When Grace starts the "WHO AM I?" board, he writes "Carl... (foggy)", but when we come back to it at the end (before he's started erasing it to plan out going back to Rocky) it says "Carl... (fog )". I think there's a pretty obvious gap, and nothing surrounding it has been rubbed off. The last two letters of "foggy" have been intentionally erased.
The marine layer (fog) that hangs over the San Francisco Bay Area is named Karl. Seriously, a significant portion of Bay Area residents (especially millenial or younger) call the fog "Karl" in casual conversation. All the time. I've heard it. It is very confusing at first.
I don't think Grace ever remembered Carl well enough to be certain he existed. He erased the "-gy" in "foggy" because he thought maybe he was just thinking of the fog. He likes the fog. He still doesn't remember having one single true friend on Earth. He likes the fog.
not a day goes by that i don’t think of this
Fuck Meyer-Briggs whatever typology. This INTFP shit is only for redditors up their own asses to substitute for a personality. Use my new typology instead!

"queer-owned business" means nothing anymore. OpenAI and Palantir are both queer-owned businesses.

I just heard Project Hail Mary's genre coined as "Cosmic Hope" instead of cosmic horror, and I'm getting emotional all over again. I need to sit down. God do I love this story to bits.
Was riding a provincial bus with my friend. The bus braked hard, and she caught me by the forehead. It was a meaty smack

You know I genuinely didn't believe it when I read that this movie used more fake blood than the Evil Dead remake....
Then I saw that ending and Simon literally almost drowning in some of the most viscous and goopy fake blood I have ever seen. Like.... I have never seen fake blood in a movie look so coagulated and old before.
The way it was forming scabs on the inside ship hull was fucking vile and I loved it.
warning for potential gross TMI;
I used to work in hospital laboratories, including transfusion medicine. where one of the work tasks is to dispose of the old and no longer viable blood packs.
yes, it is just as gross and cool and awesome as you can imagine. especially when I add the detail that the packs often sit out in room temp for a few days before they get disposed of at once. we'd pour it into stainless steel vats that makes the blood look even more dark and goopy, before it gets sent away and incinerated.
the final scenes of Iron Lung had me just GRINNING nonstop because of how much it reminded me of that work task. it was so on point with the gross texture and how it sticks to everything. the way it behaves like a goopy sludge and still yet can form fine bubbles. the way it absorbs and reflects light depending on how deep it is... it behaved just like the real deal. I had to remind myself that it wasn't real multiple times!
you can tell they used various types of fake blood for different purposes to keep as accurate and gross as possible, and it's paid off SO incredibly well.
From the fertile mind of Peter Blegvad.
There’s a liquor store near my house that seems to be run exclusively by frat boys. They lovingly curate these bags, which I browsed today while “Oops I Did It Again” played through the store speakers. This is art to me, there is beauty everywhere for those with eyes to see it
Official ominous sign (apparently translates to "Sorry", in a sincere way)

i feel. like on a fundamental level. i do not understand x reader fic. i am not exactly opposed to it because let a thousand blossoms bloom etc. but like. i genuinely don’t get it. it seems like the exact opposite of how i engage with fiction. like the whole point is that i’m not in there. i don’t wanna be in there. if i’m in there it’s going to be very stressful.
Yes that but like I wanna be there it’s probably better then whatever it is I got going on rn.
