plan, and Buck and Eddie either intentionally or not, avoid them both for the entire day.
Reversal Will Reveal concept, where Buck also just writes Eddie in as Theo's guardian and also just does not tell Eddie.
Until Eddie's talking to Maddie and somehow gets on to mention Maddie taking Theo if something happens to Buck.
And Maddie just "?? I mean I obviously would, but aren't you taking him?"
Eddie's like "what?"
And Maddie's "Well you are Theo's guardian in Buck Will"
And Eddie gets to experience a taste of his own medicine in that moment
Eddie just stares at Maddie for a few seconds, blinking rapidly, before blurting out, "Him not telling me is payback for when I did the same thing with Chris, isn't it?"
Maddie stares back at Eddie before heaving a big sigh and draining her wine glass.
"What, EXACTLY, do you mean when you say you did the same thing? When did this happen?" Maddie rubs her temples, suddenly seeming exhausted.
Eddie just shrugs and keeps his eyes trained on the wine glass Maddie just drained. "I dunno...do you remember shortly after the Christmas you and Chim got together, when I got trapped underground?" He sees Maddie nod hesitantly out of the corner of his eye before continuing, "About a week after that."
The silence that follows is deafening as Maddie calculates the time frame before blurting out, "You'd known Buck for a year and a half at this point, and you chose him over every one else? Why did Chris go stay with your parents instead of Buck if that's the case? And why are you and Buck more married and in love than me and Chim without actually being married?!"
Eddie looks like a deer caught in headlights, unable to process anything after hearing "you and Buck...married" because OH
Oh
Eddie likes the sound of that.
Eddie cuts off Maddie's rant that he wasn't listening to. "Sorry, I gotta go propose to your brother, we're fixing the not married part asap."
Would it be worse to have Theo taken from Buck temporarily or to have Margaret spend a whole episode comparing Theo to Daniel and never acknowledge Buck, like at all?
Picture this scene, after someone clues Eddie into some feelings so there's a shift but nothing's been said yet:
Buck falls onto his back, panting hard, face red with exertion. Eddie collapses next to him, gasping for air, turned on his side facing Buck.
"We cannot keep doing this." Buck pants out, rolling his head to the side to make eye contact with Eddie.
Eddie huffs out a laugh. "I know, but what else are we gonna do?"
Buck snorts and turns his head back to look straight up. Eddie rolls on his back and scoots closer to Buck, arms touching. He curls his pinkie over Buck's, whose lips curl into a shy smile, still looking up.
Out of nowhere, Theo launches himself onto Buck's stomach, yelling "Buck! Eddie! You can't stop now! Spider-Man needs help with Doc Oc!"pointing across the backyard to where Chris is waving his crutches around at Theo while cackling manically.
Eddie and Buck look at each other and grin, pushing themselves off the ground as they help Spider-Theo defeat Doc OcChris at the park.
