great
this looks helpful at least
another good source i would recommend following is Matthew Cortland, who is a public health/disability/law professional who does excellent writeups:
Cyclospora infection is often asymptomatic, but when symptoms occur, illness is characterized by anorexia, nausea, flatulence, fatigue, abdo
nb. I got into this outbreak in detail, even though I was having surgery, because I need to know what is safe for me to eat as someone who
No, actually "use your brain and you won't get it" is downright evil advice. You can't personal choice your way out of this. All it takes is a little cross-contamination somewhere (anywhere!) in the supply chain and literally any fresh vegetable you eat, whether from a grocery store or a farmer's market or a restaurant or a cafeteria could give you cyclosporiasis.
The only way to completely eliminate risk (of cyclospora specifically) is by eating only canned or frozen veggies. Cooking kills cyclospora, but there's always a risk of cross-contamination during food prep if the veggie starts out raw.
People love to throw out lists of things to avoid, always implying that if you get sick it's because you're stupid. So here's some actually useful info for if you get sick
1) The food that made you sick was something you ate in the last week. Throw out any leftovers & do some cleaning of cooking surfaces just in case
2) Normal symptoms: watery diarrhea, "loose" stool, abdominal/stomach cramps, maybe a little vomiting, nausea
3) NOT normal symptoms: bloody diarrhea, dark & tarry stool, fever, lots of vomiting. If you have any of these (or start to get these later), it could mean complications due to cyclospora or it could be something else. Go see a doctor asap
4) Most infections are self-limiting (they'll get better with a few days rest). Sometimes symptoms go away and then come back a few days later. That's normal & fine. If you're sick for longer than 2-3 days without any sign of getting better, that's NOT normal & you should see a doctor. The infection can persist for a month if not treated & you happen to be one of the cases that isn't self-limiting
5) if you need to see a doctor, do your very best NOT to poop beforehand. they will want to do a stool culture and it sucks so bad to do that at home
6) there are rapid tests for shiga-toxin that they'll do on your stool sample which will be done in about a day. The other tests for non-cyclospora diseases take ~2 days to complete. The centers that do cyclospora tests are completely overwhelmed right now, so that result might not come back for weeks so...
7) DEMAND A TREATMENT PLAN FROM YOUR DOCTOR. this is critical. At your first visit, get them to make a plan where after the negative tests come back, they will prescribe an antibiotic & do not wait for the cyclospora test
8) The antibiotic for cyclospora should be Bactrim (TMP/SMX), which has a 96% efficacy by 3 days. It might be something different if you have allergies tho. There are lots of options, it isn't hard to kill. You'll probably start to feel better in less than 24 hrs.
9) Take ALL of the pills they give you (2/day for 7 days). Do not stop just because you feel better and the pills make you feel nauseous and it's probably fine right? Wrong. That's how you get antibiotic resistance & that can kill you stone dead
10) if you're taking bactrim & feel short of breath or like you can't breathe quite right, go to the hospital right away. sometimes it does that & makes ppl stop breathing. it's like one in a million, but it can happen & it's better to know

hello everyone!! today is my birthday, and if you enjoy me or my posts, i would ask that you join me in supporting the people of palestine. i’ve made a €25 donation to ele elna elak, an on-the-ground organization in palestine helping families access clean water, food, and other supplies. i don’t often see them spotlighted on tumblr, but they work closely with the journalist bisan owda, whose coverage of the genocide many are familiar with, and she has shared their work many times over on instagram. if you have any money to spare, whether it’s a couple dollars or a bigger amount, please consider donating to support the work that they do!!!
when did you join tumblr? (don't vote without reblogging)

