Reminder
Somewhere out there is a person with your name, except it’s spelled with a “y” and they just can’t figure out why you don’t spell your name right.
I was just sitting in my house minding my business
i am the person who spells a common name with a y, your suffering is delicious to me
sorry i am incoherent with amusement imagining the day i finally meet “brydget”
Am I crazy for kind of loving “Sym”?
Y'all I bought a switch as a reward for 40 hours of overtime in the last two weeks and this is my first console since PLAY. STATION. 2.
Excuse me while i absolutely flip out over the newest episode of Old Gods of Apalachia
Seriously y'all. Listen to it.

STOP ICE FROM POISONING IMMIGRANTS!
Help stop the gassing of Immigrants!!
We need to do more than sign a petition. Don't shut up about this.
Hey, followers?
Don't scroll past this.
There are people in the notes saying this isn’t a gassing and it’s “just” a disinfectan0 being sprayed on surfaces to avoid covid, and people are “just” having allergic reactions to it
https://dandymeowth.tumblr.com/post/619934243092561920/your-url-is-problematic-odddior-i-know
That post explains better what this chemical is and what is going on.
“The guards are spraying this disinfectant in retaliation for the report [that revealed the deplorable health conditions in detention centers]. To be clear - HDQ is an industrial-strength disinfectant, which according to the manufacturer is “harmful if inhaled” and “causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage.” The guards are spraying it on everything every 15-30 minutes, according to sources, and immigrants in the center have already experienced severe symptoms including blisters, rashes, bleeding, fainting, breathing difficulties, headaches, stomach pain, and nausea. “
It’s not just allergic reactions. That’s a severe misunderstanding of what disinfectants do and a refusal to acknowledge how serious this is and WHY people are freaking out.
No, they’re not literally being gassed in the grandiose (gore-iose?) way you’d think of - being shoved into an iron chamber like animals that then is filled with gas that melts their skin... But they are still being forced to into small areas with harmful fumes and surfaces covered in chemicals that are made to eat living matter.
If you had to be in a room for days and weeks with bleach or peroxide all over everything, you don’t need to be allergic to start having severe reactions. Cleaning chemicals say to use protective gear and ventilate the area for a REASON.
This is really not okay. It wasn’t okay before, and now it’s worse than it was.
I work as a university custodian. This is the chemical we’re using to sanitize surfaces we’ve cleaned due to coronavirus. We’re not supposed to spray it directly on any surfaces. We spray it onto a cloth and then wipe surfaces with it. It’s supposed to dry before people come into contact with those surfaces. Once it dries on water fountains it’s rinsed off (I don’t know if it actually does anything to rinse it off when it’s already dried but that’s the procedure - we have to let it dry to make sure it’s had enough time to kill virus particles). That’s in university buildings with extra ventilation that are sanitized twice a day. This is horrifying.

fun funeral facts
embalming, the process of chemically preserving a corpse, is typically not required by law. unless you need to transport the body long-distance or postpone the burial, it’s 100% a vanity thing.
a body still rots in air-tight conditions. so “protective” or “sealed” caskets are basically a scam, and anything fancy like metal is a waste of money.
want a beautiful casket for a viewing, but think burning or burying an expensive piece of hardwood is a waste of money and trees? rentals exist.
you don’t need a coffin for cremation. the minimum requirement is that the body be in a “cremation container,” which is a simple cardboard box.
home funerals are an option. you don’t need to hand the body over to a funeral home, and you can keep their involvement to a minimum.
natural burial sites exist. you can have your unembalmed body straight up thrown in the dirt to be tree food, if you want.
there are a lot of funeral homes that will prey on your ignorance and vulnerability in order to get as much money out of you as possible. they may imply optional certain services are legally mandatory, steer you away from cheaper options, charge additional costs for what’s supposed to be all-inclusive services, etc.
one person’s death is another person’s profit. know your rights, do your research, and apply the same scrutiny you would to any other business.
For those of you interested, the youtube channel Ask A Mortician does a lot of videos on taboo death subjects, answers questions and is a huge advocate for natural burials and being present during the actual funeral process so you don’t get taken advantage of by the funeral industry. She’s one of my favourite youtubers and I highly recommend her videos.
people: there’s a faerie knight hanging around Carterhaugh forest who takes the virginity of young women janet: oh hey I’ve just remembered I have some very important roses to pick in Carterhaugh, brb
i think about this a lot
The guy got his life and career destroyed by his divorce, cut him some slack.
he was also sexually assaulted by a man who could destroy his career
protect him
reblog if the man on the right is just as beautiful as the man on the left
people grow old? like, that’s a thing that happens? leave my guy alone.
