BTW, just to make sure everyone knows, this isn't just some internet rando commenting on her observations on the internet.
They are an Assistant Professor of Media Industries at New York University and literally just finished writing The Apple II Age: How the Computer Became Personal, a book on the history of the computer industry in the 70s.
This tweet isn't just an observation, it's the result of years of research and study. And it's absolutely true.
very cool but also kind of a dick move
Stop making Hannibal furry headcanons unless itās this bird
It's apparently only ONE population of this species that does this. Everyone else hunts and caches normally. The other falcons probably talk shit about this fucked up torture family.
Ooooh thatās even more fascinating. That means itās a learned behavior they TAUGHT one another.
why is your cat green?
Sheās built different š
Look i tried to laugh it off, but I havenāt stopped thinking about this message because⦠my cat literally isnāt green
like where is the green
Oh Christ
This is the color your cat is
colors i eyedropped directly from op's cat
I drew a tree using only colours eyedropped from OP's cat.
How is it is supposed to work: your emotions are a response to your situation and surroundings. It is OK to feel the emotion. Now take that emotion and use your logical brain to decide which parts of the emotion fit the facts of the situation and which do not and why, and how youāre going to respond to said emotions (which is what tweet said, and what therapists say)
How people seem to interpret it: any emotional reaction is perfectly fine and I am not responsible for what I do out of emotion.
The āHow it is supposed to workā part is really great, took me long enough and a therapist to figure that.
my parents visited today and their latest item of āwhat people you knew in school are up to latelyā gossip was about the absolutely BONKERS thing theyāre trying to talk their friend out of doing to her daughter. Iām still in shock tbh
Their friend is helping her daughterās boyfriendās mom to throw a 200-guest surprise engagement party for her daughter and her daughterās boyfriend. The daughter and the bf are not engaged. Neither of them have even discussed planning to get engaged with their respective mothers. The moms are going to surprise the bf with his late grandmotherās ring at the party and tell him itās time to propose to his gf. In front of 200 friends and family members. Just an absolute nightmare scenario.
Oh the kicker is that the pretense theyāre inviting people under is that itās a surprise ācongrats on passing the barā party for the bf. A thing he is currently stressing about having to take for the second time and may not pass. So it may turn into a 200-person surprise āsorry you failed to pass the bar for the second time, hereās your grandmaās ring, go propose anywayā party, which is a near-incomprehensible level of public humiliation.
Bfās mom, whose brainchild this whole thing was, has already rented out an entire waterfront restaurant for the party. In Newport. This is what āmore money than senseā looks like in practice.
Since this blew up overnight and people are asking, I managed to track the daughter down on linkedin today (the only social media I could find that we both have, lol) and message her. So she has been warned, and hopefully doesn't take the message poorly.
Have you ever been to earth?
On earth, we use the word āburritoā to describe a tortilla filled with things you eat. Pretty simple stuff, and Iām surprised you at least got that part right. My burrito was, in fact, filled with food. In this, you and I agree and are friends. But this is also where my lifelong hatred begins for you and anyone else whose brain has been repeatedly scrubbed with the same mixture of bleach and Pop Rocks as yours has. Because that should have killed you, but left you around long enough to do what you did to me today. Let me explain:
Youāre an idiot.
Let me further explain:
Burritos are eaten from one end to the other. So that means when you assemble a burrito with motherfucking ZONES of ingredients going that direction, you create a disgusting experience for the burritoās end user. When you make a burrito, you should put the ingredients in layerslengthwise.Ā That way, every bite has AT LEAST A FUCKING CHANCE of getting at least two types of ingredients, and there is little chance of becoming almost hopelessly trapped in a goddamned cilantro cavern.
Have you ever eaten one of the things you make all fucking day? You should try one. They are pretty good WHEN YOU ARE NOT WILLING YOURSELF THROUGH THE FUCKING EMPIRE OF SOUR CREAM ONLY TO END UP IN LETTUCE COUNTRY.
