today I found out my mother doesn’t know what dandelions are and now I’m wondering what other strange secrets she’s been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you don’t have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
she’s aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
For comparison, this is a daffodil
See, folks in the southern US will tell you up and down those are buttercups, actually.
i don’t think so? i’m southern and buttercups are what we call these things (much tinier)
Wait I thought those bigger cup ones were Easter Lillies???
This is an Easter Lily. It is an actual lily and therefore deadly to cats.
They’re marigolds and I know a bitch when I see one!
This is a marigold:
….we need to start taking the phrase “go touch grass” more literally. go outside and examine a flower i beg u
“buttercups” is a name applied to MANY flowers. in my part of the south it was this one:
imo there’s correct identifications of dandelions, daffodils, easter lilies and marigolds in this thread, but buttercups are simply impossible to agree on and the only solution is for everyone to post pictures of their local buttercups
*squints* is that a motherfucking EVENING PRIMROSE?!??
Hello I would like to add to the confusion:
That purple fella is a Morning Glory as told by my mothers (texan)
⬆️ morning glory
wait so if thats morning glory what is this?
*Puts hand over gaud’s mouth* It’s a butterfly pea. Please ignore the Latin name.
*licks ur palm* i won’t be silenced THE PEOPLE HAVE TO KNOW
Autism is the reason for why I am the way I am. I am just as much autistic as I am human.
There was recently a copyright infringement case in YA and I need everyone to know that the following sentence was in the legal decision:
“Hot, sexy, dangerous boys, central to virtually all young adult romance novels, cannot be copyrighted.”
“Regarding setting, the court held that both works taking place in Alaska high schools was not protectable because Alaska is a public place and setting a teen novel in a high school is a common genre convention.”
Freeman v. Deebs-Elkenaney | Loeb & Loeb LLP
I've read the entire decision (skimming over the purely legal precedent/definitions bit) and here are some of my favorite bits:
Lmao this is amazing
sorry about the celiac's diagnosis! I don't know a lot of recipes off the top of my head, but one that I've always liked is no-bake cookies, which are super simple (6 ingredients) and very tasty. I personally prefer the version without peanut butter, but you can also do one with it if you prefer.
"Quick Cookies" 3 cups quick oats 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup milk (I use 2% usually, never tried whole) 1/2 cup butter 3 Tbsp cocoa 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
Melt butter in medium saucepan over low heat. Add cocoa, vanilla, sugar, and milk; heat to a boil. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in oats. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper and allow to cool (at least 30 min).
I might actually make some today thanks to this lol
Also gluten free Oreos are surprisingly good! Especially the mint ones imo
Ooooh! I'm trying these!
r u guys ok i haven't heard anyone say yeet in awhile
u guys used to love yeet...
*sighs* this bitch really IS empty

my body is not my own.
I constantly feel like my days are just spent trying to predict what my body is going to throw a tantrum about, just so I can keep functioning
And like I'm barely managing that. I struggle to eat, sleep, walk and on top of that I have to work and do full time uni bc of this hellscape we are in.
TBH i am in a bit of a mood bc I got my third concussion (someone give me a medal) and the last one took a year before i felt almost fully recovered. a year spent where i couldnt even be in the car for more than 5 minutes. And that was before the chronic illnesses.
I just feel like my body and my kind are two seperate things and my mind wants to do so much but my body is so fucking fragile that a light wind will blow me over.
I want to feel strong and empowered and like I belong to myself again and I dont know how to achieve that.
Any advice is welcome please and thank you bc im going to crash out
God I really need more people to be talking about Steal on Amazon Prime rn

Heckin periods, am I right?
Did I just sleep for 16.5 hours? Yes, yes I did.
Am I chronically ill? Yes, yes I am.
Am I on my period? Also yes.
I always wake up hearing that stupid little voice in my head saying that I am so lazy etc etc but I am not. A lazy person doesn't WANT to sleep that much. no one does. you dont wake up feeling refreshed.
I am not lazy just because there is a significant lack of research when it comes to women's health. My body is already dealing with more than the average person, and then you throw in a period which does havic on your body and OF COURSE you need more rest.
and non of this "its normal just buck up" bullshit. roughly half the population experiences periods and yet we still lack empathy for each other. just becasue you are willing to suffer in silence doesn't mean I am
I am truley so tired of living in a world that isn't built for disabled and chronically ill people. That also isnt built for women. That isn't built for anyone that isnt a healthy white man.
BUT I am also so tired of living in a body that demands shit like this. My brain and my body feel so disconnected all the time and it feels like my stupid meat suit is just taking things without asking. Which is ridiculous because its all me. But I hate feeling at war with myself fucking constantly.
Anyhoo, thats my rant for the day. If you can comiserate I am sorry your going through it. And if you have advice pls let me know lol. I am this close to biting someone like a fucking goose.
i'm begging you guys to start pirating shit from streaming platforms. there are so many websites where you can stream that shit for free, here's a quick HOW TO:
1) Search for: watch TITLE OF WORK free online
2) Scroll to the bottom of results. Click any of the "Complaint" links
3) You will be taken to a long list of links that were removed for copyright infringement. Use the 'find' function to search for the name of the show/movie you were originally searching for. You will get something like this (specifics removed because if you love an illegal streaming site you don't post its url on social media)
4) each of these links is to a website where you can stream shit for free. go to the individual websites and search for your show/movie. you might have to copy-paste a few before you find exactly what you're looking, but the whole process only takes a minute. the speed/quality is usually the same as on netflix/whatever, and they even have subtitles! (make sure to use an adblocker though, these sites are funded by annoying popups)
In conclusion, if you do this often enough you will start recognizing the most dependable websites, and you can just bookmark those instead. (note: this is completely separate from torrenting, which is also a beautiful thing but requires different software and a vpn)
you can also download the media in question (look for a "download" button built into the video window, or use a browser extension such as Video DownloadHelper.)
if the "Complaint" links are not visible for you:
Option 1: try the DuckDuckGo search engine instead (bonus: dedicated to privacy! doesn't track your data!)
Option 2: go directly to LumenDatabase.org (the website that collects the complaints--and therefore the removed links) and search for the title you want. look for results titled "DMCA (Copyright) Complaint to Google" featuring the media you're looking for. Proceed to Step 3 (above).
personally, i'm a huge fan of r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH. they keep their links up to date and they also rank them, basically. they also have all kinds of little pages explaining how to safely pirate shit.
^^^^what they said. I'm surprised people are still reblogging this post now that google's flushed itself down the toilet. so here is your
2026 UPDATE:
just go to r/FreeMediaHeckYeah and r/Piracy. it's easier, more reliable, and will take care of all your piracy needs!
