Personal and Art Blog- also it's a main blog so if you follow one of my side blogs and this account follows you that would be why. ++++++++++++26 i forgot to update that for awhile whoops- as of 2020/Grey Aro/???/Agender. Requests open I guess??? It'll probably be doodly.
Getting back into your Mob!Au for Welcome Home, but I forgot everyone's rolls in the mob! Can we get a refresher of the gang's responsibilities? I know Wally is the boss, Howdy runs the bar, Frank is financial manager, and Dusty protects the vault... but past that, I'm lost!
o h m a n its been a while since I worked, or even thought about these goobers lore wise JJHFGKSFF-- like holy moly I even forgot how to draw em (so take a test doodle lmAo)
cw bug/swarm silhouettes
But what from I remember, here's a list of their respected jobs (in order of Rank)
(for the main cast for now) (there may or may not be anything missing, or added/updated)
Wally: Obviously their most "enthusiastic" Boss. He doesn't do too much besides approve/reject orders, enforce rules, and be a casual reminder that, you are indeed, here forever*. Owns several brands ranging WILDLY (from cigs, to ovens, to baby diapers etc etc. Seemingly random, totally not a fire hazard)
Barnaby: Wally's Left-hand bodyguard. The boss isnt quite the greatest when it comes to discussions with potential clients/neighbors, so Barnaby is usually the one who does all the sweet talking for him. Usually the one who recommends "party" plans.
Howdy: Wally's Right-hand bodyguard. Due to his silent nature, he's purely there to be commanded however the boss sees fit. When not on duty as a guard, he's tending the company building's bar (open to the public on ground floor) and refilling stock.
Frank: Oh goodie look who ranked up! HEAVILY overworked however. He alone deals with all of the most boring of tasks, which include (but not limited to): Keeping every single paper file organized and up to date, calling in appointments for the boss and sometimes the family members, running errands, quality inspection in case they need to call in for second or even third party quality inspection, make online orders, make physical orders, update the decorative flora, plan events, put "party" plans into motion or reject due to budget, also cancel said planned events due to Sally, make sure the nursery is stocked and full, refill not bar exclusive fridges, haggling, getting rid of evidence, planting fake evidence, and so so so so so so so so much more! an alcoholic, and not-too recently started smoking.
Poppy: The only nurse who's available 24/7. Due to her severe insistent and persistent paranoia and anxiety, her workload has been reduced considerably (and shoved onto Frank.) On weekends, on her own accord, she likes to make everyone breakfast and serve it at the bar before everyone wakes up. Usually Howdy is awake as well and helps her whenever available.
Julie: Secondary nurse and "private" assassin. Specializes in poisons/antidotes, and organized crimes. Despite being a nurse, she's rarely doing nurse work, and instead can be found constantly reworking formulas, creating mind altering substances, and hunting for someone who's perhaps willing to be her guineapig to do test trials on (nobody ever is). Sometimes takes pity on Frank and helps him with their work. Sometimes.
Sally: "Public" assassin and a complete menace. Incredibly sloppy with her work and not completely reliable with making sure someone is dead unless she's allowed explosives (She's blacklisted from ever doing so again.) Developed a love for the next best thing: tasers. Mainly used to trash enemy bases and send a message that the mob doesn't take too kindly to their recent behaviors. Basically a physical embodiment of (and nicknamed) "Cease and Desist".
why is it so scary to just go and casually draw the characters of other people, like what if i draw an incredibly beloved oc just a little bit wrong and then a barrel gets smashed over my head killing me instantly
My goal and dream and deepest desire is for every black child and every black adult to know the safety and security and hope and love we all should have been offered from birth. And even if it came late to you, I hope you know that you are still worthy of it.
I hope you come home to a soft bed and a solid roof. Dry floors and food in the fridge. Money in your pocket or at least in your bank account. Surrounded by love whether romantic or platonic. I hope something good happens to you today. I hope you smile, laugh, feel joy today. And I hope you know that this is something you should always have felt, as a bare minimum, from the time you were born. And I hope you know I'm sorry if that wasn't the case, and that I'd like to work with you to make sure that happens for you soon. Because I hope you know that you deserve to feel fulfilled and happy. Always. Every day.
Every year I get a lot, I mean a LOT, of people in the big annual survey's feedback box that's like "I'd really like if you could ask about gender presentation next year" or "I'm surprised you didn't ask how long people have been out for" or suchlike.
So first of all, I want to be like, "[gn] sir, this is a language survey."
