What do you say when you talk to yourself? 🤔 Words ARE #energy (even ones only you can hear) and they can either be uplifting, neutral, or draining. Studies have shown the more positive your self talk, the more likely you are to #persevere through the #challenging times. #grit Seriously. Those who make it though #NavySEAL training and even the thousand #BlackBelts I’ve worked with have had to find a way to improve what they said when they said it to themselves. It’s the only way to make it through. - My personal story wouldn’t be complete without sharing how rigorous I had to be with my #selfcare and self talk when healing a #brain #injury. Your injured brain will tell you #negative things if you’re not #aware . - I had to be the #positivity police - its easy to tell yourself you’re #broken, #crazy, a mess, a burden, or how things will never be OK when it’s exactly how you feel. I had to notice everything I said to myself. Why? ***Because the minute you start beating yourself up with a brain injury, your brain stops its #healing. *** 🤯 When one of my brain docs explained it to me, suddenly ALL my years of training made sense. Nothing heals by being yelled at our called dumb or stupid. Nothing. And no one. We don’t get smarter, thinner, faster, stronger, or more #resilient through #negativity.
