I do not have twitter, my Instagram is a personal one and has no fandom content aside from following a few actors in order to sticky beak their outfits and what they’re up to when they show up on my feed (I do not look at their comments section at all for sanity’s sake), and I don’t go on tumblr all that often and when I do it’s not just for fandom purposes (this is a side blog) and as for the fandom content on my feed, I’ve curated it down to people grounded in reality, with rational and (as much as one can be) unbiased takes when talking on serious topics, who often flex their critical thinking muscles and always respect the boundaries of the real people involved, so I’m very often just out of the loop when some “scandal” or discourse happens unless it is big enough that it is the topic of mainstream conversation or the actors address it themselves or through the snippets that make it through my tumblr feed which are mostly just a rational takes in response to some batshit thing they have seen about it so I rarely know what the fucks going on because it’s like a game of telephone or something but Jesus Christ yet another round of people outside my social media bubble once again dogpiling Hudson Williams for no good reason has come to my attention through some recommended tumblr posts discussing it and a few users I follow talking about it in vague snippets.
People need to get a fucking grip in this new age of overactivity online/more of people’s lives being lived online. I swear obsessive parasocialism (and just parasocialism in general tbh) needs to added to the DSM as a symptom of some kind of episodic maladaptive personality disorder and people showing signs of it beyond their teenage years need to have interventions staged and be referred to psychologists, and teenagers who show signs of it need to be monitored to be made sure it’s done in a way that is just the standard teenage idol phase and not a sign of something more insidious. People need connection and they obviously aren’t getting it for some reason or another if they project it onto celebrities, the parasocialism is either a byproduct of not getting that connection irl or through mutual relationships online not dominated by the devotion to these celebrities; or as the cause for them not getting that connection as they expend so much time and brain power on maintaining these one-sided parasocial relationships and have become off-putting rabid stans so divorced from reality who people just don’t want to engage or build meaningful relationships with.
Celebrities are not your friends, you don’t know them and they don’t know you (even if you have met/interacted with them once or twice I guarantee they have forgotten your existence, and if they say they remember you 9 times out 10 they are lying to spare your feelings), you don’t have any sort of relationship with them, you do not have any sort of say over what they do and say and who they have relationships with or not (romantically, platonically or otherwise), they do not owe you anything except basic human decency and (especially for the ultra wealthy ones) to pay their fair share in society and ideally using their huge platforms for social good, nor do you owe them anything beyond basic human decency and the reasonable expectation of privacy. It is deranged and unhealthy to be creating fictional scenarios/personalities in your head that you then project onto these people and if they step a foot out of that which you’ve projected onto them or they get in the way of a made up fantasy/scenario/personality you’ve developed for a different celebrity, you attack them for it and then continue to attack them at every single opportunity, create accounts dedicated to hating them and tearing them down, are straight up just fucking bigoted and hateful toward them or people around them, are so quick to give them lashings and blow up their entire lives and careers for small missteps and mistakes that aren’t even substantiated or proven to have happened or are just shit you learn from on your journey of growing up/being a human being.
Honestly I don’t know where I’m going with all of this but I just needed to vent and articulate some of my thoughts but I guess what I’m trying to say is people are fucked in the head these days and it really is them dang phones lol if this post ever reaches someone who needs a reality check over ANY celebrity whether it’s one they idolise to the point of untouchable deity who they must defend at all cost; or one they loathe for petty/immature parasocial reasons to the point of toxicity and obsessive hate, then hopefully this gave them a good one.

Okay so I was just thinking what’s the probability that Chuck just straight up fucking died after being left stranded and human in the wilderness by Sam and Dean in 15.19 Inherit the Earth.
Where were those woods in canon anyway? cause it seemed pretty far away from civilisation from aerial view from what I remember, and the guy was human now with no food or drinking water. Not to mention the possibility of bears (???) or other man eating animals (???) in those woods.
Anyway it’s infinitely funny to me the idea of Dean making a point to spare Chucks life trying to live up to Cas’ view of him and then imagining like a cut away scene where chuck just gets mauled to death by a bear or spends a week slowly dying of dehydration while trying to find his way out of some wilderness.
Just retired Hollanov going to react poorly in opposite directions. Ilya is going to make big claims about never exercising again then discover after a week his regular weights and cardio routine were a major pillar in standing up his mental health since he was a child.
Shane on the other hand is going to claim there's no reason for his exercise and diet regime to change, then realise without hockey there's no point. One morning he's just going to roll over and tell Ilya he wants to try cocaine.