While you are here, I am suffering excruciating pain due to severe anemia and the shrapnel still embedded in my body from the bombing of our house while we were inside. I am in constant pain and suffer frequent fainting spells. I wanted to remind you of my situation, and that your d0nation would provide invaluable h@lp and supp0rt, which I desperately need. I see death before my eyes every moment. Please d0nate and h@lp me survive. Please.
I will not frgiive anyone who sees this post and ignores me, or hears about my plight and doesn't d0nate. Please h@lp us and d0nate. Your d0nations are our only hope in life. My family and I are suffering greatly, and your d0nations are our only lifeline. Please stand by me.
Please stand and h@lp us. My family and I are suffering constantly because of my condition, and we don't want to see any of our loved ones die before our eyes. The situation here in Gaza is extremely difficult; the bombing never stops, and people are killed every day. I implore you to d0nate any amount you can. I desperately need your h@lp to buy my medication and have my surgery as soon as possible. Please stand by me.
Legalizing copyright infringement would be dismantling one of the few limitations on the white urge to steal from Black Art and Black Artists. The practical application of it would be anti-Black as fuck
this argument makes so many assumptions that I disagree with that I don't know where to start
damn asker, that's crazy and would suck. good thing we have robust IP law in the United States to prevent theft from Black artists
now to take a big sip of coffee and look up who owns Tupac Shakur's likeness
Steven Spielberg has received criticism for buying the film rights to MLK's speeches, and further controversy stems from King's estate.
In 2009, Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks company paid the estate for film rights to King's words, along with his life rights, which allow a person or company to make content based on an individual's story. DreamWorks has yet to produce or direct Spielberg's planned King biopic, but the rights have caused complications for numerous filmmakers. (Neither Spielberg's literary agent nor King's estate returned Broadly's request for comment.)
King has received only one major biopic, 2014's Selma, directed by Ava DuVernay […] Instead of using King's speeches, DuVernay wrote original monologues that sounded like soliloquies the civil rights leader could have given. […] When asked about the changes in 2014, DuVernay told the Washington Post, "We knew those rights are already gone. They're with Spielberg."
the idea that kink is somehow safe from critique and prejudice or harm is so fucking funny. ah yes bodies, desire, and power, three things that have famously never been utilized in harmful ways. great news everyone yes we are all existing in complex systems of oppression and violence BUT!!!!!! it’s on pause when we are horny
so venezuela has become a usamerican colony. like that happened and everything carried on like normal
like i know venezuela is going through a huge humanitarian crisis right now and their political regime is low in the list of priorities when tallinmg about it obviously it's just it shocked me to read trump congratulating his secretary of energy on how well he's running what used to be a sovereign country until a few months back you know
He wants to do that to Canada, Cuba, and Greenland too and is simply shocked that it hasn't happened yet.
Hey so it's worse then that
Does anybody remember when back in January Trump kidnapped the Venezuelan president? Well the American government proceeded to place someone else in charge and is directing them via text message. They are telling him who to appoint into office and allowing US businesses into the country.
They are "not looking to instate democratic elections at this time."
Occupation is a hassle. Large countries have many new ways to control small ones.
And they're not looking to retire sanctions either, much like they wouldn't if they were to invade Cuba.
My guess is they will pull up something along the lines of what they did (roughly speaking) in Panamá with Noriega and in Iraq with Saddam: bring a substantial bulk of infrastructure and spending in to put their operations in place with "optimisation" and "efficiency" justifications, pull off gradually as the local population begin protesting no expenditure has been allocated to better their living conditions and get persecuted for stating so, blame it all on the puppet government they installed, curate institutional and public consensus to legitimise a military invasion, and then decimate the entire country during the invasion.
Israelis constantly squeal at the notion of being called colonisers but so much of how Israel acts today and even in its rhetoric really just mimics colonial powers of the past. Colonial and imperial powers also used to unleash methods of collective punishment as a way to squash rebellions, if one civilian (or even soldier) from the colonial entity got hurt, colonisers had no problem murdering hundreds of the colonised peoples just to avenge that one civilian. Colonial powers would frequently seize land for whatever purpose they saw fit, they’d destroy local economies and pillage resources for their own benefit all to the detriment of the natives. But I think the rhetoric is where it really shows from the painting of Jews as exclusive victims to the dismissal and denial of Palestinian suffering, to even just the arrogant hubris of Zionists and even bragging at times when Israel would assassinate certain figures whilst chucking a tantrum at the mere mention of arresting Netanyahu for war crimes. There’s so much more I could mention but as I said, Israel’s behaviour really just speaks for itself!
Funnily enough I made this post yesterday before I had even known about what took place in Nablus. A Palestinian killed a settler with the settler's own weapon after the settlers invaded the Palestinian village and the Palestinian is being touted as a terrorist by Israeli politicians and media alike. After the settler was killed, 4 Palestinians were killed all from the same family. Palestinians are demonised for defending their land even while land-stealing armed settlers invade their land and then when they're killed by those armed settlers, it's painted as the settlers "defending themselves." Israelis don't stop to ask what the settlers were doing there in the first place, to Israel those settlers have a right to be there because in their eyes, it is "Jewish land." Then the likes of Ben Gvir have threatened to seize land and demolish homes of those responsible for the settler killings and even called to bomb them, and this is something Smotrich has echoed before too.

Octavia E Butler’s Parable of the Sower
The suffering of the victims will not be erased by silence. Justice is not a slogan, but a responsibility. The voices of the victims must remain present until accountability is achieved and every human being's right to life and dignity is respected.
To everyone who hears but doesn't speak, to everyone who sits but doesn't move, to everyone holding their phone right now but not participating: do something for justice.
In Gaza, life is nonexistent. The tents are dilapidated, healthcare is nonexistent, and there's no cleanliness, water, food, medicine, hospitals, education, work—everything. Despite all this, my family and I cling to Gaza and Palestine. We still have hope.
Any donation will be our only lifeline. You are our hope, our only lifeline. Any donation will help my family through this painful ordeal.

"Prison camp" is an absolute nothingburger term used only to fearmonger about non-Western countries btw. There is no fundamental difference between what you think of as a "prison camp" and your run-of-the-mill USamerican prison
i mean this so sincerely if you are a man in 2026 you should expect to be on thin fucking ice with the women in your life and if this confuses or enrages you then you are part of the reason why
if you aren't even aware that we are right now all of us living in an ongoing worldwide antifeminist backlash, that is not a oh-no-cute-oopsie kind of ignorance. that fully goes past "complicit" and enters "actively part of the problem" territory. it makes me contemptuous of you. it makes me not want to know you at all. i doubt i'm alone in that.
if you are an LGBTQI+ man & you think that means this doesn't apply to you, thinking that actually makes you one of the worst kinds btw
