Today I learned that in Legends Luke had an evil clone named Luuke, that was a real actual thing, his name was Luuke and he was evil and he was cloned from Luke’s cut off hand that they found in a literal pile of garbage, if this isn’t deliciously funny enough for you, Luuke was made by a guy who HIMSELF was an evil clone of a guy named Jorus C’baoth. What was that evil clone’s name? You guessed it. Fucking JORUUS. Star Wars is so stupid, it’s the stupidest thing in the world and I love it with every cell in my body

My friend genuinely thinks that Jango Fett didn’t love Boba because he was a bounty hunter, and that shown in some books, wasn’t home often. I think that Jango was a good father (as good as a ruthless assassin can be) and I’m begging you to prove them wrong.
TBH, I don’t know whole lot about Boba &Jango’s relationship beyond the movies but, personally, I think to say Jangowas a “good father” might be a stretch. He literary demanded Boba as payment andthen spent the rest of his life using him as a sidekick. I know, I know…everyonehad shitty, traumatizing childhood in star wars and, in comparison, one couldsay Boba’s wasn’t THAT bad. But, imo, that doesn’t make it okay. I mean, itwasn’t as bad as it could’ve been (all things considered) but that doesn’t meanit was good. Granted, they genuinely cared for each other but love doesn’t necessarytranslate into healthy relationships
I think we could argue that in general, someone’s wish to have a child/offspring is selfish by nature. Jango simply get the “son” in less traditional way. What is important, somehow along the way his mindset was changed from an apprentice / having someone to pass Jaster Mereel’s legacy (seen in JF: OS)
or Attack of the Clones novel’s version:
Other than that, though, this was just a job, well paying and easy enough. Financially, he couldn’t have asked for more, but more important, only the Kaminoans could have given him Boba-not just a son, but an exact replica. Boba would give Jango the pleasure of seeing all that he might have become had he grown up with a loving and caring father, a mentor who cared enough to criticize, to force him to perfection. He was as good as it got concerning bounty hunters, concerning warriors, but he had no doubt that Boba, bred and trained for perfection, would far outshine him to become one of the greatest warriors the galaxy had ever known.
into honest fatherly feelings toward Boba and the boy became the most important person in his life, what could be seen in mentioned AotC novel, like here:
A Jedi Knight here on Kamino. The thought was more than a little unsettling to Jango Fett.
The bounty hunter fell back in his seat and tightened his face in frustration-such were the problems with working for the Trade Federation. They were masters at weaving deception within deception, and they were up to so much right now that there was no single focus Jango could deter mine.
He looked across the room at Boba, who was hard at work poring over the schematics and capabilities of a Delta-7 starfighter, and matching them up against the known strengths and weaknesses of an R4-P unit.
Life was so simple for the boy, Jango thought with a touch of envy. For Boba, there was the love of and for his father, and his studies. Other than those two givens, the only real challenge before the boy was in finding enjoyable things to do at those times when Jango was away or busy with the Kaminoans.
At that moment, looking at his son, Jango Fett felt vulnerable, so very vulnerable, and it was not an emotion with which he was the least bit comfortable. He almost told Boba to go and pack, then and there, so they could blast away from Kamino, but he recognized the danger of that course. He would be leaving without learning anything about his potential enemy, this Jedi Knight who had arrived unexpectedly. His boss would want that information.
And Jango would need that information. If he took off now, after receiving a note from Taun We telling him that he would be receiving a visitor later that same day, it would be fairly obvious that he was fleeing.
Then he’d have a Jedi Knight on his tail, and one about whom he knew practically nothing.
Jango continued to stare at Boba, at the only thing that really mattered.
“Play it cool,” he whispered to himself. “You’re nothing more than a clone source, well paid enough to want to know nothing about why you’re being cloned.”
That was his litany, that was his plan. And it had to work.
For Boba’s sake.
The problem with Jango’s way of raising a child is a mix of his own trauma and upbringing. Did Jango consider himself a Mandalorian at that moment of life we can’t tell for sure (and the new canon does not help on that matter, sadly), but his life experiences gave him specific view on how to survive in the cruel galaxy. And everything he taught Boba wasn’t just to make him a perfect Bounty Hunter (or Mandalorian), but to guarantee son’s survival:
This, then, was Jango Fett’s greatest reward, right here, sitting with his son, his young replica, sharing quiet moments. Quiet moments within the tumult that had been Jango Fett’s entire life, surviving the trials of the Outer Rim alone practically from the day he learned to walk. Each trial had made him stronger, had made him more perfect, had honed the skills that he would now pass along to Boba. There was no one better in all the galaxy to teach his son. When Jango Fett wanted you caught, you were caught. When Jango Fett wanted you dead, you were dead. No, not when Jango “wanted” those things. This was never personal. The hunting, the killing, it was all a job, and among the most valuable of lessons Jango had learned early on was how to become dispassionate. Completely so. That was his greatest weapon. He looked at Taun We, then turned to grin at his son. Jango could be dispassionate, except for those times when he could spend time alone with Boba. With Boba, there was pride and there was love, and Jango had to work constantly to keep both of those potential weaknesses at a minimum. While he loved his son dearly-because he loved his son dearly-Jango had been teaching him those same attributes of dispassion, even callousness, from his earliest days.
Not really healthly stuff to teach your kid, especially not by our modern standards. But perfect by mandalorian standards (and Jango was raised by mandalorian leader, Jaster Mereel) or at least by bounty hunter who knows only how to hunt and kill and do bidding those with money, like Jango. His selfiish need to have an apprentice / having someone to pass Jaster Mereel’s legacy evolved into something much genuine. Even if his parenting style was still fucked up with the bounty hunter’s training, both Boba and Jango were very close as father and son and did not have a reason to doubt they were loved by other. Frankly, I dare to say that Boba became sort of light in otherwise cold, asocial and kinda depressing Jango’s life and keep the man emotionally alive, when Fett had nothing except hatred for Jedi to fuel him for years.

