Sometimes when I'm having a shitty day at work and another unit calls up to my floor, I answer by saying "Well hey there [unit]! How are you doing today?" In the cheeriest tone I have. Thusfar everyone is surprised, they are usually good, and almost forget why they called.

Go ahead, take your insulin when you're in school and out with your friends. It may not seem like a big deal to skip out, but it can hurt you in the long run.
Your friends don't mind that you need to take insulin or your oral hypoglycemic. They will mind if you don't and you eventually need an amputation, or dialysis, or go blind.

Yes we need our food groups. Diet culture isn’t trying to say “don’t eat the necessary nutrients you need to survive.” It’s saying “If you eat 4,000 calories a day and most of it is fats and carbs and your body needs about 2,000 calories, including vitamins, minerals, greens, fats, carbs, dairy, and grains, then you should adjust your food intake (both quality and quantity) so as to make sure your body is healthy.”

Your body needs carbs. However! It needs complex carbs: pastas, breads, and the like. Simple carbs are unhealthy and don't properly feed the cells because they are broken down too quickly. Sugars are fine, but you don't need processed sugars. Fruit sugar is ok. Honey is ok. Milk is ok. Sugar from a bag, not so much.
You need fruit. You need veggies. You need carbs.
Do not just allow for your body to break fats down for energy! That is how people can get kidney injuries, if too much fat is broken down, the kidneys cannot handle it and they shut down.
You need protein in your diet. You do not, however, need it to come 100% from meat. This is how your body makes proteins necessary for your systems to work.
Fats are important to our diets as well. You need fat. You DON'T need to get it eating a stick of butter. There are healthy fats that you need to have. Again, fat needs can change with diseases and disorders that may call for more.
Some people who are very active need 3000 calorie diets. People who are not active do not always need that many (different dieases and disorders can modify caloric needs).
AS WITH ALL THINGS THAT RELATE TO YOUR BODY: ASK YOUR PRIMARY CARE MD/NP. They look at your labs, at your physical and mental health, and can decide what kind of things you should include in your diet and exercise.
Fad diets do not account for people with Celiac's, Dumping syndrome, IBS, diabetes, prediabetes, people with cancer, or metabolic disorders. Fad diets can kill if you don't pay attention to your body.
What works for celebs may not work for you. What worked for your friend Karen may not work for you. You are different, your body works different. Eat what you need, not what someone else needs. That's why dieticians have a job, why they went to school.

Guys, she finally played with another dog the other day. Normally she would just sit and watch other dogs play. But she actually went for it. Happy puppy mama right here. My dog is the one on the bottom. She's a good girl.
So I tried to buy beer in Indiana...
So I tried to buy beer in IN. Load up the cart, have about 6 cases of beer. Great!
Get to the checkout and the lady looks at me and says I cannot buy all that beer. They cannot sell us that much alcohol at one time.
In Wisconsin you can have a train of carts filled with booze go through a checkout.
I was baffled.
Went to put back half the beer so we could buy some of the beer.
Spent the rest of the day cranky (just ask the BF)

Let's be honest
My step sister told my neice (3 years old) not to touch my phone while I showed her pictures of my dog. This because her fingers were sticky with cookie and spit.
But let's be honest.
I do the same thing, so my phone is used to it. All hail the sticky cookie screen!!
Visiting family in Wisconsin this weekend. Visited my old doggo today. She's a smelly old good girl. She also loves @roughlyhewnvegetable more than she loves me. But I got to be under a 76 pound mountain of dog today, not him.
