All of them please
In the time I have spent consuming media that involves popular bad™ male characters and/or M/F ships where the male character is morally gray or outright evil or conflicted or basically anyone who isn't completely safe and defanged, I have often comes across this statement and its countless other variations.
"Stuff like this is made to brainwash young girls into thinking that they can 'fix' dangerous men. Such girls usually end up in abusive relationships and their parents are right to worry."
It is rather strange to come across such a gross generalization, operating on an assumption that girls are blank slates whom anyone can manipulate and who can't distinguish between real and make believe on top of it.
In my entire "career"(if you can call it that) of engaging with fiction , the girls and women that I have run into in fandoms happened to be some of the most intelligent, talented, cool, witty and insightful people I have ever met. I've devoured the fics they have written. I have delighted in the arts and edits they've made. Their perspectives and interpretations about the characters and their relationships are genuinely fascinating to read about regardless of whether I agree with it or not. They are the ones who are most often at the receiving end of the antis' ire for no valid reason but they just keep deriving joy and inspiration from their favourite characters and ships and keep sharing it with others through stories, art and thoughts. They are not just smart but incredibly resilient, sensitive and aware not just about the media they consume but about the world around them and its issues.
I look up to their brilliance. I marvel at their passion. I admire them. I adore them.
my thesis
FUCKING THANK YOU I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS! It’s especially creepy when men say this about adult women too! I can understand the concern with little girls/young teens but I remember the moral panic around Fifty Shades of Grey being so weird. It’s an awful book worthy of a lot of criticism but all the men online acting like this book was the reason women were in abusive relationships was so weird…
i mean this from the bottom of my heart: no one is impressed by your loud ass car. actually we talked about it and we all want you dead.
this is from the 2000’s btw
Looks like @staff mistakenly censored this comic, which is an ironic and very funny thing to happen
Here it is again. You might want to save it just in case an accident like that happens again
EDIT: HMM. LOOKS LIKE OP WAS BANNED TOO. WHAT A FUNNY. IRONIC. ACCIDENT
was thinking about how the concept of god is usually characterized as male (thanks patriarchy) and i came up with a question: in christian theology,
does "God" have a penis?
surely the catholic church made some sort of ruling on this
stop derailing with Jesus's foreskin, this post is about God's genitals ONLY
Hi, Catholic here—the only part of the holy trinity with a human body is the Son (Jesus) so yes, but also God the Father doesn’t have a human body so no, but the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all the same being as well so yes, but all humans including women are created in the image of God so hypothetically He has everything else too. Hope this helps.
thank you it did not!
When I was little and believed in god I thought god was a woman because to me God was a feminine-sounding name and I made a lot of people mad when I told them that...
When you try to talk about enshittification, it sounds like conspiracy theories. (I'm not crazy)
Amazon made their service worse, to force people to pay for Prime.
Nowadays, if you order from Amazon, there is a week long delay before your package is shipped. (on purpose)
I remember when orders would ship out the same day. (I remember - it was real)
YouTube didn't used to have ads. Now, ads play in the middle of videos. (it's worse than TV ever was)
The best can opener I have owned is over 40 years old. Modern ones just don't hold up as well. (The ones I bought new broke ages ago)
The bread machine my mom got for her wedding lasted 30 years. It's been replaced twice in the last 5 years. (How can you fuck this up?)
The cardboard tubes in the middle of toilet paper rolls have gotten larger. (This too?) Companies increasing the price of the product while selling you less. (REALLY?)
It sounds crazy. (it's the truth) When you talk about it, YOU sound crazy. (it's true)
Even when people believe you (do they really), all they can say is "it sucks". (it's too big) Because the problem is so big, so pervasive, what can we even DO about it???
To get the necessary laws written and passed, we need politicians, to get the politicians elected we need information campaigns, to fund campaigns we need money, and all the money is being hoarded by the people profiting from enshittification. (it sounds so fake)
So I talk about enshittification (it sounds crazy), so people don't forget that things have been made worse on purpose (it's true), even though I sound crazy. (maybe I am)
the issue with growing up in the 2000s and 2010s was like there was this really big push toward "accepting your weirdness" overall but they meant like idk wearing mismatched socks or something not being tangibly beyond the norm in any way shape or form
Still true today too. But yes, I remember growing up every school counselor having some kind of merchandise that said something like "be a unicorn in a world of horses" or some other picture depicting an animal that stood out in the crowd. While some tried to be nice, a lot of them were really judgemental and dismissive towards my feelings and perspective. I remember being vulnerable and showing one of them gory vent art and they had a religious panic and were mad at me when I told them me and my family were atheist/agonist and didn't go to church.