I feel like sometimes zoomers do not quite appreciate that Hunter kissed Kip on the ice only two years after gay marriage was declared a right in all 50 states. Shane and Ilya were competing for their first time when the entire state of California declared gay marriage unconstitutional
now i'm imagining a world wherein shane and ilya are the kind of famous where they get asked to do guest tv spots and ilya does a cameo in one of the muppet movies and the gag is that he's fucking miss piggy. and kermit walks into her dressing room and ilya's just wrestling with this puppet. you know the way they do in muppet media when there's no puppeteer and they're just pretending to be attacked by the muppet. miss piggy is obviously wearing a muppet-sized rozanov jersey. the musical number ilya appears in is a dr. teeth & the electric mayhem rendition of rasputin by boney m. ilya gets the cold shoulder from kermit the whole time he's there and then halfway through the show kermit is suddenly wearing a muppet sized hollander jersey and a muppet sized gold olympic medal and pulling three muppet sized stanley cups around in a little red wagon. ilya goes home and says to shane "the frog is a fucking asshole" and shane's like "you know he's not real right like there was a guy under the floor with rods making him walk around" and ilya's like what the fuck ever man he was still rude as shit. not sure how else shane could be involved yet but i know there's a fisting joke to be made here. bear with me
general audience: which one is the top and which one is the bottom?
me and my mutuals: which one is the michael sword?
I get how the idea started but I really do think Shane does watch porn and also knows what BDSM and subspace is. Maybe not when he was 19 and winging it but in his twenties? He definitely knows. He's the research guy. He's the Knower. He's gonna keep thinking about it until it makes sense. And Ilya is no idiot either. It's fine if you enjoy un negotiated bdsm but I don't see a reason why they wouldn't figure out some parts at some point.
ppl running with the joke that Shane doesnt watch porn and making it a headcannon is in my opinion very much because ppl think porn = bad, and Shane is the good boy, poster child who can’t do any wrong (he certainly tries to be/has the expectations put upon him , but cmon nobody is, although ppl seem to forget this), but porn isn’t inherently bad and consuming it isn’t a bad thing/doesn’t make you a bad person or some kind of deviant. it’s very revealing to the puritanical nature of ppl these days and their attitudes toward sex/sex work. Also it seems people think kink is something that’s either you don’t do it or you go whole hog and it takes over your sex life, like ppl can dip their toes into it on occasion and then other times have completely vanilla, loved up emotional missionary. It’s not either/or ppl!!
dying for you by charli xcx could literally be cas’ inner monologue re: his feelings for dean in his last moments in 15x18

the FIRST TIME they hook up and ilya is like take off ur clothes and then shane starts awkwardly stripping and ilya's so amused like haha whaaaat he's folding them and then he's like oh shit. wait this really does something for me.
so when ilya asks shane to take off his clothes in vegas. this was PURELY INTENTIONAL. this man was leaning against the wall lazily like he had all the time in the world to watch this. as if shane was putting on a show. his eyes were GLAZED over. there was nothing in that expression but pure heat and desire. this man was waiting for this foreplay and was probably salivating in his head all night. deadass the first thing he asked for when shane walked through the door
I had to find them...
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
I don't think I have the brain cells to articulate this fully but I kind of want to talk about the casual, unintentional biphobia of everyone in the Game Changers universe when it comes to Ilya.
The concept of bisexuality still seems like such a hard thing to grasp for both straights and queers. Bisexuality is either seen as a stepping stone towards admitting you're gay and accepting it (which is a real, lived experience of a lot of gay or lesbian people, no diminishing or denying that) or an impossibility altogether. Being straight being perceived as the default aside, even when someone is publicly known to date the same gender (or what appears to be that) everyone's mind just stops there and it doesn't even occur to them to go further than that and wonder if there's more than monosexuality there. Bisexuality requires extra steps and leaps of logic, almost, and for whatever reason it never seems plausible or like something to even consider. If someone's sexuality is questioned, it's always about whether they're one or the other, but never about if they're both. Even when celebrities perceived as straight exhibit 'queer' behaviours, people still would rather assume they're "hella gay, just hiding it" rather than anything else. At most, they get a "they're at least bisexual, if not".
When it comes to Ilya, both the larger, overwhelmingly cishet public of NHL fans as well as the queer characters Ilya has a personal connection to fall for this unknowingly and without any malicious intent on their parts (at least as far as the latter group is concerned). Because Ilya is very well known to have engaged in sexual relations with women, especially in a way that is undeniable and unable to be chalked up to faking it to keep up appearances, people don't really stop to think if there is anything more there. Even when there are signs.
