David Parker MSc ASCC

David Parker is the National Men’s Javelin Coach in Shanghai, China. He has been a coach and a mentor for nearly two decades and has trained athletes at every level of fitness in a variety of disciplines. As a mentor, David uses a combination of his degree in Sports Biomechanics with his own training system to ensure that athletes become the best version of themselves without injury. His company, The Javelin Throw is the next iteration of sport, a one-for-all hub to inform people about all things related to the world of javelin throws.

Be creative and innovative with your training and preparation, not least to keep athletes interested in the process, however make sure that the process is joined up. It doesn’t matter what method of periodisation you adopt if you have a strong rationale as to why, which fits with your philosophy. What is performance, is often a question that is asked in sport? Understanding it is critical otherwise the direction that the ship is sailing in, will never be clear. The reversal allows for these products to be used in medical research or healing, uses long since proven to have no benefits to humans. This change will certainly lead to more pressure on already terribly vulnerable animal populations and place in greater danger the conservationists, rangers and communities who fight for the survival of these majestic creatures. Here, Sudan, the last living male Northern White Rhino left on this planet is comforted moments before he passed away March 19, 2018 in northern Kenya. Sudan was brought to Kenya from @safari_park_dvur_kralove in the #Czechrepublic in 2009. He died surrounded by people who loved him at @olpejeta and has been an inspirational figure for many across the world. If there is any meaning in his death, its that Sudan can be our final wake up call. In a world of 7 billion, we need to start recognizing that we are not separate from nature. When we see ourselves as part of the landscape and part of nature, then saving nature is really about saving ourselves. Today, fewer 30,000 rhinos and 3,900 tigers remain in the wild. We are witnessing extinction on our watch and must help them by speaking out and supporting conservation efforts worldwide, especially among the indigenous communities who are on the front lines every day against poaching. Portuguese Javelin Throwing is in safe hands with these guys and it was great to be asked to offer the benefit of my experiences during their throwing session. Leandro is still a Junior in 2019 and already has the 80m line in his sights with a personal best of 73.61m already. A fantastically talented athlete with a coach desperate to learn to enable him to provide the best possible support as Leandro develops.