Overall, the sentiment boiled down to: "feel free to be a quirky consumer! Buy all the funko pops that you want! Just please don't actually question or challenge the status quo, or express your culture/identity in a way that makes cisnormative hetronormative financially comfortable whites feel excluded or threatened."
How is bnha anime of the decade...... they aren’t even anime of the hour of the minute of the second
The notes on this post were so toxic that staff just axed em
1969.........
Yes, when the original post is deleted from the server (not just the blog, but the Tumblr servers), there is no root post for notes to be added onto, and also no root post for time to be counted from, so it starts from zero. Most computer operating systems use Unix, which was launched in 1971 with t.he epoch date of midnight on January 1, 1970 as 1. Therefore zero is one second behind that date: December 31, 1969. Also, very unfortunately, this also means nobody except you and anyone you reblog it to will see this explanation, as you cannot open the notes to see comments when there are no notes.
Tumblr is truly one of the webbed sites ever
ohmg
post's haunted.
being anti-amatonormativity in a romance centered world is like watching half the people you know put all their eggs in one basket and then drop the basket and all their eggs break and they’re crying and swearing they’re never gonna do that again and then a month later they have all new eggs in a new basket and they tell you the problem was they didn’t have a strong enough basket or fresh enough eggs and then they drop the fucking basket again.
posts with fake songs i can imagine so perfectly it’s like they were real
best case scenario Digital Circus gets remembered in a similar way as Steven Universe: a show that was Really Fucking Good and had nuanced characters and interesting things to say, but the audience wasn't quite ready for it and it imploded into a discourse ball. four years from now I expect to see lesbians drawing Jax like she's a renaissance muse the same way people still draw Pearl or Lapis
If you're comfortable accusing anyone of faking disability, you're not a real ally to disabled people
One time when I was a kid a group of girls and I had to treat another student for hypothermia by ourselves because she had so many invisible health issues that the adults we asked for help didn't believe us. The student in question was actively hallucinating. When I finally ran for help the people I grabbed were slow as shit to respond, casually joking about how "dramatic" the person in question was.
The kid was picked up by an ambulance 30 minutes later.
Now as an adult working in security I get SO MANY folks- upper-middle aged mostly- coming to me to 'rat out' people they think are faking it.
I was once sent into a bathroom because a client demanded that the "fucker won't get out, so go drag them out"- I was NEVER going to do that, so I did a wellness check instead. You know who it was? A person recently released from the hospital after a car accident. They had a hole in their skull and major hearing loss. They couldn't answer the owner because they couldn't HEAR the owner.
Another time about a homeless man who got around town by kicking the ground from his wheelchair. "You know he doesn't actually need that thing, his legs work fine, it's just for pity points"- Oh, so he's not paralyzed, his wheelchair is performative? Funny story Dale, I actually know that guy, he was backed over by a truck and has chronic pain from his shattered pelvis. But sure, let's make him stand up and walk everywhere so nobody feels too bad for him and tries to help him or something.
"She doesn't need that scooter, I've seen her get out of it."
"Look how fat he is, because he just rides around and refuses to get up."
"She doesn't really need that cane- she comes here without it all the time"
Sincerely, truly, from the bottom of my heart- as someone who isn't physically disabled but hears this shit all the time- fuck off
between the mikeyway “all of warped tour and half of new jersey” bracelets, gerard throwing out bracelets in keposhka, and the OFFICIAL frank iero dogboy shirt, my chemical romance is sending us a message that they’re watching us watch them and they’re watching us back and i feel more in danger than i’ve ever felt in my life. in my LIFE
“The making of the perfect frontman”
based on the guy buffet painting
I hated that people were cheering at this moment :(
oh THIS crowd understands. they cheered so loud when gerard took off the jacket and they booed for the dictator and they booed the jacket being forced back on!! texas i didn't know you were chill like that!
this post apparently assembled the entirety of the texas mcr fanbase and i want to say something to all of you: you are who this tour is for. you know exactly what the fascist administration of DRAAG and the grand immortal dictator represent because you are living at the front lines. but you scream and boo and cheer and make your voices heard because YOU are the ones who are not afraid to keep on living. they will never take YOU alive. every queer person and person of color and immigrant and every person who refuses to be crushed by a tyrannical government. we see your fight, and you're not alone. whether it's in a concert livestream or a nationwide protest---we're right beside you. fucking yeehaw!!!!!
I really wish Chicago was like that, I think a lot of the audience where drunk/high just looking for a good time so they just cheered for anything happening at all :( I don't think anyone was paying attention when Gerard said the vote was for an execution (I didn't get a sign rip) so most people said YEA.
I was the main person doing the booing during the facist dystopia moments.
