I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there — things that will get taken down on any other platforms — and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.
and no, this isn’t me saying “write that messed up, disgusting thing” because while, yes, write it if it’s what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered “vile” to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.

The above are concepts classified according to subject and usage. It not only helps writers and thinkers to organize their ideas but leads them from those very ideas to the words that can best express them.
It was, in part, created to turn an idea into a specific word. By linking together the main entries that share similar concepts, the index makes possible creative semantic connections between words in our language, stimulating thought and broadening vocabulary. Writing Resources PDFs

Right y’all 😮💨—we worked our way though over 5,000 responses for our survey on writing in the age of AI. We crunched the numbers, made some lovely infographics, gathered a ton of phenomenal quotes, data’d the data—and shared the results over on our blog.
Who’s ready for some pie charts?!🧵🧵

The thing about me, and in extension about my httyd fics, is that I, categorically and for multiple reasons, deny the existence of the third movie--so the storylines of that will 100% not show up in my fics.
Which also means that I have no intentions of using the canon names of Hiccup and Astrid's kids (even though I think Zephyr is pretty).
At the same time, me being me, I've had a name for a hiccstrid baby picked out for... well, for months now I guess, but I haven't had the chance to use it yet. And it bugs me.
your comment means so much to the author!! don’t be shy about letting your favorite authors know you love their works.
if their fic makes your day, your comment makes their day too
do fic readers know that their comments actually influence the course of the story sometimes? i don't mean in a "you need to write it this way because i say so 😡" type of comment, i mean when people are asking questions or really engaging with the plot and the themes in the comments they sometimes bring up things that i didn't even think of, or dig into parts of the story that i've overlooked, or get really interested/fixated on something i was going to just kind of glance over--and it has me going 'oh wait that's actually really interesting, that's a good point' and fully adding or tweaking or changing things about the story going forward. i'm literally adding an entire additional chapter to something right now because someone's comment had me like "oh i didn't dig into that as much as i could have." you have impact!
Reblogging cuz I’m once again in the middle of adding an entire new plot arc to a fic because of a comment - and you know what, it made it better!
im always suuuuper chill when i see that service unavailable page