When you eat a burrito, you donāt stand it up and bite down on it lengthwise like a fucking Rancor. Humans canāt usually dislocate their jaws, and Iām not a fucking pelican. But you must think thatās how itās done, since that would be THE ONLY FUCKING WAY to take a bite of your crapstrosity and have it taste like a burrito.
And guess what else, player? You probably canāt guessĀ anything, because Iām pretty sure youāre just a mop with a hat on it that fell over and spilled some shit into a tortilla, but just in case, hereās what:
Humans also donāt eat burritos like fucking corn on the cob. Like a fucking typewriter from one end to the other a little at a time and then DING next line. But today I wish I had tried that. Because at least THEN I would be able to eat some rice, then beans, then be all like HEY BEANS IāLL BE RIGHT BACK JUST GOING OVER HERE TO THE GUACAMOLE FOR A SECOND.
Nope.
My experience was more like HEY BEANS ITāS JUST GOING TO BE YOU AND I FOR A MINUTE UNTIL I CAN FUCKING EXCAVATE THE RICE FROM BENEATH YOU BUT BY THEN YOU WILL BE A FADING MEMORY OH HEY I WAS WRONG IāM IN THE FUCKING CHEESEOSPHERE NOW RICE MUST BE NEXT I HOPE ITāS NOT ANOTHER FUCKING SALSA POCKET.
You built this thing like a fucking pack of LifeSavers.
And donāt even fucking think Iām about to open this shit up and re-engineer your nonsense 90 degrees. I ALREADY PUT A HOLE IN IT WITH MY FUCKING MOUTH. YEAH. THATāS HOW I DISCOVERED YOU FUCKING SUCK AT LOOKING AT THINGS. I AM NOT GOING TO DO FUCKING TORTILLA ORIGAMI TO GET THIS SHIT BACK TOGETHER, ONLY TO END UP WITH A BURRITO THATāS BEEN SHOT IN THE GUT AND IS BLEEDING YOUR INEPTITUDE.
Whatās that? I should ask you to mix it up first next time? IS THIS JAMBA JUICE? I DONāT WANT TO DRINK MY FUCKING BURRITO THROUGH A BENDY STRAW, AND I DONāT WANT A PILE OF BURRITO SOUP IN A FLOUR CAN.
I just want a burrito.
In conclusion:
Youāre the worst thing that has ever happened to the universe, you owe everyone everywhere an apology for this burritobomination, and I hope your babies look like monkeys.
UPDATE FOR EVERYONE WHO SAID āJUST EAT IT WITH A FORKā:
A fuckingĀ fork?
I DIDNāT ORDER THE FUCKING COBBURRITO SALAD.
If anyone ever handed me a burrito with a fork, THEY WOULD BE WEARING A BRAND NEW BURRITO HAT FROM MY FALL COLLECTION TEN SECONDS LATER.
Thatās like buying a car and having them hand you a fucking wrench with the keys. Like YEAH WE KNOW THIS MOTHERFUCKERāS GOING TO EXPLODE AND BE SPREAD ACROSS EIGHT LANES AS SOON AS YOU HIT THE GAS, BUT SHIT, WE GAVE YOU A WRENCH, SO BE COOL.
Jesus already gave me two burrito forks. One at the end of each arm. Theyāre called fucking HANDS.
A fork. My god. I havenāt cried since I was six, but Iām fucking sobbing now.
People eat burritos with forks?
God is sorry he made us.

People just gotta know what Crater Lake and Wizard Island looks like
What in the Skyrim
been there several times. And yeah, Skyrim feels super duper Oregon in a lot of ways.
We gonna talk about Crater Lake, and Wizard Island and not mention the Old Man of the Lake?
The Old Man of the Lake is a log that floats around the lake. It is somewhat strange in that it floats vertically. It's roughly 30 feet tall, with only about 5 or so feet sticking out above the surface of the water. It was first 'offically' recorded in the early 20th century, though there are oral reports of it as far back as 1896 (and likely earlier still given the cultural importance of Crater Lake to the Klamath tribe of that area.
