They teach you a lot in school; everything from the alphabet to economics. But they don't teach you about heartbreak. How could anyone? It has to be experienced to be understood. Not the heartbreak of puppy love or a high school breakup; no, the heartbreak of meeting someone who absolutely changes everything, having them, and losing them. I could take this as an opportunity to mourn and plea for sympathy, but I won't. Rather, let my pain be a lesson: don't take love for granted. Some of you know what I'm talking about. It's to those of you who don't that I'm speaking. Someday, you will find someone who will make your life better for no other reason than that they're in it. When you do, no matter how rocky it gets (and if it's real, it will have rocky moments) do everything you can to make it work. If you do and it falls apart then it wasn't meant to be. But if you don't and you lose them, you'll spend much time (as I have and still am) looking and waiting for that rare, god sent person who measures up to or surpasses your old flame. I know I can't prepare you for all of these things, but maybe my words can help. And for those of you who have lost their someone and are looking and waiting as I am: be strong. I know where you are and I know those memories and feelings you have when you'd give anything to have them back. Don't stop looking, but don't stop enjoying the roses, either. The world is beautiful, you are beautiful, and you have much unseen beauty to show the world.
