I cannot believe there's absolutely no way to watch free shows and movies anymore, there are too many paid streaming platforms and pirating websites have viruses and ads preventing you from watching it uninterrupted((.)) id rather follow the rules and purchase media moving forward because it is too inconvenient. Seriously, free and no ads or viruses with 1080p streaming is DEAD.

Half of those services don't even work well. Oh you paused a little too long so we're exiting to the place where we can show more ads. I've even had some that made me search for the show every time because it wouldn't save it. It's like, that's the only reason you're sometimes more convenient and you're still fucking it up! So many anti-science (and particularly, anti-vax) people apply their diet and orthorexia culture to medicine. That is one of the things you will hear over and over again. “I actually read the ingredients of this vaccine and it has [SUBSTANCE] in it so I will not let my child get vaccinated.” which is exactly how these people grocery shop, I’m sure. No understanding of chemistry, no research into why that ingredient is in there, what it is doing to help make the vaccine safe and effective and what amount would make it toxic to the human body. They will be like “Oh my god, there is hydrochloric acid in there! I’m not going to research into why it is in there (in small amounts as a PH stabilizer), it’s hydrochloric acid (the human body creates it naturally) and they’re trying to inject this into our children!”

Unironically, I saw someone say to avoid citric acid in food products (it’s a common preservative and acidifier, very safe in moderation, occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables) because it is made of black mold. Which is partially correct, Aspergillus niger produces high amounts of citric acid when fed properly BUT the mold is completely filtered out of the final refined product. SO MANY FOOD PRODUCTS ARE MADE WITH MOLD, this one doesn’t have actual mold in it, you are fearmongering about the evils of mold while it lives all around us all the time!

its always helpful imo to remember theres a cis person with whatever problem you have as a trans person 9/10 times. theres a cis man as short as you, a cis woman as tall as you, with hands and feet as big or small as yours. theres a cis woman scared to go out without shaving twice a day, theres a cis man whos upset bc he will never grow a beard. theres a cis woman who worries her infertility makes her less of a woman, and theres a cis man feeling similarly about his lack of potency. theres cis women who dilate and cis men with phalloplasty. theres a cis man scared that painting his nails will make people think hes not really a man and a cis woman whos exhausted with spending hours grooming just so people treat her like she wants to be treated as a woman. they dont put it in the terms we do but theyre worried that these problems make them inadequate at the gender they want people to see them as. our patriarchal system has made the boxes were supposed to fit into so small and you arent alone in not fitting it--nobody really fits

i know folks are gonna call me a pedo for this one, but i grew up seeing my mom and grandma naked. they had health issues and at times needed care and help showering. and i truly think more kids need to be shown the nonsexual reality of naked women at a young age. there is nothing sexual about my grandmothers breasts, they were simply body parts. more women die of heart attacks because people are too afraid of breasts to do real chest compressions, because they are scared to touch their breasts. the sexualization of our bodies literally kills us. i need people to be more normal about naked bodies and i'm 100% serious.

The funniest bit about the entire pirating thing is, that we have a bunch of research showing, that there is exactly two kinds of people pirating media.

a) the type who indeed would just never spend money for the stuff they pirate, so in their world either they pirate it or never interact with it.

b) the type who actually spends a lot of money on media, but there is just too much media out there and not all is always available so they do pirate it, because they love media and do plan to eventually buy all the stuff they love.

And like... neither of them... if you discourage them from pirating you actually make more money. Version a) will never spend money, version b) is already planning to do so when it becomes available to them.

Getting a hobby- I've seen so much wonderful textile work, eco- gardening and people developing skills - particularly during events like action week. For a world so focused on consumption, this is lifechanging. I'm learning hobby electronics and now I can fix my friends phones. That is tangible and immediate change. Graffiti and sewing go hand in hand here.

Gathering social groups and communities of likeminded folks - ALL OVER THE WORLD. The support network it creates makes forming structured movemements easier. Punks have known this since forever. Small music venues, library book clubs, and political groups all because of random groupchats. [I'll admit, forming structure should become a priority - with WORK, TIME and TRUST, it's happening.]

The mission of solarpunk as a literary subgenre is to show what is possible. Its aligned with science fiction in this respect. Science fiction inspires so much in the world, and solarpunk will do the same.
