Hi guys! This is a sideblog for my spinoff of @actualalligator’s Just A Little AU. In my ‘verse Maddie is also a little (teen/little-leaning-switch) and joins the family in season two when she comes to LA.

Gator has been kind enough to let me play in her sandbox, and I owe her a huge thank you. <3

If you’ve somehow found this blog before reading her fic and you like NSAP/Littles Are Known AUs, I definitely recommend going and giving it a read. (The original AU is a BDSM-classification ‘verse as well, but because I’m more familiar with the Little/Neutral/Big aspect of classification AUs, that’s gonna be the primary focus here.)

I’m excited to talk about this with you guys, but just so you know before hopping into the askbox:

I love talking about ideas for this ‘verse—but I can’t guarantee all of them will make it into a fic. It’s not that I don’t want to guarantee prompt fills; I just don’t have any control over when (or if) inspiration will strike, or how long it will take me to write something if it does. (For reference, the Christmas epilogue fic took several months.) I’d rather not have anybody just sitting in line waiting for something that might take ages, so it’ll be more like idea tennis than anything else. If something sparks a fic or drabble, I’ll definitely run with it! (And I’ll let you know.) Just please don’t take it personally if nothing comes of it. It’s not you, it’s my muse being finicky.

I tend to use a lot of em dashes. I swear it’s not an AI thing—I just think it’s less confusing than having several sets of commas or parentheses in a sentence. (I hate that I even have to say that, but apparently this is some kind of AI red-flag now. They can pry my overuse of — from my cold, dead hands; I’ve never used AI to write and never will.)

i think because of the whole "writers write for themselves" notion that's becoming increasingly popularized, people forget that we still thrive off interaction and kindness. i write for myself but kudos and comments and bookmarks and really any sort of interaction with my fics genuinely motivates me to keep writing and keep sharing my works.

my problem is if i enjoy something enough i will be nitpicking. i Will have things to say about where and how it failed. out of nothing but love straight from my heart. unfortunately this often makes me indistinguishable from a hater who has never experienced joy or kindness. such is the amateur critic's burden.

I say this as both an author and someone who has been in fandom for a long time (15+ years): I do not trust the AO3 'Claude AI detector' skin. In fact, I will never trust any future "proof of AI" tools. Why? Because it's impossible to 100% know if someone used AI in any capacity.

I am anti-genAI, especially in creative fandom spaces, but I'm even bigger against witch hunts and harassment. Because that's all what this "exposed authors" document list (and future lists) is going to do. It doesn't matter if there's a big disclaimer about NOT attacking the people listed. The internet will do what the internet does nowadays and backstab anyone they deem unworthy, especially toward ones that they've been given the greenlight to attack. The obsession and paranoia about wanting to make sure that every single fandom creation is not made with AI is, quite frankly, getting out of fucking hand. No, I don't want to read AI works. But I don't have enough time in the day or much less the ability to care about checking. If I suspect something is amiss, I'll just do the fandom of old: Don't Like, Don't Read. Don't Like? Don't Engage. Hit the back button.

No one owes anything to anyone. No photo proof. No video proof. No screenshots or anything else.

Lastly: Instead of calling out authors who might be using AI to help them create, why not encourage the use of non-AI resources? Writers Helping Writers. An old fashioned thesaurus. Word Hippo. And so much more that is out there, which some people may not even be aware about.

This “detector” has already been proven to show false positives. It’s crap. It’s fear mongering and witch hunt inciting.

There are people out there using grammarly to edit their work because English might not be their first language, or they don’t know enough people to find a beta, or they’re dyslexic, or god knows how many other reasons.

There are people out there who are on the spectrum and their written work reads like ChatGPT because that’s how their brain works. There are people out there who are so goddamn skilled at what they do, others struggle to believe it’s real.

Do you know who else was like that? Michelangelo. Do you know *how many people* have stood in front of the statue of David and thought *how the fuck did any human create that?*

There are soo many telented people out there who are infinitely better than you, be it written word or drawn image, or hell, even a photoshopped picture. Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean it’s impossible to do.

Stop adding to the witch hunts. Stop trying to cancel people loudly.

If you don’t like it, don’t read it.

It costs nothing to be kind.

i just know that maddie will send chimney to the store with a meticulously curated list (she’s a buckley) but she knows it’s a losing battle because chim will take jee with him and she’ll get excited by ice cream!!! cake!! toys!!! pink!!!! which flair up chimney’s dad of all time instincts. so they both come home with maybe 3/4 of the list. but an additional few times that jee’s just so excited for her mommy to see. and when maddie gets all mock stern, the twinkle in her eyes betraying her, chimney will whip out a bouquet of flowers he’d been hiding behind his back and say something cheesy like, they’re almost as beautiful as you. this happens every week btw.
