Also cats are domestic animals????? Its your pet. Its your responsability to take care of it and it certainly doesn't look like you are doing this if your pet spends 90% of the day on the streets. Outside cats are in great risk for being ran over, stolen, beaten, poisoned, mauled or eaten by wild animals. A mildly bored cat is way better than a dead one and besides? Just offer your pet enrichment. You don't need to risk its life to keep it happy. You can even let it outside with supervision!! Look how many options we have. Insisting the only way to keep your cat happy is allowing it to wreck the environment and possibly die is not only fucking irresponsible, but also lazy and shows that you don't really care for the wildlife around you.

Back when I was in high school, volunteering at the zoo, I had this encounter with one of our mountain lions.

Now, I had actually petted the older, calmer female. But this was one of the males - they'd never been even slightly interested in me. But today? He made eye contact with me. He hunkered down. He did the butt waggle like he was going to pounce. Again. And... POUNCE. That cat crossed a good 20 meters in about 3 seconds. He only turned away at the last moment because there was an electrified fence.

He made sure I knew he was there. He wasn't hunting: he was playing. This was exactly like a housecat playing with you.

But, just because he was playing, didn't mean I wouldn't have been dead if he'd actually pounced on me.

They are big kitties. It's just that housecats are small and can't seriously injure you.

The whole "Jax never experienced consequences for her actions" take is wild because abstracting is one hell of a consequence. Besides, even if we ignore her abstraction the statement is still factually incorrect.

having this happen to me repeatedly is why i realized the TMA/TME framework is so important, honestly. because in instances where i had been in physical danger because someone had assumed i was a trans woman, the situation was immediately defused by the confirmation that i wasn't one. and when this happened i was like. wow, that would have been really really really bad if i had been a trans woman. i wouldn't have had that get-out-safely card if i had been a trans woman. and this made me try to become more fierce in my advocacy for transfems and trans women, because. in this situation, i got to go home. a woman in my shoes might not have. if i can act as a shield for a transfem to be able to get home safely then i need to do that.

it just makes me feel crazy that there are so many TMEs who experience this, and instead of becoming bigger advocates for transfeminism, they pay the bigotry forward, and use the experience as an excuse for that bigotry.
