Please stick to ONE TASK, brain!!
🧠: No. :)
It's such an amazing feeling when someone picks up on something in your writing that you 100% intended but didn't think people would notice. Like, YES!! My writing properly conveyed the thing it was supposed to!!! You are so awesome for noticing that!!! I am so awesome for writing that!!! I feel so good about my story now!!!!
I graduated college in 2019, and it was such a stressful time, I don't think I took a moment to be grateful for academia. I met some amazing people (not only friends but mentors and notable people in my field), and I miss it.
I should have picked a different major. My passion has always been writing, and it always will be. Instead, I chose a field that "makes money," and I didn't have much guidance as a first-generation college student.
I'm filling the academic void now, at 28, by pursuing my writing dreams. I've written short stories for years, and I write poetry. I have about 4 novels that I want to be completed and self-published by the end of 2025. It's an ambitious feat but I believe i can do it if I carve out enough time while balancing my full-time job.
I'm done wasting my writing potential.
I hate it when my writing groove goes away. Like I was doing so good for a little while, writing almost every day, and now I just stare at my blank document, wondering how to start writing my next chapter. And what sucks is it's not like I don't have ideas, I just don't know how to make them good in word form. If only my fic could write itself 😂🙃
started a new writing project. I. the worms they. aaaaarrrgghhh

Show, don’t tell
"Show, don’t tell" means letting readers experience a story through actions, senses, and dialogue instead of outright explaining things. Here are some practical tips to achieve that:
1. Use Sensory Details
Tell: "The room was cold."
Show: "Her breath puffed in faint clouds, and she shivered as frost clung to the edges of the window."
Tell: "He was scared."
Show: "His hands trembled, and his heart thudded so loudly he was sure they could hear it too."
2. Focus on Actions
Tell: "She was angry."
Show: "She slammed the mug onto the counter, coffee sloshing over the rim as her jaw clenched."
Tell: "He was exhausted."
Show: "He stumbled through the door, collapsing onto the couch without even bothering to remove his shoes."
3. Use Dialogue
What characters say and how they say it can reveal their emotions, intentions, or traits.
Tell: "She was worried about the storm."
Show: "Do you think it'll reach us?" she asked, her voice tight, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt.
4. Show Internal Conflict Through Thoughts or Reactions
Tell: "He was jealous of his friend."
Show: "As his friend held up the trophy, he forced a smile, swallowing the bitter lump rising in his throat."
5. Describe the Environment to Reflect Mood
Use the setting to mirror or hint at emotions or themes.
Tell: "The town was eerie."
Show: "Empty streets stretched into the mist, and the only sound was the faint creak of a weathered sign swinging in the wind."
6. Let Readers Infer Through Context
Give enough clues for the reader to piece things together without spelling it out.
Tell: "The man was a thief."
Show: "He moved through the crowd, fingers brushing pockets, his hand darting away with a glint of gold."
7. Use Subtext in Interactions
What’s left unsaid can reveal as much as what’s spoken.
Tell: "They were uncomfortable around each other."
Show: "He avoided her eyes, pretending to study the painting on the wall. She smoothed her dress for the third time, her fingers fumbling with the hem."
8. Compare to Relatable Experiences
Use metaphors, similes, or comparisons to make an emotion or situation vivid.
Tell: "The mountain was huge."
Show: "The mountain loomed above them, its peak disappearing into the clouds, as if it pierced the heavens."
Practice Example:
Tell: "The village had been destroyed by the fire."
Show: "Charred beams jutted from the rubble like broken ribs, the acrid smell of ash lingering in the air. A child's shoe lay half-buried in the soot, its leather curled from the heat."

Hey everyone!
As I celebrate a year of pouring my heart into this life business, I want to connect with you all on a deeper level. Whether you're a seasoned follower or a recent addition to this writing haven, I'd love to hear from you!
Feel free to send in your burning questions, writing dilemmas, or even just a simple hello. Your asks and messages make this journey more magical. 💖
How do you deal with bad days? For writing, I meant. Today I woke up feeling like absolute shit about my projects and my writing ability — I know it's not completely but I've also recently started writing in a new format than my usual and the way it has absolutely humbled me despite my years of writing experience has been low-key, crushing. I'm really trying my best and reminding myself that I want to write for myself but feeling like I'm not good enough has been haunting me the entire day.
Sorry about the heavy ask, I'm not sure who to talk to about this 😭
Hello there friend!
I think this is the most relatable ask I've had in a while. Sometimes you wake up and everything seems so daunting (currently "writing" my PhD).
Personally, and this is thanks to my therapist's notes, I remind myself that we ALL go through highs and lows, no matter how tempted I feel to compare my progress to that of others.
To say something very clichéd (and I'm sure you heard it several times), your feelings are valid, and giving yourself permission to experience them can be a powerful way to navigate through difficult times. If you're not in the mood for writing, just don't do it, do something else. I wholeheartedly discourage forcing yourself to do something that you love because you'll end up hating it.
Try to be kinder to yourself (something that doesn't come easily to many of us). Try to recognize the effort you're putting into following your passion and trying new approaches. It's not always easy to stay committed, and there are days when everything feels like an uphill battle. But the fact that you're still trying your best every day deserves credit. Give yourself the acknowledgment you deserve for persevering through challenges. Progress progress isn't always linear, sometimes it's a whole labyrinth, and every small step forward counts. Trying new approaches, even if they don't always work out, is a valuable learning experience.
I can relate to battling imposter syndrome—it's no joke. But, seriously, your accomplishments are valid. Own them, and don't let self-doubt dim your success and the years of experience you have accumulated. A trick I use to get myself out of that mindset is that I tell myself, if I were an imposter, I would have been found out by now! Trust me, it works!
Your determination is inspiring, and it's clear that you've chosen not to give up. If you ever need someone to talk to or support, don't hesitate to reach out. We're all in this journey together, and sometimes a listening ear or a friendly chat can make a significant difference.
Cheers! 🌞✨