So... I found this and now it keeps coming to mind. You hear about "life-changing writing advice" all the time and usually its really not—but honestly this is it man.
I'm going to try it.
I love the lawyer metaphor, because whenever I see “John knew that...” in prose writing I immediately think “how? How does he know it?” Interrogate your witnesses. Cross-examine them. Make them explain their reasoning. It pays dividends.
All of this, but also feels/felt. My editor has forbidden me from using those and it’s forced me to stretch my skills.
This is your "show not tell" advice explained!
THIS
hm. im REALLY against any variation of “this rule is true in any context” because it defeats the point of creativity, but this is good advice for a) beefing up your descriptions and b) communicating emotional tension (eg, the MC has not admitted or processes this feeling but you want to show them having it)
That said, sometimes you would want to just state the character’s opinion. (& maybe contrast it with their actions, the situation) or use a shorthand when it’s like an introductory side detail.
What I like about it though is that it’s NOT stated as a “don’t ever do this in any context” rule - it’s not a rule, it’s a challenge. Don’t ever do this for the next six months and see how it changes your writing. Not never do it again, just try it and then you can go back to using them but you’ll probably do it way more sparingly because you’ve built up other tools to use instead of those words.

[FIC] A Soft Interlude
Rating: T
Pairing: Din Djarin/Boba Fett
Word Count: 1.7k (COMPLETE)
Tags: Cuddling, Fluff, Sharing a Bed, Touch-Starved Boba Fett
Summary: There’s only one bed. It’s very, very small. So Din teaches Boba how to cuddle.
“You’re running on empty,” Din says, “I can see the bags under your eyes.”
“Yeah, well, we can’t all be pretty,” Boba mutters, but Din’s made his point. He can feel himself listing, off-balance and compensating for his aching muscles.
