coming into new fandoms is interesting bc ppl will be arguing over the nitty gritty of canon events and characterizations. meanwhile I spent my formative fandom years in the twilight community where the authors word is definitely not law, it’s a mere suggestion at best. everyone reading or watching twilight looked at smeyer and said “you’ve got a pretty good premise and some cool characters there, now why don’t you hand it over bc you can’t be trusted to take care of this :)”. cherry pick whatever you want out of canon. you didn’t like this character? poof they’re gone. you wish a certain fight had gone differently? whatever you want. it’s your mind sandbox no one else can tell you how to play in it.