This man deserves everything let him he happy
Ok… This is what happened to Fraser
-His wife ditched him and asked for 900k a year,
-He was sexually assaulted which he said kicked him into a deep depression
-He stated that the stunts from the 3rd Mummy movie completely destroyed his body and he was in and out of the hospital for 7 years even having to get surgery to repair his vocal cords.
-He apparently blamed himself for all this which only worsened his depression.
This man has literally been through hell this past decade so please lets cut him some slack and wish him the best
All this but also that picture on the right is a really bad paparazzi photo compared with a professional quality movie promo still. No one looks good when some random person snaps you on the street, regardless of who you are.
Compare with this image from the GQ article last February:
Proper lighting, professional setting, good angles etc.
The dude is 49 and has had a rough couple of decades, but he’s still lovely to look at, and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.
Plus, now he’s in Doom Patrol, which makes me happy af.
And let’s not forget he was probably slightly to severely dehydrated to look that buff in he first photo. And I’m so pleased he got work again he seems like a good sort, and from the stealth pilot in Titans, Doom Patrol looks like it should be good.
It shouldn’t even matter what he’s been through. Body shaming of ANYONE is wrong.
ALL OF THIS
Plus
2019 Brendan is still slaying, so btfu
This post keeps getting better and I’m here for it
I love this whole thread
The last time I saw this it was only at the first ‘cut him some slack’ part and it just progressively gets better each time.
We support this Brendan Fraser in this home
I’ll say it again, the blue sweater photo in the OP was chosen because it was the most unflattering photo of him from that day. It’s a hatchet job! The same day:
I mean, look at this adorable face:
he looks like a really kind dad who would give good hugs and watch rubbish movies with me
I am 100% here for Dad Bod!Brendan Fraser.
5 Stretches to Relieve Neck and Shoulder Tension
for better or worse i’ve recently realized that self care, for me personally, sometimes means extra effort instead of less. like making my bed every day makes me feel good about my living space even though it’s a couple minutes of work, and plating my food nicely makes me feel like i’ve made and eaten a nice meal even if it means cleaning more dishes. i used to think self care was almost synonymous with making things easier for yourself, but sometimes challenging yourself a little tiny bit more than usual is more rewarding than doing it the easiest way, although that isn’t true for everyone, i know, it’s just how things have turned out for me
i made a 2-part uquiz called Which Shakespeare character are you? and it has 50 possible results. The first quiz puts you into one of 5 groups and links you to the group quiz that has 10 different characters each. Tag your results. :)
the funniest part of this is seeing people in the tags who want to get hamlet and get something from a play they’ve never read and they’re like UMM IM EMO??? i HAVE to be HAMLET idk who Edmund even is and I’m like… sweetie…. you’re Edmund….
The idea of ‘Feral Scientist’ is just so Fucking Funny to me, like ‘i just found this dude on the side of the road muttering about quantum physics is it rabid’ like thats just any scientist
Adopt, don’t buy! In the current environment of anti-intellectualism and austerity, many labs are simply abandoning their scientists. These strays are full of love for the right home! They might be timid and shy at first, but show them some love and before you know it they’ll be curled up in your lap telling you about their research. You’ll never find a friend as dedicated and loyal as a rescue scientist.
But please be aware that certain species of archaeologists, geologists, and palaeontologists can and do thrive in the wild! Some may enjoy being adopted into a loving home but others are best left feral, as they cannot be fully house-trained and will insist on bringing dirt and mysterious rocks into your home on a near-daily basis.
Also, if you do decide to adopt an archeologist, please make sure it has ample dirt to dig in and a trowel.
My roommate gave me this
She is a responsible archaeologist caretaker
Please note that Astronomers and most Physicist species are nocturnal.
Botanists and agronomists require routine and regular exercise, suited best as working scientists in rural areas.
Social Sciences species do well in pairs and but are prone to anxiety. Be mindful with small children as loud noises can startle them.
To offer sufficient enrichment for Geologists, I recommend sandboxes with items to find (not the same as a litterbox.)