But second, I want to inform everyone who says something like that, that what I have learned in the over 12 years of randomly surveying the world's population is,
if you are curious about something you can just run a survey. They can't stop you. I didn't have to get a special permit or anything.[1] Google Forms is free. People love talking about themselves. Collect the data. Play with it. Lose your tan and become a laptop goblin. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

truly from the bottom of my heart i hate the level of enshittification etsy has reached because it's still the best place to buy patterns for my hobby and every time i go scrolling through endless ai-generated bullshit to finally dig up a human-designed pattern i like, i'm hit with a deluge of 'popular!! 563 people are looking at this right now!! it's in 134632 baskets!! you must buy immediately!!!' it's a pdf file. it's a fucking pdf file. do you get off on trying to give people fomo over a fucking pdf file. fuck off. get diarrhea forever.
and that's not even touching the ai-generated patterns with hundreds of 5-star bot reviews that are stupidly easy to spot if you know what to look for. but most beginners don't know what to look for, so they're straight-up scammed into buying based on a nice picture. then their 'hey, i made this and it looks nothing like advertised' comments get buried under hundreds of 5-star bot reviews, and this is how someone who might have otherwise discovered an interesting and fulfilling hobby drops it, thinking the pattern's fine, everyone else likes it, so it's on them for not being good enough. it pisses me off so much, you have no idea.
anyway, here's some shops selling amigurumi (crochet soft toys) patterns fully created by crafters. i've either bought and made patterns from them or saved them for later, meaning i already checked that they aren't ai-generated. i might make a post later on how to spot ai-generated amigurumi patterns, but i wanted to give these a shout-out. go buy from them if you can, it's cool stuff and an interesting skill to learn.
straw animals design (etsy store) plushies and accessories, including some knitted patterns. beginner friendly!
green frog crochet (website store). mostly doll patterns, very pretty and totally worth the time and effort. they also sell full kits for some of the patterns, that include all supplies except for crochet hooks and fiberfill. also, youtube channel with tutorials.
moonlight crochet (etsy store). mostly doll patterns, lots of clothes you can adapt to dolls of similar sizes
yan schenkel (website store for individual patterns) has several books out that i really love. it took a bit of digging to figure out if this online store selling the pdf versions is legit and i found that the publisher sells directly through them. there are three pattern books (1, 2, 3) with animal plushies.
natura crochet (website store) has colorful animal and holiday themed patterns, plus two books of aquatic themed patterns. same publisher/seller as above.
hanichan (website store) has a distinct and minimalist style that i think is very beginner friendly. there are also useful general tutorials for amigurumi.
aquariwool crochet (etsy store). a lot of colorful and fun animal patterns. i haven't bought anything from them yet but i have a few saved and honestly just looking through the patterns makes me happy.
make me roar (website store). one of the more unique styles i've seen out there, especially these.
jo handmade design (etsy store). both plushies and more realistic toys, the patterns are very well written and illustrated.
whenever possible i linked to a store outside etsy, but not all pattern creators have one, so it's 100% worth checking them out and supporting them despite the absolute tar pit they operate in. also whatever creative hobby you're curious about, don't let an ai-generated picture discourage you from trying it. you are a god capable of summoning something out of nothing and generative ai is a pathetic little string of mathematical operations with ideas above its station.
I AM GOING TO SCREAM AND SCREAM AND SCREAM to the heavens until everyone knows about the Etsy competitor goimagine!!!
Shop Handmade | Shop Local | Shop with Purpose
The founder of GoImagine refuses to go public or sell the platform: NO SHARE HOLDERS TO APPEASE!!
They have a STRICT vetting process for sellers: NO BOTS, NO AI, NO DROP SHIPPING, HAND MADE CRAFTS ONLY!!
You can narrow down stores you're shopping from by STATE! EASILY SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES!!
2% of every sale transaction is donated to charity!!!
This is baked into the platform. Right now they're partnered with four different charities to fight childhood hunger, provide relief childcare for families dealing with domestic violence, end childhood homelessness, and fund art accessablity. HELPING KIDS!!!!
I have a shop there that I will be stocking soon! If you're a creator, their basic ship front is FREE and you get 12 listing slots! The next size up is only $5 a month and you get 200 listings, and the topn you're at $15 gives you 1,000 product listings and a whole ass customizable store front website. That's cheaper than anything else on the market rn.
Current downsides that will not remain downsides: they're only available in the USA but they're planning on expanding into Canada soon. And they've been mostly focused on growing their seller side, so not a lot of buyers know about them yet. But!!! That why I tell everyone I can! Shop with them! List your products with them! Use a platform that has a dedicated mission for community good and is there to support sustainable creator markets, not create endless bloated corporate growth!!!!
