Little Virgil dinged the bell. And he dinged and he dinged and he dinged. He had been dinging all day. So long he had almost forgot why he was dinging in the first place. Virgil knew why he was dinging. It was a very important reason. And Virgil refused to stop until his needs were fulfilled, no matter how many Romans or Logans asked him to. Finally, a little Patton came up and plopped himself down beside the dinging Virgil. Patton casually tossed his arm around Virgil. “Hey kiddo! Watcha doing?” Virgil finally stopped dinging and turned towards Patton. He wrapped his arms around Patton in a koala-like hug, burying his face into the father figure’s shoulder. “D’aww! Is that all you wanted kiddo? Cuddles from Dad.” Virgil nodded meekly against Patton’s neck. Patton giggled. “Well, all you had to do was ask! You know I’m always down for cuddles!” Patton Drew Virgil closer and Virgil breathed in the familiar smell of warmth and home and safety. His eyes glanced up over Patton’s shoulder to glare at a box sitting up on a high shelf. A tiny, snake-like face glared back for several moments before sinking back down into the cardboard container. Virgil felt his voice returned to him, but didn’t bother using it at the moment. Instead, he snuggled closer to Patton and simply relished in embrace, as well as the victory no one but himself knew he had just won.
