@thelordthingy
what do you mean elon musk did a nazi salute on live tv at the united states presidential inauguration twice and is now erasing the evidence off the internet by replacing the footage with the crowd cheering instead?
would be a shame if people reblogged this, wouldnât it?
I want you to remember:
The fascists hate you too and they just will pretend otherwise until after they've killed the rest of us, before they turn on you.
Thanks to whoever tried, but I knew they'd never allow it.
Let's do it the old fashioned way. Spread it far and wide.
every now and then, Bruce "I hate magic so much I pretend it doesn't exist" Wayne gets a little too in-tune with his city and freaks out everyone around him with minor, brief instances of eldritchy-ness.
except his kids. they do it too.
Sometimes, sometimes, Ketheric reflects on what he's lost, and misses Aylin.
Flashbacks to old times
Based on this post by @animentality that for some reason took my art block and saved me
anyway i love torturing this shitty old man my beloved
you don't get it. i miss batman. except not that batman, and not that guy's batman, and not that guy's batman, but this highly specific iteration of batman that coalesces after you're hundreds of batman comics deep and you figure out that everyone in your entire life has lied to you about batman this entire time. i miss that specific batman
i miss this batman from detective comics #457
i miss batman from legends of the dark knight #79
i miss batman from legends of the dark knight #67
i miss this highly specific sequence of panels from batman: black and white that is genuinely one of the best pages about the character anyone ever fucking wrote and i'm so fucking pissed no one ever doubled back to this shit
I MISS THIS STUPID CUTE SHIT FROM DETECTIVE COMICS #474
I MISS GOTHAM KNIGHTS #45
they did the, "what would happen if bruce wayne's parents never died?" story decades ago. they've done it again, and again, and again since then, but no one has ever done it half as fucking good as they did it in detective comics #500, and the hilarious thing is, it's not even the full issue, it's one story in an anniversary issue, and it is fundamentally the best batman story ever told. the singular best one. the whole gist is that phantom stranger appears to batman and is like hey, i found a universe where your parents didn't die, would you like the chance to save them? and batman of course says fuck yeah, carts in robin, and they go a-huntin, but the strange thing about this universe... is that it lacks, entirely, the concept of a hero. there's no greek heroes. there are no superheroes. you don't have achilles, perseus, or superman. there are no stories about heroes; it's a universe where "luke skywalker" a character concept is impossible to fathom.
and robin's the one who discovers that, and he's like, look, dude... you're this universe's last shot at a hero. if you stop your parents from dying, you'll never be batman, and there will never be a hero here, and in the narrow worldview of cape comics this is a Big Fuckin Deal, because then who is going to save all of those innocents? and naturally batman is like dude, fuck you, i'm gonna do it anyway. and then he goes and he saves his fuckin parents. but then you get:
he just becomes batman fucking anyway. because the whole fantasy of batman is that it is never wrong to save someone's life - even at the deep personal cost, this is fundamentally worth doing. batman's not bruce's Darker Side or this twisted alter ego that is a monument to his trauma and pain - it is the precise and exact opposite. it is the weaponization of something that terrified and scarred you (bats, violence, the night) and using it to help people, therefore this is the greatest batman story every fucking told, bar none.
and yet frank miller slaps his dick repeatedly on a typewriter and i'm supposed to think that's somehow better. but once you fucking know this is out there, people could just be writing about this goofy-yet-elegant character concept instead of trying repeatedly to beat the shit out of it and make it into something it isn't, once you fuckin know, you fuckin know forever. you have to spend the rest of your goddamn motherfucking life seeing batman stories that reach a mere fraction of, what, 10 pages published in the fucking 70s? you've had since the fucking 70s to do this shit better and you made it worse? what the fuck? you don't get it. i miss this highly specific version of batman, i don't miss that guy's batman, or that other guy's batman, or that other guy's batman, i miss this very one right here. i miss this fuckin guy

Good morning everybody
This is my new favourite headline I've seen all year lmaooo
become ungovernable
âI took courage, used my deadname and signed up for Miss Italy. Because fighting transphobia is intersectional and even though Iâm not a trans woman, Iâve decided to fight for their rights.â
ok this is 1. funny, 2. courageous, 3. how solidarity works, and 4. based
The fact that Batman trained with a bunch of people and then went on to train the Robins (and others) is actually pretty funny. You know the cliché when in a fight some tough guy says "Hmm familiar technique, you learned from <any other tough dude>". And then imagine that Batman borrowed some tricks from his "teachers" and taught them to Robins
Cool hired killer: Those are familiar moves. You are a student of <complex long name>
Nine-year-old Dick Grayson, who only trained under Batman: *sweats nervously*
Just remember, that the reverse is probably true too
From Detective Comics 38 (Robinâs debut)
So, years later, Batman is performing some acrobatic moves whilst fighting a parkour based thief or somesuch
Parkour Based Thief: Wait, was that a half-flip with triple axle, Mary Graysonâs signature move? Thereâs only like, three people in the world who can do that, even I canât do that and Iâm considered a prodigy. Slick!
Batman, who has trained with a nine-year old: *sweats nervously*
hnng. hh. uhhh. Hnmrrn. Gyuh. I. Hello.
i like Ma & Pa Kent a lot bcos like, their whole thing is that theyâre the normalest, nicest human parents in existence, but also, they are the people who found a baby inside a crashed spaceship and just took him home and told no-one.
i also like that the OG backstory was âthey reported him as a foundling & then adopted him through the normal channelsâ which is a reasonably plausible chain of events (itâs not a common thing to happen but like, hereâs a case from 2000, so itâs not impossible) but basically every subsequent set of writers seems to have been like âno no the Kents did fraudâ
#I looked it up and in kanas you need proof of pregnancy to record a home birth #they did so much fraud
hmm iâm also looking this up & it looks like a note from your doctor suffices as proof of pregnancy? so not wildly difficult to fake esp if they were like friends w the town doctor
a complication might be that Clark wouldnât necessarily be a newborn - it looks like you technically only have 5 days to register a birth in Kansas so if he was visibly older than that theyâd have problems? if so theyâd potentially have to apply for a delayed birth certificate which requires supporting documentation.Â
however acceptable supporting documentation includes things like church records & birth notices in newspapers which strike me as, again, not massively difficult to fake if you were in good w certain members of your local community.
#everyone ma & paâs age or older are in on it #just an entire small town doing massive baby fraud for their good friends
yeah see i like this a lot bcos i think it establishes 2 key aspects of the Kents from the get go:
1) such genuinely nice, trustworthy & well-liked members of the community that they can reach out to their peers for help w something like this and get it without question; and
2) down to lie to the government.
âYou know what, just take me back to Arkham. I canât deal with this right nowâ
This is not a new one {itâs from 06/19/2020} but honestly? Same.
[image description: video of a man in boxers, pouring coffee into a cup as he says, âEveryoneâs talking about top energy this, bottom energy that.â
He slams down the coffee pot and mug on the counter, and flails his hands as he talks. âI just want energy: top, bottom, east, west, shoulders, knees and toes.â He slams his palms on the counter, and says âI donât give a damn. Iâm just tired.â