The Old Man should have rotted away long ago or at the very least become waterlogged and sank into the water fully, but nope. Over a hundred years, and there is this log still in the water just floating.
So y'know how I said the fact that it floats vertically was 'somewhat strange'? Let's get into some actual strange territory regarding the Old Man. It moves. Against the wind. It has been recorded moving in paths that do not make sense, never getting stuck on the shore of Wizard Island, nor the area of shore around the lake. Now that's strange.
So now let's get freaky: The free-floating Old Man posed a hazard to boats since it moves, and only a small portion of it was above water. (though personal boats are no longer allowed on the lake) Anyway, in 1988 a team was using a small submersible to explore the lake. The scientist figured it'd be a good idea to moor the Old Man near the coast of Wizard Island out of their way, for safety. So they tied some rope to it, to move the Old Man. As soon as they did so, the clear blue skies of a warm August day turned dark. The wind kicked up, bad, and it started to rain, then hail, then snow in the span of a few minutes...again in August. Now snow in that area is common, but not in the summer months. It gets super warm in that area in summer (like 70 to 90 degrees on average) So the scientists decided to nope the fuck out of the water, because of this freak storm. They unmoored the Old Man, preparing to get the fuck out of dodge of this summer snowstorm. As soon as the rope loosened and was in the water, as quickly as the storm had come on them, the darkened skies cleared and it was once more a fine sunny summer day.
As a kid, I spent my summers with my family who lives like... 40 some odd miles from Crater Lake National Park so I had this knowledge just kinda buried in my head somewhere.
I excitedly added a thing about the old man before I checked the notes so now I'm gonna reblog this great story instead but here is the old man!!!
"The Old Man floats vertically through the lake on a calm day"
"THE OLD MAN FLOATS. VERTICALLY. THROUGH THE LAKE ON A CALM DAY"
!!!!!!!!!!

And so this post floats back to me. Pure poetry.
Somehow no one has mentioned yet that Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the U.S, and the 10th deepest lake in the world. She Is Deep And Full Of Secrets guys, perfect wizard territory
In the never-ending quest to alleviate my migraines, I bought a special angled pillow that lets you sleep on your side while your arm just kind of hangs through a whole in the middle. I did this because Iām a left-sided sleeper, always have been.
Until my neck subluxated and now I canāt sleep on that side without compressing some vital nerves and blood arteries. I also canāt sleep on my back right now because the pressure compresses my occipital nerve. Basically sleeping has been a nightmare recently, but thatās not the point of this post.
The point was I brought this up in physical therapy to talk about how great this pillow is because I can now sleep on my right side without the stupid thing going numb or waking me up because it hurts. And my PT was like wow, great! How did you sleep on your left side for so long without it being an issue?
And I said, oh thatās easy. I just tuck that shoulder out of the way.
And she said, ...what?
And I said, yeah, I just tuck it out the way. Not like my right shoulder. That one doesnāt move as well. It just hurts, I think thereās something wrong with it.
And my physical therapist asked me to demonstrate what I mean when I say I ātuck my shoulder out of the way,ā and haha, youāre never going to believe this, turns out Iāve just been casually pulling my left shoulder out of the socket for, oh, letās see, 30 years? And then napping on it like hmmnm yess comfy.
Anyway. I looked up from my demonstration and my physical therapist was making this face:

When I was in the hospital, they gave me a big bracelet that said ALLERGY, but like. I'm allergic to bees. Were they going to prescribe me bees in there.

We are witnessing the grotesque reality of the martyred Palestinians and thousands of their massacred children being written off as mere afterthoughts. The way western media outlets steadfastly refuse to call the Israeli aggression and onslaught for what it is, which is genocide and ethnic cleansing, is just another way of dehumanizing Palestinians.Ā