😂 😂 😂 I’m pretty sure I can find some botanists in my deep backyard
PSA: if you get a biologist, please be sure you have the right equipment for the type of biology that they specialize in! A lot of people get a basic “biologist care kit” at a store and expect it to be a one-size-fits-all, and that’s simply not the case. Microbiologists prefer indoor habitats with lots of microscopes, and need a steady supply of agar. Herpetologists require several terrariums for enrichment and need lots of warm sunlight, or some other heat source. Ichthyologists need at least a decent-sized aquarium, but thrive the most with regular trips to rivers, ponds, lakes, and/or beaches. Do your research before blindly adopting a “biologist”, as there are a wide variety of unique species under that category!
Most linguists are generally OK if you keep them fed with a steady supply of data, but each linguist has their own particular tastes, resulting in massively varying costs for upkeep. Syntacticians will generally be happy with data that’s easy to get hold of from the likes of English, Italian or Mandarin, and don’t mind relatively confined environments, so they’re fairly cheap. Child Language Acquisition specialists are often pricier, since the data they like is generally sold at a premium since it needs to be harvested from young speakers. Be especially careful with Language Documentation specialists, though, since they will generally respond badly to anything less than data from the rarest languages from the furthest corners of the globe, and are highly prone to wandering off if not provided with such.
there is still no consensus on whether research engineers are their own species or merely subspecies of other scientists, as often their habits and habitats may closely resemble those of the scientists of another discipline–mechanical engineers, for example, often resemble physicists; chemical engineers closely resemble chemists, etc. a good way to tell the difference is the amount of theoretical background your suspected research engineer is interested in. if you offer the opportunity to delve more deeply into theory at the cost of time spent on application, the physicist will usually accept the opportunity gladly, whereas the mech engineer will likely hiss at you and raise their hackles. mechanical engineers also require habitat enrichment–in the absence of machine components to tinker with, mechanical engineers will fidget with absolutely anything and may begin to dismantle things in their environments or get hopelessly tangled in cables.
Herpetologist are a social breed and find enrichment in being taken on outings to interact with other herpetologists. However, it is not uncommon for one to prefer the company of reptiles and amphibians to humans. Similar to cats, a herpetologist will happily sit outside for long periods of time watching lizards run around.
Going off of the life cycle of the enginner, the young start positively nocturnal, and as they age, they switch to a diurnal sleep schedule.
In addition, its been found that enginners benefit greatly from CAD software, such as NX, Solid works, Inventor, etc. Its good to have as a supplemental for your enginner.
Please remember to give your mathematicians a good scientific calculator, Casio for preference, and plenty of paper and pens. They also benefit from scientific computing software such as Maple or MATLAB and a whiteboard.
Applied mathematicians may need additional material for enrichment. This depends entirely on their field though, similar to biologists.
A word of warning as well; statisticians enjoy games of chance but respond negatively to gambling. With things like the lottery they may become angry, but with a game like blackjack they may show addictive behaviour. Either way you need to avoid gambling.
Other notes:
The presence of Matlab may cause an adverse reaction by many of the larvae state enginners, accompanied by shrieking and wailing
Do not allow young enginners anywhere near it
Please remember to let your astronomers and astrophysicists outside at night so we can view the stars regularly or else we will grow cranky and/or depressed!
I’m sorry, I can’t come into work today. I didn’t get a long rest and god gave me a point of exhaustion. All my skill checks are at disadvantage.
concept: chaotic academia
it’s not as pretty and put together as dark academia
you’re wearing two cardigans, mismatched socks and some jeans that are bordering on “just about clean enough”. nothing will stand between you and your next cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate and adding extra sugar.
emptying your pockets at the end of the day and coming to a total of four pens, a pocket notebook, two receipts, and a highlighter.
your hair keeps falling in your face. you use a rubber band to tie it back. your fringe falls in your face. a paperclip is used to keep it back for the next ten minutes. you probably need a haircut.
the floor is the best place to study. there are so many books and pages of notes scattered around that the carpet can’t be seen anymore.
a rush before you leave class. your ID? got it. keys? got them. wait, where did your ID go again..? did you put your phone in your backpack or in any of the nine pockets on your person.
trash is piled up neatly in the corner, ready to be put into a rubbish bag and taken out. you’ll do it tomorrow, you say. you said the exact same thing last week.
you’re typing and you miss a letter. you go back to fix it. you miss a different letter. you go back to fix it. somehow you have fewer letters than you started with. you take it as a sign to take a break.
it’s time for a quick break. half an hour later you realise that you still haven’t gone back to work. Whoops.
i think my saddest moment as an Australian was finding out that the rest of the world doesn’t say “never eat soggy weetbix” to figure out the order of the compass
Put in the tags where you’re from and how you memorized the order of the compass
