I’ve been toying with the idea of infected Leon since forever basically but never really drew an official design for it. Playing RE9 kinda pulled me back into the franchise though, and now all the ideas I’ve had for a verdugo Leon are begging to be drawn - so! I present to you, my infected Leon design!

I’ve always been a fan of when a character becomes twisted beyond recognition and goes through a grotesque, body horror-filled transformation (hint hint, Spamton, hint hint), and Resident Evil has so many AU opportunities for this to occur. The idea of Leon becoming the very thing that he strives to destroy - to become one of the monsters that he’s dedicated his life to fight against - is such an incredibly delicious and angst-filled concept that I just had to draw my own interpretation of it!

Obviously, this design is heavily inspired by the verdugo itself, but I also want to give a major shoutout to @polarspaz for their amazing contributions to the infected Leon field! I’ve followed their art forever now and their work has definitely influenced some of the choices I made in my own infected Leon design!

Anyways, I may be drawing more of this stuff, and may even perhaps come up with some sort of backstory (spoilers, it might be heavily influenced by all the other AUs I’ve come across on here LOL).

Sidenote: the physiology of the verdugo was one of the hardest things I’ve tried to draw - like, I stared at that thing for several hours just trying to understand what I was looking at, and tbh, I still don’t think I understand it :’)