Ilya shows up at Scott Hunter night and dances with gay men without showing discomfort. He shows up at the Kingfisher to hang out with Scott and Eric on the regular. He even brings Troy along. Everyone looks sideways at him for these actions and behaviours, finding it unexpected and strange, wondering what's up with that. Yet none of them ever stop to think, "Could it be he's one of us?"
Characters like Scott and Eric of all people should be familiar with the concept of being closeted and keeping things close to their chest for safety reasons, yet the protective wall of perceived heterosexuality works so well that their minds never consider that there might be something more behind the curtain. Not even Eric, who he himself is bisexual, ever stops to question things further despite the signs of something more going on between Ilya and Shane, all because of that projection of heterosexuality.
I don't know exactly where I'm going with this, what conclusion I'm trying to reach because my own feelings are all tangled up with this and I can't properly articulate them all. I don't know if this was a deliberate choice from Rachel or if her own internalised biphobia (because that's what it is, at the end of the day, even if it's a normalised way of thinking and not willfully malicious in nature) is shining through in these characters. But there's something about Ilya noticing things about every queer around him (aside from Scott), seeing the signs and the various attractions and pining going on and clocking everyone's tea instantaneously while his own identity remains hidden until he has to explicitly tell people, "I am more than what you perceive."
There is something about people looking at his public sexual history and thinking, "There is no way that guy could ever be gay. He's not like us. He's just an ally." I speak from experience when I say that stuff like that can feel very alienating and I feel like it's a very real thing that many bisexuals often feel Othered in the LGBT community.
This isn't me dragging Shane for anything but even he exhibits the kind of biphobic thinking that is so easy to fall into when he says things like, "You could have someone else. You could marry a woman. It would be easier. I don't have that choice." Of course, the narrative and the story quickly corrects that assumption and makes it clear that actually, no, Ilya couldn't and he doesn't have a choice either, because you don't choose who you love and who makes you happy. You can choose who you take home for the night when you're out at a bar, sure - whether to pick up a guy or a girl or whoever - and you can choose to limit yourself to trying to date only from the opposite gender pool for safety reasons (and make yourself miserable in the process by denying yourself access to your whole identity), but that doesn't guarantee happiness. It's just as likely that you'll spend your entire life searching for love and never find it because your future lies elsewhere, or you could settle for something that works but never quite fits.
Part of the reason why Ilya is so miserable is because he cannot be who he is and admit it to the people close to him, who matter to him outside of Shane and Co. It hurts that people cheer for Troy, as much as he is genuinely happy for him, because he is still denied his truth.
It is true that he cannot come out as bisexual because then his entire house of cards with Shane would collapse - but that is precisely yet another example of biphobia at work. When people assume Ilya is straight because he hasn't said otherwise, his relationship with Shane doesn't raise any eyebrows - their closeness, their work together at the foundation, Ilya's move to Ottawa. But as soon as Troy is told that Ilya isn't straight, suddenly dots are connecting. Suddenly it makes sense. Why? Because Ilya's public perception is aggressively heterosexual, hypersexual cis male and so it never occurs to anyone that his behaviour around Shane could be more than friendship or mutual respect. When JJ takes a look at Shane's relationship with Ilya with the knowledge of Shane being gay in mind, all the signs present lead his mind to conclude that Shane is experiencing an unrequited crush on a straight man. The possibility of anything being reciprocated on Ilya's side doesn't exist. How could he be attracted to men, after all? Look at all the women he's fucked in the past. Nevermind that he hasn't been publicly seen with anyone for years now.
Biphobia, paradoxically, works both for and against Ilya heartbreakingly well. It protects their secret so wonderfully because no one would ever guess Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander are together, but it also forces Ilya to stay in the closet in order to protect that secret even if he'd feel comfortable with sharing his sexuality with people like the Centaurs or Harris or the queer hockey men while still keeping his relationship with Shane hidden. He is denied community because being himself would mean outing what he and Shane are trying to protect.
I'm not throwing stones at anyone and this isn't a rant, just more of an observation and analysis from my own experiences and feelings surrounding Ilya's bisexuality. I find myself in a similar situation even if he and I are on opposites end of the spectrum - I have never been with anyone so I have no dating history to be used as reference but most people would either think I'm straight or a lesbian, with or without proof of leaning towards either; very few people would guess at bisexuality or even realise it's an option. So I felt the need to finally try to organise these observations and thoughts into an analysis of sorts, I guess.
OH WE ARE ALL GOING TO HELL EVERYONE STRAP ON
