jensen ackles himself didn't like that ending. he had to process it and even talk to multiple people about how it didn't fit dean and dean deserved better. he was then told he played dean as himself too much and needed to look at it from a fans perspective...well jensen was right. the ending was not good and dean did deserve so much better.

I just dont understand it. Why would they fucking sabotage their own show like that. They literally acknowledged in this very season that an ending without castiel is bullshit. They KNOW what the majority of fans wanted and that wasnt it. So why do that then??? Why fucking erase all of the character development and the relationships that sam and dean have formed with other people just for some shitty ending catering to the bronlies? What about cas and jack, who have literally been living in the bunker for several years? Why the FUCK did they make castiel sacrifice himself only to kill dean 2 episodes later? What about eileen, who has made sam happier than we've seen him for several seasons? Why give us the love confession if they were just going to fuck us over? Why the "you made it loud" line from The Empty, making it seem like we were gonna explore that as a plot point? I need to get drunk i hate this i cant deal with this

the fact that they not only killed dean off early in the episode but did it in the way that completely contrasts his character arc and development. he always thought he'd go down swinging and that's exactly why he shouldn't have, because the blaze of glory speech was always a defense to hide his fear, because he shouldn't have to cater to his father's ideas, because the whole point of the season was defying destiny and yet here he is, fulfilling the one event he always believed he was destined for.
