One of the oldest known spiritual symbols dated back to the Neolithic period.
The triskelion is one of the oldest known spiritual symbols. It has been seen in grave goods, on miscellaneous jewelry and sculpture, as well as cave drawings, all dating back to the Neolithic period.
The triskelion is Celtic; it is featured in Irish mythology and is associated with Manannan mac Lir and Lugh. It is believed to give strength and is linked to craftsmanship.
Believed to give protection, the triskelion is still used as an amulet for balance, and it’s thought to ward off negative energy. This could be curses and hexes or depression and nightmares or a host of other possibilities.
Symbolic of motion, the triskelion is associated with continuous motion, evolution, forward momentum, and progress. If someone were to feel stuck, they can try wearing a triskelion to help move things along.
Sometimes the triskelion can be associated with the sun and solar movement or energy. This also ties it back to the god Lugh.
Looking at the triskelion three is definitely there. It is associated with a lot of triple powers. The Triple Goddess: maiden, mother, crone or youth, fertility, wisdom; the Three Realms: land, sea, sky; along with a host of others: life, death, rebirth; past, present, future; mind, body, spirit; creation, preservation, destruction; etc.