Canada has MavenFair which doesn't quite do as much on the charity side but it does have the "free bunch of listings at the lowest tier" thing. Anyways if you wanna say screw Etsy, it's an option for Canadians. (And I look forward to goimagine being available here.)
Visa and Mastercard may be getting a lot of calls about their adult content policies, but I just called in to PayPal and not only was there no wait, the customer service rep I got had never had one of these calls before (they were very nice about it.)
Don't overlook the online processors - even more than Visa and Mastercard they are the ones pressuring online retailers. PayPal is the one that's been pressuring Patreon over the last year or so.
I've had no luck reaching Stripe, all of the numbers people have dug up ring through as disconnected.
It goes direct to a voicemail box, and the message encourages you to reach out via email, but you're able to leave a message and they may call you back, as that's what happened to me.
They're also getting a high call volume, so if your call doesn't connect the first time, try again later.
i care btw. i care abt the song ur listening to or the bug u saw or how u just got outta the shower or how ur happily hanging out w ur friends or how ur kinda sad or how good was the meal u just had or ur fav character from an indie game nobody knows or if u chugged down some water. i always will
KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.
Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.
Please sign/share the petition and contact your representatives.
my biggest piece of advice is to call or email your representatives yourself! representatives' emails and phones get flooded by these tools constantly, but a personal message from even a few people will stick out like crazy!!
dude omg i did NOT âcome back wrongâ you just remember me as imperfect and now iâm a divinely elevated version of myself with no capacity for wrongdoing. iâm still me dude iâm literally the same basically *all electronics within three feet of me explode* sorry i mean i meant to do that
Q: Your father was apparently an extremely sensitive man. If only all fathers could be as perceptive about their gay sons.
A: I had a solid foundation of acceptance. I still remember him saying the one thing that has been utterly critical to the work I've done as a man who loves men. One day we went to an exhibit of cave paintings, which we both loved. At one point he turned and asked me who I thought had created them. I said I didn't know. "It had to be the fags," he explained. "All the other men are out hunting and killing. There's a bunch of fags sitting in the back of the cave, complaining about how ugly it is, wondering what they can do to make it look better. So they decide to paint some bison on the walls." I never forgot that conversation. Years later, I realized that my father was consciously trying to say to me, "I want you to understand that you have roots, you have a history." I grew up being told all these stories about being Jewish. That's part of my tribal consciousness. But except for a few things my father said, like that day at the museum, I realize that no one tells our gay stories except for ourselves.
Q: Is this how you regard yourself, as a gay storyteller?
A: Thousands of years ago people were sitting around a fire, telling stories. And here we are today, sitting around a tape recorder with two little red lights glowing like embers. It's all that's left of the fire, but that's enough. There's somebody who asks, What happened? And there's somebody who tells why what happened happened. And the rest of the tribe is sitting with us.
ITHACA, N.Y. â The Museum of the Earth, one of the last natural history museums in Upstate New York, faces an imminent threat of foreclosure
If you have ever been tempted by a Paleozoic Pal, like a a stuffed trilobite or a full size eurypterid body pillow, now's the time to buy one, before they and a really lovely little museum are gone for good đđđ
Paleozoic Palsâą Paleozoic Palsâą are the Paleontological Research Institutionâs line of plush fossils. The Paleozoic is the era before dinosa
This was the museum I went to often in my childhood. I'm no longer able to visit unless I visit family, but this place holds a special place in my heart.
As stated in the article, they hold around 7 million artifacts- many of which are orphaned fossils, with the museum taking in collections that otherwise would have been trashed.
Please consider buying a Paleozoic Pal, but I'll also leave a direct donation link as well.
I JUST WENT INTO A FUGUE STATE AND BOUGHT ME A 16 INCH CUDDLE BUDDY WITH PLATED TEETH!! DUNKIE, MY BELOVED!!
Screeching aside, anyone who can afford to, go look through their shop! They got clothes, and cute gifts, and books and all kinds of other awesome stuff! Ye, the shipping sucks, but we need to keep our museums alive! (the good ones, not the British Museum of Thievery XP)
HEâS HERE! MY BIG BOY IS HERE!! (And yes he is my BIG boy despite only being 16 inches, you shush!)
He took nearly a month to get here, but thatâs because of ALL THE ORDERS THEYâVE BEEN GETTING! OVER 1800 ORDERS! This is why I love the online community!!
Now if you donât mind Iâm going to tuck Duncan into my sweater and go work on the piles of stuff I still have to do đ
For anyone curious what's happening with the PRI they're digging themselves out! An anonymous donor gave them $1 mn which they used to secure a stay on the forclosure for the rest of the year and they're approximately a third of the way to buying their way out of the mortgage.
